Chapter Five

The clock in the hall could be heard chiming as Lucifer sat quietly by Foster's bed, a deep look of concern crossing his usually friendly features. Vyriel had not told him why she had put Foster to sleep the way she had though if he asked she would second guess his motives for knowing.

"You're in here," a familiar voice announced, cutting through the quiet.

"Vyriel asked me to sit in here," Lucifer lied, finding great interest in a seam on the comforter.

"Really, now. Did she?" Vlad scoffed. "Just what is so great about a weakling like that? Seems like he'd be more of a hinderance than a help." He stared down at the sleeping man, scowling. Just what was with these people? Going all soft over each other and let alone over a part human.

Lucifer stood up, feeling the hostility radiate from the original. Placing a hand on the vampire's chest he easily shoved the other man out. "That is why she didn't ask you to keep watch over him," Lucifer grumbled darkly. "My sister was right, you are all useless at protecting him."

Foster stirred in the bed he'd been placed in, near peaceful expression crumpling and turning troubled. He gripped at the sheets over him and curled up, keeping his eyes closed, not wanting to wake up for fear of what condition he'd find himself.

Lucifer hesitated for a moment before placing a hand on the Fae's shoulder. He didn't know what to do for the fae, so he got up and got the man a small glass of water, keeping a careful eye on the door to make sure Dracul didn't return.

Feeling the hand on his shoulder, still dark, yet lighter than before, violet eyes looked up in time to see Lucifer's receding back. Staring at his arms, he found them solid and normal. Relaxin, he sat up, keeping his gaze on his arms. Maybe...maybe he'd imagined it.

A few moments later Lucifer returned, not paying much attention to the fact that Foster had sat up. He plopped down and sat the cup to the side, wondering what good water would do an unconscious person.

Foster looked up staring, once again, at Lucifer's backside. Why was he here? Was that...water he brought? The fae coudln't help but smile a little. Had Lucifer brought him water? Had he been worried about him? Just the idea of that brought a blush to Foster's dark skin. "Th-thank yah."

Lucifer gave a tiny jump of surprise and turned around. "Yes, I mean you're welcome," Lucifer muttered, scrunching his face at his stupidity. He rubbed his left arm awkwardly. "Vyriel would not tell me what happened. She and Raegar are off being dramatic again...no doubt fighting."

The halfling gave a slight chuckle at that, keeping his gaze down and away from the other. "I'm sure they are..." He didn't want to tell him what happened. He wasn't even sure it had happened. Maybe he just had a panic attack?

Lucifer sat down by the bed, a safe distance away to not make Foster skittish. "Vy also brought you some water," he lied without meeting the other man's gaze. The smallest hint of a blush rose to his cheeks and he tried to keep his face turned away from Foster so no one would see it.

Foster glanced over at the lie, amused and a little confused. Why would he lie about bringing water? Regardless, he smiled a little wider and said, "Well...Tell her thanks for me. Also tell her that I'm feeling better." He was, a little bit. He wasn't sure if it was being knocked out or the man refusing to look at him that was the cause of that.

"Of course," Lucifer said, some of the tension easing from his body. He replaced it with the cocky half smile he had greeted Vyriel with. "Are you up for food? Perhaps this time i'll cook for you?"

"I guess I'm a little hungry." His still dark violet eyes met Lucifer's, the color a noticeable difference from usual. His smile was genuine now, but still small, though his blush only grew. He was grateful for skin that seemed to hide it well...at least mostly.

Lucifer reached a hand out to help Foster out of the bed before narrowing his eyes and cocking his head to the side, "Do most people help friends out of bed like this?" He may have been a step ahead of Vyriel when it came to understanding humans, but for the most part the concept of being a flesh and blood entity was foreign to him. Especially feelings, and right now his body seemed to be acting however it wanted.

"Um..." It was an odd question and as he had not had many friends before, he couldn't say for sure. "Well...I would think most folks wouldn't need help out of bed...." He frowned and looked down at his bad leg, grabbing for the staff. Sighing slightly, he looked back up and forced a smile. Lucifer was going to cook for him, how could this be anything but a good thing?

"Right," Lucifer muttered and dropped his hand. "To the kitchen," he added, with a stern look before marching off. Lucifer looked at the pots and pans for a moment before nodding his head. He poured a jar of pizza sauce into a pot before adding some noodles to boil. He also grabbed a few bits of bread from the loaf on the counter and put them in the oven with a satisfied smile.

Foster watched this with great amusement. Well, at least he got the basics. He debated with himself whether to tell him he was not quite doing it right or not, but the satisfied look made him stay silent. It couldn't turn out too uneditable right? He'd probably had worse.

Lucifer began rummaging through the refrigerator again, before coming up with a head of lettuce, "Spinach," he muttered before proceeding to cut the head up and throw handfuls into the pot. The scent of something burning caught in his nose and he realized only too late that he had forgotten to stir the dish. He frantically began stirring, only to bring up scorched flakes of noodles. He glowered at the odd dish as he dipped two bowls of what hadn't been over cooked.

Honestly, it had turned out better than he'd expected, foster was even a little proud. Taking the offered bowl he smiled again and took a bite. It was...edible. There was that. "...Mmmmm...." He tried keep any sign of dissatisfaction with the food off his face.

Happily Lucifer took a large bite himself before spitting it right back up and snatching Foster's bowl away. "That was foul! Why would you continue to eat that," Lucifer threw the bowls into the trash before picking up the pot to do the same. Another unpleasant scent of burning food wafted through the air and set of the smoke detector. Making Lucifer jump. He forgot the bread. Quickly he pulled the door open and reached in to get the bread, only to be burned by the oven rack.

Foster laughed out loud before covering his mouth and looking guilty. "Ah..um Are yah okay?" He had to hold back his laughter at the whole situation. It was an honest effort, but a failure none the less. Dark eyes started to lighten a bit as he tried to hide his amusement.

