Chapter Four
"Hi brother." The words rang in Thomas's ears. His hand clenched around his phone and a tick started in his jaw. It was his older brother, Bear.
"I told you to never talk to me again."
"So what little brother? I need a favor."
"Not now." Thomas growls angrily.
"Why not?" Bears baritone voice blared out of the phone.
"It's my day off." A laugh sounded on the other end.
"It's your day off from Blade Tommy, but not from me."
""Fine. Where are you?" Thomas moved his head slightly around, trying to see if he could see him.
"Just turn to your right. My men will grab you."
"What about victoria?"
"Tori? Don't worry about her. I've got eyes on her." Bear clicked off. Thomas pocketed his phone and turned right. He walked for two blocks and then was hit on the back of the head.

Through my blurry eyes, I had seen Thomas walk through the door. I set my cup down and jerkily walked to the door. I was just about to open the door when a hand grabbed my shoulder and whipped me around. I looked up into steel blue eyes and black hair. One of bears goons. Her heart dropped to her toes.
"Let's go dance Tori." She hated that nickname. But she was scared of him so she complied.
"Where's Thomas?"
"He's going to go see his brother." She fell silent and started dancing again. She knew that she would have to if she wanted to stay alive. Before they worked for Blade, they worked for Bear. Bear was the king of drugs. Any kind you wanted, he had. It was Thomas's job to felover and then bring the cash back to Bear. It was a dangerous job, but since Thomas and bear were related he had to. After some time, he gave Bear a thousand dollars and quit. That's when Blade had approached him and he got into the type of business he's in now. That's how Victoria had met him, and from then on, they had been inseparable.

The back of my head was pounding from where I had gotten hit with the barrel of a gun. I opened one eye slowly and then the other. I was in a dimly lit cement room sitting on a metal chair. My hands wre handcuffed behind me.
"Welcome back." Bear came out of the shadows. He had brown hair just like Thomas, but darker and longer. His hair went to his neck and was straight and greasy. His Jade eyes stuck out against his pale skin. A scar ran along his right cheek from the bottom of his eye.
"Is this really necessary?"
"No. But I thought it would be fun." He walked over and unlocked the handcuffs. Thomas rubbed his wrists, red marks were there from where they had cut in. He stood up, Bear offered him some wine which he accepted. Bear took him through the door into an air conditioned hallway, the hallway was glass that was secluded in the woods. Water ran under the walkway. Bear went into a room, it was warmer in there for a fire was burning, There was an oak table in the middle of the room, with a big chandelier hanging from the ceiling. There was food set out on the table. Bear motioned to a chair, Thomas sat in it as Bear slid into his casually, Thomas was glad for the space between them as he still didn't quite trust him. They ate silently, the only sound was the crackling of the fire and the clinkling of silverware. After they ate, bear went through a door that was connected to the dining room. It was also air conditioned, a big desk sat in front of a window, a chair sat in front of it. Thomas sat on it, Bear slid behind the desk ad propped his feet up on it and set his wine glass down.
"So little brother. I need you to deliver a package."
"Where to?"
"South side of Malibu. At 39th and dove."
"South side? That's a three hour drive."
"I know. So you better get a move on." Thomas growled at him and ran out the door, to his suburban. He turned the key and drove off.

Lyric finally woke up. I put down my book and smiled at her
"Sorry. I didn't mean to fall asleep."
"That's okay. It looked like you needed it."
"Don't we all need naps?" She says. I laugh, then I look at her slyly
"Want to go out?"
"What do you mean go out?"
"Well don't you have a party or something to go to? Like at a bar. You usually go at this time don't you?"
"Well yeah, but you would want to come with?" Devin shrugs a shoulder
"Sure." " Now go change before I change my mind." Lyric screams with glee
"Yay!" She rushes up the stairs to her room. Devin also changes. She changes into a velvet long sleeved cobalt blue midi dress. She wears her orchestra shoes which are black zest is history heels. She takes out her hair which is a weird mish mosh of crimped and curly. Lyric comes running down the stairs in a dark green mini lace dress a worried look on her face.
"What's wrong?"
"What will I do with my hair? I won't have time to curl it!" I role my eyes and walk over to her. I take out her binder and undo the braid, it falls out, her hair is perfectly crimpy.
"There. Now your perfect."
"Oh my gosh! Thanks! Your the best!" She squeezes me then throws on some boot heels that must be six inches off the ground as she towers above me now. She applies lip gloss and eyeshadow. And then were off.
"So where exactly are we going?"
"The south side of Malibu. I just got a notification that there's an epic party there."
"Okay. What's the address?"
"39th and dove."
"Interesting adress" Devin says as she inserts the address into her GPS. The bar is called Get Lucky.
"I know it's three hours away, but you don't mind do you?"
"No. We haven't been able to hang out like this in a long time." They smile at each other. Then Lyric turned on some tunes and off they went.

