Chapter Seven
"What do you mean Victoria is gone?" He asks his heart thumping.
"Did I say that out loud?" He asks in a fake Oh no voice
"Yes you did and I want to know what you mean by that."
"We had to dispose of her." Thomas growls and lunges at Blade, but he's clapped in Iron and shoved to his knees
"WHY!"
"Seems like she was tired of doing dirty work for us, so she was going to go to the cops, she didn't get very far though. My men grabbed her." He smiled evilly.
"How do you know she was?"
"My men had followed her when she went to her friends. They went to a restaurant and my men overheard their conversation."
"She was your best man-woman."
"I know that and that's why it was so hard to lose her." He waved to his men and they released his hands. He stood up. His eyes glaring.
"You are a murderer." He spit out the words. Blade just laughed.
"You have your new assignment. You can leave now." Thomas gave him the finger then stormed out. He went back to his apartment. It was too damn quiet now knowing that he would never see Victoria again.

I saw her walk up the driveway, she was shivering. I threw open the door and ran out with a blanket
"Devy, I was so worried." I said as I wrapped the blanket around her.
"I was ssooo ssscared." She replied shivering.
"I bet. Come on, lets you some cocca." I pulled her inside and put her on the couch, Diego came in with a tray with three mugs of hot cocoa. We took turns asking questions to which she answered all. In the end, she said that she was very thankful to Thomas and hoped to see more of him. I told her that I would like to meet him and thank him.

After I answered all their questions, Lyric told me to go to bed which I didn't argue, I was tired, cold and confused. I slipped underneath the silky sheets, I was wearing my ugly pajamas I didn't care if Diego saw them, I needed comfort and they were the only piece of clothing that did that.
(*)Diego
"I'm so sorry Lyric. I will get to the bottom of this and have Trent formally apologize." I Told Lyric as I made my way to the door. I felt terrible and wanted to assure Lyric that I would get justice for her sister.
"Thank you Diego. Don't be too hard on him, it wasn't his fault. I get ex's they are hard not to avoid. They always seem to be where you don't want them to be." Diego chuckles, kisses her goodbye and heads for Trents apartment. Arriving, he knocks on the door, a sheepish Trent opens the door
"I know why your here. Your mad because I left Devin."
"Yes and because she got raped."
"She what!?"
"Got raped. Some man went and cornered her."
"Oh my god. Trent backed away from the door and sunk onto the couch.
"Thankfully someone got her out."
"I'm so so sorry Diego."
"Don't be telling me sorry, you need to tell her."
"I don't know if I can."
"Why's that?"
"Because Robin and I are back together."
"Fuck it." I stormed out. Trent could make me so mad sometimes and this was one of those times. I hated Robin, she would come into his life and break his heart and squander his money, then she would leave him and not come back until he had some money to spend. She was just so damn annoying too. I vowed to never see Trent again

After Diego had left, I changed into my jammies and crawled in next to Devin. She rolled over and opened her eyes. The moon was bright enough that I could see that she had been crying. I pull her close and kiss her forehead
It's okay Devy. I'm here for you. And so is that sexy ass man that you described." I hear her chuckle and then sniffle
"He is pretty sexy. I wish I had gotten his number."
"Well maybe you will see him again real soon." She smiles and rolls over, I rub her back until we both fall asleep.

I couldn't sleep I tossed and turned all night. I finally got up. It was 4:00. The apartment felt too big now and too quiet. I went to the gym and worked out until 5:30. I was trying to forget everything. But I can't, I stop lifting weights and head back towards home. Once home, I clean out all her stuff, I throw into the dumpster. I take trip after trip. The only things I don't throw out is one of her favorite dresses, the necklace I was going to give her and a picture of her. Once that's all done, I turned my attention back to the envelopes, it's time for me to get connected to Devin. I get dressed and head out to their house it's 6:20, I sit in the neighbors driveway watching the house which is still dark. Finally I see a light turn on, it's in the bathroom. I see a shadow appear in the window, but the blinds are in the way so I can't see who it is.

I get up so that I can get myself ready for practice. I haven't gone in a couple weeks and I hope i'm not too rusty. According to Brit, we have some new pieces that are pretty tricky, and we have to learn them by a certain time as we are going to go and play for a skating event. I finish my shower and slip in black slacks and a maroon t-shirt. Not the most fancy clothes, but we don't have to dress up for practice anyways. Even though my hair is still wet, I coil it into a bun, it sticks better when I do this. I put diamond earrings in all four holes. Then I go downstairs and put some bread in the toaster. I made myself some coffee. When it was done, I poured some in my thermos. My toast popped up just as I finished pouring the coffee. I grabbed the nutella out of the fridge and spread it lightly on. I ate one piece and packed the other for a snack. I left Lyric a note and headed for the music theater. I close the door and lock it then walk to my car quickly, it's starting to get cold out. I am NOT a fan of the cold. I start the car waiting for the heat to kick in. Once it kicks in a little bit, I started off towards the theater, going on the same road I've driven for years. Its a back road with very little traffic, so I can go as slow or as fast as I want. The road leads me to the highway, I go on it for two miles until I reach my exit, then I turn off onto a olderish part of a town to a big brick building. I park in my normal spot and lug my case up the five big wide stone steps and use my butt to open the door. Once inside, I stroll into the auditorium, there are a couple people there.
"Hey Dev! Long time no see."
"Hi Marcus. I know. I'm sorry. I've just been really busy."
"You always are. But hey, you should really start looking at the music Mr. Zurich will want you ready. You have a big big solo."
"Again?"
'Uh yeah, I mean you are the star."
"Yeah but why me?" At this point Zoey came over
"Um because you rock! You are better than me and Marcus. You never make a mistake, you memorize the music in like two days and um well your just perfect!" I roll my eyes at them and make my way to my spot.

I snuck into the back of the theater and sit in the back row towards the middle. The orchestra is warming up, it sounds kind of good even though it's scales that they are practicing. The doors bang open and I slink down as I watch a slinky skinny man with midnight black hair and thin brown wired glasses glides down the aisle to the front of the auditorium. He steps up onto his stage and raps the stand. They all stop
"I was very happy to hear that the performance went well while I was away." He replies speaking in a german accent. "But I was not pleased to hear that Mr. Monko had you play easy music. Now if you are done warming up, let us start. Devin I see you are back. Please go in the back room and take a few minutes to review then when you come out, you will play."
"Yes sir." I watch her go down the stairs and to the exit door. Staying in the shadows, I follow her through the door. She goes into a little room and sits down, she puts her music sheet on the stand, then she draws in a breath and lets it out and she draws the bow back and forth on the lowest part of the cello which sounds beautiful, all the notes mesh together like magic. She openes her eyes and I duck around the corner. She grabs her sheets and walks back out to the stage. An idea pops in my head, I head outside and wait.
(*)-Devin
I played my part for them, making a couple of mistakes, but I didn't like how my friends were basically saying I was Goody Two Shoes. Mr. Zurich told me to practice more as well as the others. He said that we will practice again tomorrow longer than today. We packed up and then we filed out. Walking to my car, I unlocked the door and put my case in the back seat. Then, I turned the key, it didn't work, I tried again and then I cursed. A knock on my window made me jump. Looking up, I saw Thomas. When I got out he asked
"Want a ride?"
"Not if it's on your motorcycle."
"Not today." He replies turning around and sweeping his hand towards a black SUV. I shook my head yes, grabbed my case and then followed him.
This would be the first of many interactions between Devin and Thomas.