"What the hell is going on in here," Raegar questioned, followed by Vyriel, who covered her nose at the smell.

"I have a refined palate, but lack talent in the kitchen it seems. Foster and I are going out to eat," Lucifer announced with a nod at the man.

"Oh, i'll come with you," Vyriel added with an impish grin, only to receive Lucifer's hand in her face to stop her.

"I did not invite you. You stay and be dramatic. Foster and I need quiet."

Still covering part of his face, under guise of shielding himself from the smoke, he blushed stronger. Dinner alone? Did Lucifer even realize what he was sounding like? At this rate he was bound to forget all about the earlier panic attack, eyes already brighter and lighter.

Vyriel smirked between the two and winked, "Have fun little birds."

"I am not a little bird," Lucifer snapped before grabbing Foster's hand. As if realizing that it wasn't a move a friend would make he readjusted his grip to Foster's arm.

The two disappeared from the kitchen, making Vyriel laugh until she caught the severe glance from Raegar. Her laughter died back down and she frowned, "Don't tell me you're still angry?"

"How could I not be..." He replied, voice unnaturally quiet.

Foster's eyes widened as his hand was grabbed, disappointed when it changed, and blinked as his surroundings changed. That was not easy to get adjusted to. Made him a bit queasy, even. "...S-so where are we gonna eat?" If it was a fancy resteraunt, well, he'd never been to one. Was he even allowed in one? Was it hard to get in?

"Wherever you wish, though...someplace with fine dining is more my fancy. I'll try anything with you though," Lucifer admitted as he looked down at the shock of violet hair beneath him. It was kind of endearing...how small Foster was compared to him. A light delicate thing beside his massive frame.

"I've never had any sort of fancy place food. I'm not even sure what they serve?" In fact he'd rarely even had fast food. Nothing much past cheap grocery food gotten at a discount and gas station food. That and whatever he could make on his own. He kept his gaze down, to nervous to look up.

"We will go to whatever strikes your hearts desire then," Lucifer replied. "Just walk until we find someplace." A group of rather loud young men passed them by on an opposite street corner. "To be fair to Yahweh...he certainly didn't do too bad with evolution did he? Especially with men."

At that, he looked up, seeing the group. "...Yeah." One man in the group certainly stood out and Foster's eyes followed him all the way down the street. "Yeah," He gripped his walking staff and smiled to himself.

Lucifer's face was a tad red now and a scowl similar to Raegar's settled onto his face. "Of course," Lucifer muttered before averted his gaze and began walking the opposite direction of the group.
Hearing the footsteps, Foster, turned back to Lucifer and hurried to follow. "Um...Thank yah for taking me out to dinner..." Just the thought was making him giddy, eyes almost their original pale violet. He looked up at the larger man, not noticing his grumpy behavior.

Lucifer sighed heavily and looked down at the excited man, his gaze softening again, "There's no need to thank me. I did ruin dinner."

"Yah didn't do to bad. I think you did a lot better than Vyriel would have...It made me laugh anyways..." He giggled a little, remembering it.

"Vyriel would have burned the entire house down," Lucifer chuckled before looking down at Foster and noticing that they had forgotten Merlin's staff in his hurry to leave. He held out a hand and looked away. "It may make it easier on your leg."

Foster stared at the offered hand, greatful and hesitant at the same time. However, instead of taking his hand, he gently held onto his arm. "Th-this'll help better...Thanks." And it ended up with him even closer. More than anything at that moment, he was glad to take the stress off of his leg.

Lucifer nodded and they continued on their way until a familiar head of white came into his view gliding over to the two. Lucifer tensed as the woman stepped closer, her eyes glowing orange like embers.

"My my, what a surprise to see you here," her husky voice said when she finally reached them.

Foster frowned, confused as to who the woman was and why he felt Lucifer tense at the sight of her. He watched the woman with cautious pale eyes, violet hair falling into his face. Her words weren't for him, he could tell that much. They were for lucifer.

"A pleasure to see you too," Lucifer replied dryly, in no pleasure at all.

"I heard mother calling," she retorted.

"You heard her call and you didn't answer it Ashlyn? What kind of daughter are you?"

"I was never designed to be a good daughter," she replied with a menacing smile.

Hearing this, Foster only grew more confused. Mother? Daughter? Who was this scary looking woman? Who ever she was, he didn't want her attention so he kept his mouth shut, watching the exchange.

Her gaze turned to Foster as if sensing his agitation, "Oh! One of mother's favorites," she licked her lips happily as she said it.

"Back off Ash," Lucifer growled. "Go see your mother."

"You're not being very nice uncle," she muttered, her gaze not leaving Foster. "Tell me...do you know what demons are like," she whispered in Foster's ear. Her voice crackled like a bonfire in his ear.

Foster's eyes widened and he shook his head, stiff and afraid of this woman. He didn't really want to know. Even if he was somehow part demon, he flat out did not want to know.

Her laughter cracked through the noise of the city like a whip and her smile curved dangerously as Lucifer stepped between them, "I'm going, I'm going," she replied before chomping playfully at Foster as she passed. "Maybe you'll get the chance."

Foster flinched back from the chomp, leaning into Lucifer to get some space between the woman and himself. Once she was gone, he moved away but remained tense. "...S-s...So...I d-don't think there's any sort of fancy place i would mind. We can go to any...or the first one we see...or something."

Lucifer led him into a rather nice Italian restaurant, "I'm sorry about...her. I don't know what to call her...your sister, but not really. She was the first born of my sister's hatred for the humans. Her pain has given birth to a few things that were better off not existing. Her being one of them," he scoffed.