I still had two hours to go as I had stopped to get coffee and fill up the suburban, also traffic was so fucking slow. My phone rings, I pick it up. It's from Victoria
"Tommy?" Her voice sounds breathless.
"Yeah Vic?"
"You okay?"
"Yes, I'm fine. The goons didn't hurt you right?"
"Right. They finally let me go, but they were following me. So instead of going home, I went to a coffee shop diner place."
"I'd feel safer knowing you wre home."
"I know you would."
"Just do the hide and seek trick."
"I would, but I don't know how to do it as well as you."
"Try Vic. They let you go. They shouldn't be following you."
"I will" There's a pause then "You'll be back tonight right?"
"I should be."
"See you then." She replies her voice trying to sound upbeat. She hangs up and he put his phone in the cup holder so that he would be able to see if anything else came in.

I gathered my things and walked to the bugatti. I turned the key and took some deep breaths. I backed out then took the exit ramp and merged on. I glanced into the rearview mirror, a blacked out van was behind me. I grip the wheel until my knuckles turn white. There were two ways to get home. I could trick them though and go the way I always go. I mash the gas pedal and swerve beteem cars, they honk and slam their brakes but I keep going. I looked in the mirror again, I was ahead of the ban, I cut in front of a car, my tires squealing as I round the corner, I drive into an alley that is dark, the van goes roaring past me. I wait a few seconds then reverse out of there and merge back into traffic. My heart pounds and my hands are shaking uncontrollably. I arrive home and park my car in the ramp and rush inside into the elevator and into my room number. I fling myself down onto the floor and lay there for a minute. Then I close all the blinds and draw the curtains. Next I start a bubble bath and pour some wine. Bringing the bottle in with me, I sink underneath the warm bubbly water.

Thomas finally made it to 39 and dove. He opened up the piece of paper that had the name on it it read Get Lucky. Grabbing the envelope from the glovebox, he tucks it inside his blazer then walks across the street and into the building and wait in the entryway. He could hear music blasting, but couldn't quite hear the words. A couple of minutes later, a man came and got him the man wore sunglasses so he couldn't see his eyes. The man brought him behind a curtain, there was a woman singing loudly as she was quite out of it. She turned and looked at him, years of abuse showed on her face. She had grey green eyes, that were bloodshot. Her hair was blond, stringy and dirty.
"Oh goody, your here." She sang. He reached inside his coat which made sunglasses draw his gun.
"Don't shoot. I'm just getting the goods." Sunglasses lowered his hand but kept the gun out. Thomas drew out the envelope out and placed it on the glass table. The woman grabbed it and opened it, a chuckle escaped her lips as she withdrew a small bag filled with a whote powder.
"Give him the cash." Sunglasses reached into his cot and withdrew a fat envelope. Thomas took it.
"Thank you. Do you wish to put in another order?"
"No, this will last me." She patted the envelope "Go have some drinks, it's on me." He nodded his head and walked out to the bar. There were poker games going on everywhere he looked. The dance floor had a healthy amount of people on it, he went to the counter and ordered a beer. He turned to walk to a booth when a woman ran into him spilling her beer on his shirt.
"I'm so sorry!" Two dazzling eyes looked up at him, her eyebrows turned from worry to shock
"It's okay."
(*)-Devin
"It's okay." The mans husky voice says above the noise. It was the man from the Gala.
"Here, let me dry it off for you." She started to each for a napkin.
"Don't!" He said it with such force that she backed away. She refilled her cups and then made her way back to the dance floor. She stole one more look, he was watching her intently. She melted into the crowd back to her sister who was dancing like crazy. She stopped long enough to ask
"What took you so long?"
"There was a long line." Devin replied handing her sister a cup.