Foster listened to the tone of Lucifer's voice, frowning even deeper, eyes darkening a little. Looking around, he forced a smile and took in the sight. This was fancy and the aroma was heavenly. Stomach growling, he took in the amount of people and the decorations with a bit of awe. "This...is fancy."

Lucifer snapped his fingers and the two found themselves in suits with matching red silk shirts, "Don't misunderstand, not all demons are bad. For instance, kelpies are very beautiful creatures, but she...she even makes me dislike her."

Had he ever worn something as fancy as this? It felt weird against his flesh, silky and light compared to his usual thick wooly layers. There was a lot for him to take in, the sight, the clothes, the smell, and the man he was with.

A waiter came up to them and showed them to their seats, placing their menus down on a table with a view. When asked for what sort of drink he'd like, Foster fumbled, looking through the menu to see what he'd want.

Everything was so expensive, was it really okay? He wasn't paying and judging by the size of their home, Lucifer likely wasn't strapped for money. Nervously, he asked for some red wine. Surely it wouldn't be bad to do?

Lucifer smirked and ordered a glass of scotch for himself, "So, what do you think?"

"A lot to take in...It smells so good...." He looked through the menu. He knew what most of the things were but not what most tasted like. There was seafood on here? At a place like this it had to be quality.

"This is much nicer than Raegar and Vyriel," Lucifer muttered to himself. Before his eyes widened and and he shut his lips tight, hoping Foster hadn't heard that.

She marched after Raegar an angry scowl on her face, "Why can't you see that I'm just trying to protect you," she growled at him.

"I see it. And I don't want that. Why can't you see that we are trying to do the same for you? Or even, ignoring protection, I'm trying to stay with you and be a damn team! And here you are telling me to forget you for the better of whatever the fuck! Saying you are made to suffer and other stupid self pitying shit!" Raegar went off, voice loud and expression more pissed than she'd seen in awhile.

In her rage she made a move to push his shoulder before saying anything, but only succeeded in tripping over her own feet. In a panic she tried to catch himself on his arm, but ended up pulling him down with her, the two landing hard on the floor together. The result was Vyriel pinned underneath Raegar huffing her irritation. "There is nothing I can say to make it better, because I do think you'd be better off if you forgot me. I don't want that to be the case, but it would be for your own happiness. I could...take the memories away," she whispered.

Dracul walked by the two with a frown, "Raegar...before you either kill her or bone her could you take her somewhere else. I'd rather not bear witness to it."

Raegar shot a livid glare at Vlad, "Fuck off!" He snarled before pushing off the ground and standing up. Not looking at Vy, he clenched his fists and growled, "Vyriel. Please...If you want me to not be misrable, don't take my memories away. You don't know what you'll be sending me back to."

She pushed herself up from the ground and bit her bottom lip. Though she did it innocently this time it was usually a motion that made Raegar desire her more. "I will not remove them without your say. Though I am starting to believe my brother when he said we were dramatic."

Dracul poked his head out of the bedroom, "That's what lover boy has been trying to get you to realize...sort of. He dramatic, but you...honey you're the queen of over dramatic freak outs."

Vyriel sent a scowl in his direction, "Would you piss off already?"

Raegar sighed, slightly relived. "....If our roles were switched...would you let me run off and do something so dangerious alone?"

"Never, but..." she was interrupted when the door to the house was thrown open.

"Oh mother, I'm home," came the ominous voice hot as flame though the house.

Dracul gave a small uneasy chuckle, "Raegar, if you thought I was bad, you're about to meet the one that taught me all."

Ashlyn strolled through the house with a broad smile painted in silver across her lips. The woman stopped at the sight of Raegar, "Oh...mommy, who's this delicious piece of meat you have here? I mean hunk. I mean, hi." Ashlyn slid over and seemed to melt against Raegar's side.
"This is why everyone hates you Ash," Vyriel hissed and stormed off, unreasonably furious with the demon.

Dracul laughed, "Oh, someone's gone and made mother angry."

"Speak for yourself. The old bitch is always mad."

Raegar glared at the woman that had just cozied right up to him and stepped away, pissed of even more. "Get away from me." He hissed before starting to head after Vy.

"Smooth move Ashlyn. He's mother's lover," Dracul explained before slipping into his own room.

"How was I supposed to know," Ash shouted. "I didn't even know she  could actually fuck!"

Vy paced around her bedroom, angry at the woman's appearance, and the way she slid up to Raegar. She threw a small angel statue at the wall in her anger, but maybe Raegar would be better off getting close to Ashlyn. Ashlyn was less danger than herself anyhow and that was what she had wanted? Him to forget her and move on with his life? The thought of him being with anyone else just gave her even more rage.

Raegar headed straight to her room and pounded on the door. He'd heard the sound of something breaking, never a good thing. As he waited for her to let him in, if she did, he took a deep breath. The expression of rage fell away into one of hurt. Was she trying to get rid of him for his so called 'safety' or to get away from him? How could she not understand how much her words hurt?

Vyriel opened the door ready to yell at Ash or Dracul for pestering her, but instead found herself with a trembling lip in front of Raegar. The sight of him made her lose all words, so she stepped to the side to let them in. How could she express how she felt if it always led to fights? "I didn't expect it to be you," she muttered softly and sat down on the bed.

"Why not?" He quickly regained his composure and stepped in, closing the door behind him. Raegar felt his anger dull. By now he was tired of fighting. It seem like none of the points he was trying desperately to make even mattered to her. Not even telling her how much it would hurt worked. She was so convinced that she was somehow going to do more damage than that.

"You're cross with me still. I figured even if you didn't follow Ashlyn you would want your space," she replied. After a few moments she took a shaky breath, "I need you to show me what I mean to you," she whispered. "Because so far I feel like most of the time we fight and when we don't fight...I end up crying," she muttered the last bit more to herself than him.