Thomas couldn't get her out of her head. Everything from the night at the glaa rushed back into his head. THis time it was her that had spilt on him. Was this going to be a thing? No, it wasn't going to be. But yet, her soft spoken voice kept playing in his head as well as the she looked tonight. If it wasn't for her eyes, he would not have recognized her. He set his beer down and left, he wanted to get to Bear and then home to Victoria. He drove the three hours back. It was now three o'clock. He gave bear the money who in turn have him some for doing the job. Thomas finally arrived back at the apartment, it was quiet inside the apartment, but the bugatti had been in the parking spot so he knew she was back. He walked into the bedroom, she was cured up in a ball with a blanket over her. Her eyes were shut and her chest went up and down. She was wearing a silky black pajama dress. He watched her a couple seconds more then took a shower changing into sweatpants, then he went and watched T.V.
(*)-Lyric
I knew something had happened based on the look on her face. I didn't push it though because she had been willing to come out with me. Even though it was just to make me feel better, I was glad that she had come with me. she needed to get out and have some fun. I know she used to be fun. I have always wondered what happened but I never dared to ask. I looked at her, she was trying to have fun, but I could tell she wanted to be home, I took pity on her,
"Let's go home."
"What?" She looked at me with a raised eyebrow in disbelief
"Let's go, I'm tired." She looked at me oddly again.
"You sure?" I shook my head yes . I pulled her by the arm out to the car.
(*)-Devin
I was shocked that she wanted to go. I hoped that my face hadn't looked bored. She fell asleep just as we hit bad traffic. I took the time to reflect back to what had happened tonight. Why was that man here again? This time I had spilt on him. I fet so dumb now for asking if her wanted help to fry off. Another thought crept into her head Is he following me now? She shook off the thought as she got a tingling in her spine from fear. As they got on their street, she woke up Lyric. She pulled into the driveway way and looked around as they walked to the door, with a trembling hand she unlocked the door, as she did she glanced sideways every so often. Wow she thought Paranoia was getting the best of her. Once inside she locked the door. Lyric went to go shoer and change. Devin made them a snack of chips and nacho cheese. Then she found an I love Lucy album and put it in. She went up, Lyric was out of the shower, so she hopped in. Then she changed into silk pajama pants and a matching spaghetti strap shirt. She walked down the stairs, putting her hair in her towel. Lyric was already down there making them some coffee. With the coffee brewing, they sat down and ate their chips.

I woke up to voices coming from the living from I instantly got scared, I grabbed my gun from my undie drawer and tiptoed quietly out, keeping the gun out in front. I crept forward and looked around the corner, it was just Thomas. I slunk back to my room and put the gun away, then I went out to the living room, he looked up at me and smiled, he turned down the T.V. I went over and snuggled up to him. Intertwining my fingers with his.
"I'm glad your home." She whispered
"Me too. I'm glad your safe."
"I was so scared. He smiled at her. Then he took his finger and traced her arm from her wrist to her shoulder. She shifted and sat on his lap, and put her arms around his neck. He tilted his head back so that he could look into her eyes. Then he pulled Victoria closer and kissed her, he took her hands off from around his neck, stood up and pulled her into the bedroom to have some fun.

I had watched them the whole time, the auburn haired one seemed the responsible one. After they left, I grabbed their cups out of the garbage and wrapped them up. I needed some fingerprints from them. Then I drove back to base. Going into the lab, I ordered my technicians to run fingerprints. I needed to find out who those two girls were. Well actually I knew who they were, but I wanted to find out more about them for a secret project I was working on. I wanted to make sure to grab the best candidate. I glanced at my watch, it was 10:00 p.m, I sent Thomas a message to go to the bank early in the morning so that I could have my cash by noon as I had to pay off some men from the black market.
"Sir?" He turned from the window and looked at the tiny woman before him.She had black hair in a half ponytail. Round circle glasses that seemed to take up her whole face. She wore a tight fitting black dress.
"What Kelly?"
"Um the-the tests came back."
"And?"
"One has exactly what you're looking for." He followed her out the door and said
"That's good news."
"Why is it good news sir?"
"Because I have a plan for this one. I've followed her for a long time and know that she will be a good candidate." Down at the lab, he looked at some samples of fingerprints and then at some things on the computer. The light on the monitor illuminates his evil face. The monitor glowed brightly, the woman looked at the screen over Blade's shoulder. It showed a woman walking down the sidewalk, in black leggings and a blue sweatshirt. She had auburn hair and dazzling grey-green eyes.