He sat down next to her and kissed her on the lips, deeply, before pulling away and not meeting her eyes. "...Don't know if there's anyway to express it....Just...That I love you, too. If you leave you'll break my heart. I have...never...been more honest and...open with anyone before you."

Vyriel scooted herself closer to him and nodded her head against his shoulder, "I won't be the same after I take this step though. I just...want you to know." She could feel her heart shattering to the floor in a million pieces, the lump in her throat refusing to leave. "I can never stop loving you," she whispered before standing up and grabbing a heart shaped locket and handing it to him.

He took the locket and looked it over. "..Thank you." He couldn't trust that she wouldn't still leave him. At least this seemed to get across something. "I don't care if you'll be different...I'm sure I'll be different, too."

"The transition could possibly alter...everything about me from my appearance to...my emotions. When Yahweh tried to transition he was so full of hate that he...the things he did to me were unpleasant and he was highly unstable at the end," Vyriel replied with a frown. "If I don't take this power and make it through the transition then how many more will die? Who will end up next? Foster? Lucifer? ...You?"

"Then we just have to do things differently than him. Clearly something made his fail. So we have to learn from  that a get through it." Raegar ran his fingers over the locket in his hand, feeling calmer, slightly.

Tears spilled over her eyes, "No one has ever managed a complete transition. So I just...love me while you can...with what you can. This world is full of so many gray areas that I don't understand. My world is very black or white. You're the first bit of color I've seen."

He...didn't like the sound of that. Why couldn't she just not do the last step and go another route. He held his tongue, knowing it would do no good. "....You'll make it through it...." He said it out of stubbornness and a need to assure himself. He didn't want to lose her.

When their food arrived, Foster dug in eagerly, moaning in enjoyment at the taste. This was so much better than he'd thought and the red wine even complimented his food. He'd heard of that but had never been able to test it till now. After one bite, he beamed at Lucifer, giddy and happy as can be. He snuck a tiny bit to Fie, hidden in his bag.

"I'm glad you're enjoying it. What was your life like, before meeting my sister that is? We tend to have a knack for complicating things."

"Mmm?" He swallowed another mouthful before replying properly, "I delivered produce and travelled a lot. So, other then my job, I wasn't doing much. I can't say it was boring, though."

Lucifer nodded, " It must've been nice. Traveling I mean."

"Yeah. I love traveling...It gets tiring and you definitely get a scope on the state of the world...which usually isn't very nice. But I love traveling, still." Foster explained before sipping the wine.

Again, Lucifer nodded, "My cage was...well...what it sounds, though I had a few occasions I was let free. Mostly to clean up a mess from my sister, but sometimes Yahweh would set me loose on the humans."

"That sounds terrible..." Just how bad was this Yahweh? He'd heard nothing good, or near nothing at least, about him. "I'm sorry you had to go through that for...so long." He took another sip of his wine. He couldn't even imagine what living in a cage would be like.

Lucifer should his head and downed his drink in one gulp, "Don't be. Time moves faster for us, though most of the time we can't tell. For instance my sister is thousands of years younger than myself, but if you compare us to human ages she's only about three years younger. For all my brother's flaws though he did have one redeeming quality."

Foster worked at the last bit of his meal, listening, not sure what to think. "Mmm?" He'd taken a big bite during that little fact. Only three human years? But really thousands of years? How...Strange to think about.

"Is everything okay," he questioned before leaning back, "I'm sure it's a lot to take in. How...old we are."

Finishing off the rest of his wine he replied, "It's not the strangest thing to learn.... I'm not surprised, really....Jus'... taking it in."

"You're taking a lot of this pretty well," Lucifer admitted with a lopsided smirk, although it didn't hold all the joy he usually did. Something ate at the back of his mind, though he couldn't tell what it was.

"I guess. Not sure how else to take it, honestly." Fosters, stuck a hand in his bad to feed Fie one last bit and pet him. "Just figured with everything crazy going on, more crazy just makes sense. It would be crazy of me to deny it.."

Lucifer gave a little chuckle, "I suppose that is one way to about it." He finished the rest of his meal and paid the tab. "Is there anything else you'd like to do before we head back? Their dramatics are...a bit exhausting for me, so I certainly wouldn't mind."

"Can we walk around the city a little? I haven't been to this city before." He was, admittedly, getting stir crazy being in the same house for so long. It was weird, to see the same faces day to day, even if it hadn't truly been very long.

"I would enjoy that," Lucifer said, and offered his arm again. The ability to do something...anything to ease the man's worry made his chest swell with a bit of pride. Though...even being close to the man felt nice, but he tried to shrug it off as the Fae nature.

Foster smiled sweetly and gratefully, taking the offered arm. "This way we can explore and take a break from the drama." He wanted Lucifer to stretch his legs and see at least some of the wonders he didn't get to see before. Maybe they would even find some strays.

Lucifer gave a small grunt of agreement and the two began their journey again. "So where did you like to go around here? Or were you all work?"

"I usually take time to sight see between deliveries. I try out some street food if there's any out, scope out where the strays hang out. I also figure out good hiding spots and who the friendliest folks are. Just in case I need them. Mostly, I watch folks. It's relaxing." Foster explained, letting Fie out of his bag, letting him flutter around. There was a brisk wind and Foster shivered a bit, used to his layers instead of thin, silky material.

Noting Foster's discomfort Lucifer snapped his fingers again, and their clothing changed. Foster was back in his usual layers and Lucifer looked a bit like an abercrombie model. When Foster looked across from him he understood why. The window ad across from him is what Lucifer had decided to wear.

Somehow, he found this hilarious, covering his mouth to try and not giggle. Foster couldn't even explain what he found to be so funny, just something about that action tickled him. He...almost felt like Lucifer was trying to impress him. That was silly, of course, but it made him smile.

Lucifer looked down with a sigh of dissatisfaction, "Did I do something to amuse you?" He looked down at his own clothing wondering if there was something wrong with them. Wasn't this what so many coveted?

"I-it's nothing. Don't worry about it." He just smiled, urging Lucifer forward, lightly. "I'm sure they have a park or something not far from here. Most cities do."

Lucifer walked with him keeping an eye on the ads as they walked. He shook his head at the underwear ad with a smirk, though it would not be a bad sight he found it inappropriate and kept walking. They finally reached the park with its high stone statues and rolling hills of gardens.

It was certainly one of the fancier parks he'd seen. Pale eyes looking around, he couldn't keep a grin off his face. New places always carried a refreshing excitement. Fie chirped, delighted with the surroundings. It smelled so floral and it was spacious. He started to fly around them in wide circles, singing a peppy song.

Lucifer sat on a park bench and watched the little bird flutter around. It had been a long time since he had seen such greenery around humans, "It's sad that humans have to create this. How much has been destroyed?"

Foster sat down next to him, stretching out his bad leg and letting it rest. He hadn't realized how much it was hurting until now. "It...is depressing to think of it like that. There are some efforts being made ta try and keep the remaining forests...." He massaged his leg, trying to ease the swelling that had yet to go down much since the stabbing. At least it didn't seem to be getting worse, simply not better. And with everything going on, it was fairly easy to ignore.

"Do you want help with that," Lucifer inquired softly.

Ashlyn and Dracul sat in the office, where Ash was spinning around in Vyriel's chair. "You know, I saw uncle today with a tiny creature. Looked like a fae...or maybe a pixie?"

"It was a halfling." Dracul watched her spin around, one brow raised. "A particularly helpless halfling at that."

"Uncle seems rather fond of it, surprisingly," Ashlyn muttered. "Should we put the thing out of it's misery now? Heaven's knows it will probably be the first to die."

"It'll get rid of baggage too. I don't see why they seem so attached to something so feeble. That halfling will only get in the way, especially if we have to save it." Dracul scowled, turning up his lip at the thought of Foster.

"Now this...this is why you were always my favorite brother," Ashlyn admitted with a wide smirk like a predator. "The werewolves are too reckless...far too much animal in them, mermaids and fae were always too nice and innocent. You...you are geared for war."

Dracul returned the smile, "I've seen enough of war to know that there's no room for the weak on the battlefield. I have no tolerance for dealing with baggage."

"Have I missed anything if interest while away from our mother? Her screams are actually what brought me here," Ashlyn admitted with a grimace. She didn't want to care for the woman that created and abandoned her, but she almost couldn't help it. She certainly admired her at the very least.

"You've missed a lot." Dracul told her roughly the situation, at least as he knew it, finishing with saying how Vy planned on becoming a god and getting revenge. "It's been dramatic, to say the least."

Ashlyn fell silent and grew quite pale, "She always did have a flare when it came to her anger didn't she? Though...do you think she would listen if even I told her not to do it? My decision making has always been poor in her opinion though so it may push her to do it even more."

"If someone like you tells her not to do it, then clearly something is wrong, but she wouldn't see that logic, now would she?"Dracul gave a dry laugh. "You are probably right. She'd only want to do it more."

Vyriel poked her head into the office, frightening the two. "Get out of my chair. We need to have a talk. Is Lucifer still out?"

"He's still out with that...'little bird' of yours." Dracul replied. "What do you need to talk about?"

"We need to find another way for me to transition, because I have no intention of becoming a failure," she told them with a scowl.

Dracul raised his brows in shock. This was good, but unexpected. Looking behind her, he could see a relieved looking Raegar. Just how did he manage to get through to her? "Alright. Good. Let us all talk."

She nudged Ashlyn out of her seat and fixed her daughter with a look of disapproval, "What brought you back home?"

Ash grumpily moved to another seat, propping a foot up on the end table next to her. "I heard you scream, mother. It was loud."

Raegar entered the room and sat on the opposite side from Ash but still close to Vy. He didn't even bother looking at the other two in the room, knowing it would just piss him off.

Her face softened a bit and she hugged the white haired woman. "Then thank you for coming."

Lucifer could feel the prickle of dread touch his neck like a former lover. "We should get back to my sister she is calling for us," Lucifer told Foster. "She would not call if it were a simple strife."

Foster looked up, surprised, and nodded. "Okay...This was really fun. Thank yah so much for dinner and everything." A warm smile graced his lips before turning a bit worried. "You don't think something bad happened do yah?"

"I don't know," Lucifer muttered before holding the other man's arm. The two appeared in Vyriel's office where Vyriel and Ashlyn were hugging. Ash sniffed the air and turned to look at Foster.

"If it isn't our delicate flower," Ash greeted with a smile.

Foster frowned and looked away. Out of everyone here, he trusted her the least. Something about her made him think she thought him as prey. Not a good feeling when you were the weakest in the room.

Vyriel pulled away from the girl and fixed her with another hard state, "No."

"You've missed the most shocking occurrence I've ever witnessed. Raegar actually managed to get Mother to see reason. We're working on a plan for the transition right now," Dracul explained.

Lucifer frowned and sat so the only open place was between himself and Raegar. "At least you're thinking things through now," he muttered.

Foster sat stiffly, relieved that they were finally talking things out. Maybe this would end better. Maybe... He glanced at the red eyed vampire next to Vy, thankful. Raegar intimidated him but he hadn't been outright mean to him. He couldn't think of anyway to try and become his friend or at least on better terms.

"Since you are the ones who wanted me to sit and think about this I think I should hear your ideas first," Vyriel told them as she leaned back in her chair. "Please tell me what you had planned."

"They've no idea what encompasses the transition, be fair. You haven't told them anything about it, but even they can tell it's bad," Lucifer snapped, losing patience with his sister's antics quickly.

"Um." foster spoke up, frowning still. "I think it would be best to go a quieter route at first. Otherwise there would be a mass panic, especially if you start off openly killing folks in the government..." he's seen time and time again where people rebelled when something scary and powerful tried to take control, or even someone simply hated. They got assassinated most times.

For the first time ever Vyriel shot Foster a look so dark and venomous that Lucifer leaned forward in case she tried to attack him, "Tell me, how many of my people shall I put on the line for myself?"

Even Ashlyn appeared surprised by her sudden hostility toward the halfling, "He's right mother. This is a war, casualties are bound to happen, even if we don't want them to."

Foster jolted back at her glare, half expecting her to actual attack. Keeping his arms close to him, he lowered his head. Why was she so mad at him? He knew he was right and even the scary demon women agreed. Did she not understand what her actions would do? The halfling knew she was ignorant to humans, so why did she insist she knew how they would react?

Anger welled up in his throat, choking him briefly, begging him to let the words out for once. Eyes darkening, he set his jaw and looked up at her, still frightened, but resolute. "If yah barge in like you are so sure is right, yer putting us all on the line. Ya''ll cause a riot and mass panic and end up killing more folks all around!" shed never seen a mass panic had she? She'd never been through one, who was she to decide it was worth it?

Vyriel rose at his tone and gripped him roughly by the cheeks, all signs of previous affection disappearing, "I may have created these creature to protect you from humans, but if you raise your voice to me again no one will be able to save you."

Lucifer stood up and pushed her back, "You're wrong right now Vyriel and if you keep walking the path that you're on you'll be lost to everyone. You'll be less than Yahweh, or have you forgotten that this world does not remember your existence?"

Ashlyn and Dracul pulled Vyriel away from Lucifer, sensing a very bad rift forming at Vyriel's lashes. "Mother, as much as we wouldn't mind not having the baggage of the fae...you'd never forgive anyone who hurt him. Including yourself," Ash whispered in her ear tensely. Vyriel's lip twitched, like a hungry animal ready to attack and in that moment it was easy to see how the darkest and most animalistic creatures had been born from her.

Ashlyn wanted to cower away from her mother's blind fury, but knew it was more important to hold her at bay. She sent a glance to her mother's lover, hoping he would be able to calm the wild nature that threatened to burn out of control.

Foster had dropped to the ground when Lucifer had moved between them, shaking with fear and hurt. Fie cuddled close to him, keeping an eye on Vy, no longer trusting her. She'd scared his companion. Threatened him and laid hands on him. She wouldn't be allowed to touch him again if Fie had any say.

Raegar had stood up at vys outburst, shocked at her behavior. Appalled even. "Vyriel! ...Vyriel calm down. He's not trying to betray you." How was he expected to calm her down? Usually, he only made it worse, but if he didn't try she was going to do something she'd regret, like hurting that fae boy she'd once been so protective of. He gently grabbed her arm, urging her to look his way and trying not to make it seem like an aggressive move.

Vyriel shook beneath his grasp, "Get him out," she hissed at Lucifer, her nostrils flaring wide.

Lucifer wasted no time in grabbing Foster's arm and disappearing. When the two arrived back in the park from earlier Lucifer looked down at the fae, conflicted. "We should give her time to calm down before going back," Lucifer said awkwardly. "Are you...are you okay?"

Fosters breath was shuttering and he looked nothing less than terrified and hurt. Yet he forced a nod. "c-could you h-help me to...to somewhere private? I think...i need some alone time." He felt sick, like last time, but so much worse. He couldn't have this happen  in front of someone.  He didn't want it to happen at all, but he at least didn't want it to happen in front of Lucifer. The halflings eyes were already near black once more, the feeling of falling apart, suffocating him.

Lucifer gave a curt nod before they disappeared again, finding themselves in a house much smaller than Vyriel's. "There is a room upstairs," Lucifer told him quietly. "Shall I take you up or leave you be?"

With her head in her hands muttering obscenities was where Vyriel sat. She was on her porch, alone, cursing herself for her rage. However, she couldn't help but feel that a small bit of her was victorious no matter how bad it felt. She had pushed away two people who were most likely to convince her that her path was wrong. Lucifer and Foster would no longer have to witness the darkness that would come for her.

"I still dont get you." Raegar said quietly behind her. He wasn't going to let her be alone for long, not when he wasn't sure if she would leave on him. "The meeting was so we could discuss."

"I do not wish to fight with you right now Raegar. I have just shattered all trust my little bird had with me to keep him safe," she replied through gritted teeth. "The further he is from danger the better he will have it. Ashlyn and Dracul were plotting his death. What could I do, but send him running?"

"do you really think that?" Raegar questioned, shaking his head. She was lying to herself. He could tell. He sat down next to her, silent for a few moments before adding. "I hope you know you aren't getting rid of me."

In that moment, a little pink bird dive in, chittering and chattering angrily. How dare she threaten his friend. How dare she harm him! Now they were separated and the little bit didn't know where to go. His companion was upset and fie couldn't get to him!

Vyriel glared at the bird, "I suggest you get going too, before I decide I regret saving you," she hissed at it before turning her attention back to Raegar. "I think everyone should get as far away from me as possible because I'm a time bomb. When I finally go off it will take out anyone near me." She gave a sad sort of chuckle before it turned into sobbing, "I've run my little bird away and made sure he'd never return to me."

"and what now? What will happen to him out there?" Raegar furrowed his brows, he was certain those two would be coming back, more so now that the faes bird was stuck here. "litteraly what everyone has been trying to say is that there's a way to go about this without you so calls exploding. You're so dead set on this idea that you have to go this route, that this is the One And Only route, by it's not. Everyone but you can see that."

Fie refused to flutter away, scared and angry all at once. He'd never been separated for long from foster. How was foster dealing?

"That's where you're wrong," a smooth voice echoed through the night. "In a sense at any rate." The man that came forth had the same color hair as Lucifer, though he appeared a bit older. Humans would guess him in his thirties. His green eyes shone in the night like lanterns as he moved up toward his sister. "I think it's time my baby sister was taught what it meant to be a creator."

Foster sat in the room Lucifer brought him to and covered his face, hearing his footsteps recede. Shaking still, he gasped for breath and watched his harms deform and melt. It was horrifying and nauseating. It was worse than last time. He couldn't see it but he could feel that other parts of him where off. This time, more than just his arms felt insubstantial. Despite his panic, he stayed as silent as he could, knowing Lucifer could probably hear him.

It was only in this silence he realized his little bird was missing and panic struck him to his core. Oh, no. Oh no, oh no! Where did he go? Did they leave him? What if she had hurt his bird? What if something happened to Fie? Foster let out a panicked cry and scrambled to his feet, only to fall over, hard, disassociating from his body.  He needed Fie!

Her head snapped up at the sound of a voice she hadn't heard in years, "Yahweh," she breathed and stood up. This was not a happy reunion like Raegar had seen with Lucifer. Instead she looked terrified. "I watched you die?"

"You watched my rebirth," he snapped back at her and pushed her to the ground. "You and your stupid creatures were meant to die from the very beginning! You defied me at every turn, created monsters and being of useless decoration, and still, you think you're worthy of being a god." Yahweh stalked forward making Vyriel crawl back. "I should have gotten rid of you as soon as I threw Lucifer in that pit you released him from."

This was Yahweh? Raegar glared up at him and got between him and Vy. This wouldn't end well, but he wouldn't stand for this to happen. "Get the fuck away from her!" Red eyes blazing, he didn't plan on fighting, just creating distance between this man and his love. That fear in her eyes...Clearly this man was one to hate.

Yahweh let out a cruel laugh, "How precious. He actually thinks you're worth loving." The cruel God picked Raegar up by the throat and threw him aside. It gave Vy enough time to scramble to her feet and launch herself at him.

"Don't you touch him," she yelled, hitting him hard with every word. Yahweh gripped her by the throat and slammed her to the ground as hard as he could.

Raegar struggled to stand up again, breathless but pissed now. "Just leave her alone dammit! What are you trying to prove?!" He came over and got between the two of them once more, stubborn.

Lucifer felt as if he were being slammed into concrete over and over. A wave of panic gripped him as he knew exactly whose pain he was feeling. He scrambled up the stairs and paced back and forth at the door before finally deciding to simply shout through it. "Foster I don't blame you if you don't want to go back, but she...she's in danger right now. I can't...I don't know what's causing it, but I know she can't fight this alone."

Hearing this, Foster pushed himself up from the ground and limped to the door. He didn't know what he looked like, he didn't know how Lucifer would react. But he was going to help somehow. Opening the door, he looked up at the larger man, still crying and nodded. His arms were deformed, clawed, and melting and his eyes, whites and all, a deep purple. His body looked not quite solid and small horns were peaking out of his hair.

"L-lets go. Fie's st-stuck over there."

The two appeared at the edge of the forest and witnessed Vyriel's head be slammed against a rock repeatedly. Her face was bloody and swollen, and Raegar was in a heap trying to pull himself up.

"Go inside and get the others. She can't handle Yahweh on her own," Lucifer whispered, his voice shaking as he prepared himself to attack his brother.

Nodding, Foster grabbed the first stick he saw and hurried inside. Why was he the one made to rush and get others when his rushing consisted of him limping as fast as he could? He didn't know but he tried, regardless. As soon as he was within earshot, he shouted for the others to hurry and come, they were under attack. Hearing his bird rush towards him, he quickly grabbed fie and tuck him in his jacket. He was going to help this time. He didn't know how but he was going to try.

Ashlyn was the first out the door, and seeing her mother being thrown like a limp doll was enough to infuriate the demon. Her skin ripped away as she grew three sizes, a beast of fire, bone and what appeared to be charred muscle. She was not at all human like as she rushed forward to rip the man away.

Lucifer jumped in front of Vyriel and began exchanging blows with his brother. Dracul rushed to her side and tried to pull her in as she stood. "G-Get Rae," she croaked and fixed Yahweh with a dark glare.

"You can't even stand up to fight, how do you think you can defeat him like this?"

"Doesn't matter. Save Raegar," she demanded as she hobbled forward, out for blood. He had done this on purpose. Her brother was out to kill her. Her brother was behind it all. Vyriel felt her trust in everything shatter as she began to lose the ground beneath her. She would give anything to be disconnected from her body. To not know the woman that who felt so abandoned by her own.

Raegar forced himself to his feet, staggering. Seeing Vyriel rush right back into fighting, he glared at Dracul. "I'm not leaving her side." Why would she understand? Why did she have to be so stubborn? He rushed right after Vyriel, planning to attack with her no matter what she might say. Foster had staggered back out finally, watching the chaos. He had to help. What could he do? There had to be something... Looking down at his deformed arms, he took in the claws, grimacing but determined. Making sure Fie was safe, he let his anger take over, letting the feeling of losing himself well over.

Everyone was fighting and trying to help. No one expected him to help, infact most of them considered him a liability. He hated that. He hated not being taken seriously, being useless, being afraid all of the time. He didn't want to fight but he would if he had to, and he had to. Hobbling forward, ignoring the pain in his leg, he stretched his fingers. A little closer....then he lunged, one clawed hand swinging forward.

Yahweh turned his anger to the surprising halfling and aimed to attack. He was thrown off when Vyriel ran headfirst into his back. She used her razor sharp teeth to bite into his shoulder hard. Foster's clawed hand struck Yahweh's neck, nearly severing it from his body. Stunned by his own effectiveness, the halfling's eyes widened as blood splattered all over Vyriel and himself.

Vyriel and the body landed hard on the concrete. The strain from the fight left her unable to move or even heal herself. She had exerted far too much strength, but it had done nothing. It had been her little bird that delivered the final blow. Though she was happy to see him she couldn't bring herself to have hope that he would stay. He had simply come back to protect Fie. She closed her eyes and waited for his blow to strike her. She deserved it.

She let a few tears fall down her cheeks, ready for her own death. It was ironic that the person she had once found so weak was the one she assumed would kill her. Not Ashlyn, but Foster.

Foster staggered back from them, stunned and horrified. He had helped...a bit to well. He'd killed someone...and so effortlessly. He fell back and covered his face, only hold his bloodied and deformed hand far away from himself. Disgusting. Repulsive. Terrifying. He was going to get sick. Fie wiggled out of his jacket and settled on his shoulder, chirping softly and leaning against his cheek.

Lucifer looked between his sister and Foster before pulling Foster into a protective embrace, "It's okay."

Ashlyn approached the group, as nude as could be, but back to looking human again. She knelt down to her mother and touched the wounds that weren't healing. "You can't go like this, we still have to kill that bastards hunting your creations."

"I-Is she okay? D-did I hurt her?" Foster turned his dark eyes to the angel on the ground, unmoving. "D-did I hurt her?!" Tears and panic welled up as he shook in Lucifer's arms. How could anyone touch him after this? Or even want to be near him?

"It was Yahweh, not you. I don't know how long she took that beating. She had hid it from me until she couldn't any longer," he whispered. He could feel himself getting ready to break, but he focused on Foster, letting his gaze travel to Raegar. If even Ashlyn was bothered by her passing then he couldn't imagine how he would react.

Raegar had dropped down next to Vy, pushing Yahweh's body off and holding her's close. No breathing, no pulse. Was she really dead? "St-stupid woman." Red eyes filled with tears and he kept his head turned away from the others, trying to hide his shaking. How dare she leave him?

Foster started to sob. Even doing what he did hadn't helped. He was still useless and he'd killed someone. His arms started to melt more, horns growing a bit, and dark vapors started to rise. From his skin.

"What a way to say I love you," she croaked, wincing as she opened her eyes. "I can't heal myself."

Raegat jumped at her voice, staring down at her and shook his head as more tears fell. "I don't understand you, y-you crazy woman. I love you. Fucking hell. You gave us a damn scare!" Without looking at Lucifer he asked. "Can you heal her? Or anything?"

"I do not have that ability. It is hers...and Yahweh's," Lucifer admitted. "My abilities are more...physical."

Dracul lifted his mother's body from Raegar's embrace. "I think we need to go in and figure out what this all means. Especially that..." Dracul told them with a nod at Foster.

"Foster does not have to go in if he does not wish to," Lucifer growled.

"Lucifer is right," Vy told Dracul as he opened his mouth to argue. "He should not be forced around me if he does not wish it."

Foster looked between everyone, eyes wet. If he didn't go in then what was he supposed to do? Sit her with the corpse of the man he killed? "I-I'll go in." He struggled to stand up, leg swollen badly now.

Raegar stayed close to Vy, wanting to hold her but afraid of jostling her wounds. He was anxious, upset and pissed off, more anxious than anything else. "You better be careful with her."He hissed quietly to Dracul, no real malice behind it.

Dracul lay her in her bed without giving Raegar a remark. He didn't want to hurt her either, and he thought it best to keep quiet. "I think it would be best if we leave her alone," he told everyone.

"I do not want to be alone," she told them without looking at them. "I am...afraid of being alone, but I am also afraid of everyone around me." Her face crumpled in distress.

"Then I'm staying."Raegar settled down on a chair next to her bed, stuborn. "No one here is going to hurt you and the threats been taken care of." The vampire glanced over at Foster. Had that halfling not fought when he did..

Foster sat down at the far edge of the room, convinced that Vyriel wouldn't want him near and still afraid to get near. He was also convinced that no one would want to be near him after murdering someone. He still felt so sick from it.

"He was alive...he wanted me dead..." She broke into hysterics, hiccuping only to cry out in pain.

Lucifer leaned down to Foster, "I think...she needs to know if you forgive her for what happened." Lucifer looked over at his sister with a frown.

"I do." Foster replied immediately. "I forgive yah, Vyriel... I'm...I'm still a bit scared, but I'm not mad." He still cared about her, a lot.

"D-don't be afraid," she called from the bed and tried to sit up.

"Lay back down," Dracul scolded harshly.

Raegar frowned and grapped Vy's arm gently. "Careful."

Foster tried to fake a small laugh for her and said, "I-it's fine. Like I said last time, I'm afraid of everyone." He looked back down looking at his melting hands again. The blood was still there. He really needed to get it off.

Vyriel flinched away from Raegar's grasp and looked away, "I'm sorry," she admitted sadly.

Lucifer frowned at her before grabbing Foster's hand. "We should get you cleaned up," he told the smaller man.

Foster jolted when Lucifer grabbed his hand but nodded. He was tired of walking but he'd do it anyways. It didn't matter that his knee was swollen. He'd just killed a man. Getting up with the larger man, he held his arm gently with his deformed but clean hand, not wanting to hurt him. On the way out he was limping worse than usual but ignoring it.

"Afterward we can get you to a bed and deal with your leg," Lucifer added with a deepening frown.

Her body throbbed painfully as she tried to heal herself once again. If any of the people around her decided to kill her, then she wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

Raegar kept close to her, worried and trying to comfort her in whatever way he can.

Foster staggered next to Lucifer, trying to hold it together. He was really starting to hit him just what he'd done. He could recall the feeling of tearing into the man's neck and it had him near puking. He needed this blood off of him  soon.
