Turn One: Duel What Now?

“Are we just going to ignore the fact that these two suddenly appeared out of nowhere? because people popping out of thin air just doesn’t happen,” the blue-haired one inputted.

“You’re right, Syrus, it was pretty crazy to watch. It was like the sea just spit them out!” the brunette exclaimed.

“You’re forgetting the giant portal that opened up in the ocean, Jaden,” their raven-haired colleague reminded.

“I don’t know if I believe it was a portal, Bastion, but…”

“Would you mind not talking about us like we’re not here? it’s kind of rude, ya know?” Blue said with an annoyed tone.

“Right, sorry. That was rude of us. Anyway, you two really need to be getting out of those wet clothes. We’ll take you to the nurses office so you can get looked at while you’re at it,” Bastion suggested.

“There’s a Pokemon center out here?” Red inquired, earning a confused look from the trio.

“I’m afraid I don’t quite understand. What’s a Pokemon Center?” Bastion asked curiously.

“You know, a place where you can heal... your… Pokemon…?” Blue stopped as he reached down to his belt and felt absolutely nothing.

“Uh… Red?”

“Yeah?”

“Where the hell are my Pokemon!?”

Reborn To Duel

Turn One

Duel What Now?

Red and Blue sat inside the nurses office of Duel Academy while the woman known as Fonda Fontaine, the nurse as well as head of what was known as the Obelisk Blue Girls Dormitory, checked them out. Beside them were cups of tea, used to warm them up.

"Well, you two don't seem to have any signs of hypothermia or a cold for that matter, so that's good..." Fonda said as she scribbled something down on her chart before turning to the three who brought them in. "You said they just came out of the ocean?"

Bastion nodded and folded his arms.

"Yeah! the three of us saw them wash up on shore, and then this p--"

"I think what Jaden is trying to say is, yes... these two just washed up on the shores of our academy, almost as if they'd been tossed there by the ocean itself," Bastion quickly cut in, placing a hand over Jaden's mouth to stop him from talking.

"Is that so?" Fonda asked, raising a brow at Bastion's strange actions.

"That's about the size of it," Red inputted, pulling the towel a little more snugly around him after taking a sip of his tea. "We still have no idea how we got there..."

Blue knew that was only partially the truth. Red was a very honest guy and was usually the first to tell the truth, however... he could see why he hid part of it from them. If the people of whatever world they landed in, knew that they were from another world, there's no telling what might happen. There was no sense in causing mass hysteria when there was no need. Still, the situation was a puzzling matter.

"Do you remember anything else? maybe what you two were doing before you were tossed ashore?" Fonda inquired.

Blue shook his head and took a sip of his own tea.

"Not really. Everything's really fuzzy right now, but I'm sure it'll come back to us, eventually..." Blue replied after sneezing.

"I see," Fonda mused, tapping her chin in thought before writing down something else on her chart. "I think I may have a solution for the both of you, but I will need to talk to the chancellor about this. If the two of you are going to be here, we need to arrange a place for you two to stay. That might take some doing as all the dorms are pretty full as is..."

"They could stay in our dorm!" Jaden volunteered enthusiastically. "We've got an extra room that hasn't been filled, so they can use it until we figure something out, right?"

Fonda smiled warmly at Jaden's offer.

"That does sound like a good idea. I'd put them in the Obelisk dorm, however... Dr. Crowler isn't exactly the type to take in any that aren't... well, you know how he is. And from what I understand, Ra Yellow is completely full," Fonda responded, setting her clipboard down and taking the thermometers out of their mouths.

As she set them down, the door to her office opened to reveal a young woman with long blonde locks, fair skin and brown eyes. She wore a white and blue school vest that had a collar as well as a short blue skirt and matching boots. Blue shifted his gaze towards her and took note of the air of confidence that seemed to be about her. She held her head high and walked as though she had a purpose in every step. He also took note that, in her arms were his and Red's clothes. Following her, were two young women that were dressed in the same uniform as her.

"Yo, Alexis!" Jaden waved, earning a wave from the woman in return.

"Here you go Miss Fontaine. They just finished drying," Alexis said as she walked into the nurses office.

Fonda turned towards her and took the clothes and gave them back to their owners. The other two that were with her, turned towards Red and Blue and canted their heads, curiosity shown in their depths as they watched them take their clothes and set them down.

"Thank you Alexis, girls have been a big help," Fonda stated with a smile, turning away to send a quick message to Chancellor Sheppard.

Alexis nodded and turned her gaze towards Red and Blue as well, a curious expression etching its way onto her features as she observed the two. She couldn't help but wonder what exactly happened. Shifting her attention to Jaden and company, she figured she could get the information out of them later.

"Glad we could be of service! if you need anymore help, please let us know!" chirped the raven-haired one with a bright smile.

"Thank you Mindy, I'm happy to hear that. Now, you two had better get back to class. Dr. Crowler isn't one to tolerate students being gone too long," Fonda reminded them, prompting the trio to make their exit.

"Unless they're Obelisks that is," Jaden chuckled to himself.

"What is it with all the odd names?" Blue muttered, earning a sigh from Red.

"Need I remind you that--"

"One more word about my name and--"

"Is there a problem here, Miss Fontaine?" a masculine voice cut in, turning everyone's attention to the man who had just stepped into the office.

He was a rather tall, cheery looking man with a bald head and a neatly trimmed beard and mustache. He had a muscular appearance and a slightly rotund stomach. He wore a maroon jacket with a yellow dress shirt and a red tie beneath. He wore gray slacks and black dress shoes as well. While he seemed jubulant, he also carried with him a somewhat intimidating prescence, at least, upon first glance.

"Oh! Chancellor Sheppard! yes, I was just about to contact you about these two," Fonda exclaimed upon seeing him.

The smiling bald superintendant nodded and stepped farther inside, letting the doors shut behind him.

"I came to check on the two patients that had been admitted here. Since they arrived, they've been the topic of conversation in the halls. I got your message and decided to see what the fuss was about," Sheppard said with a twinkle in his eye. "So, boys... Miss Fontaine tells me you two just washed up on shore with no recollection of anything that happened beforehand. That's quite the story."

Red and Blue nodded.

"Hmm... Miss Fontaine, you mentioned that the Slifer dorm has a spare room, right?" Sheppard inquired, getting an affirmative nod from the nurse. With a smile he said, "then we'll contact Professor Banner and see if these two are able to stay in there for the time being while we figure out what to do with these two."

"That sounds like a great idea! in the meantime, why don't you three show our new guests around the campus? if they're going to be staying for a while, they'll need to know where everything is," Fonda told the trio.

"Leave it to us, Miss Fontaine!" Jaden said excitedly.

"Yeah, we won't let you down!" Syrus echoed.

Bastion concurred with a nod and looked over at Red and Blue, still wondering about the duo and where they had come from. He knew he saw a portal open up underwater. He recalled a bright flash of light before both Red and Blue were tossed out of the ocean like wreckage from a ship.

"I'll see you all later on. I've got a few things I need to do before the day's over. Jaden, I'm counting on you three to make these boys feel welcome. Who knows, maybe we'll get a chance to see what their dueling skills are like," Sheppard said with a grin before walking out.

"Oh yeah! that'd be totally sweet!" Jaden exclaimed, pumping his fist into the air with a grin.

"There's just one problem with that, Jaden. These two don't look like they have a deck," Bastion pointed out.

"A deck?" Red inquired, pulling on his black shirt and vest while Blue worked his way into his clothes.

"Yeah, you know? of Duel Monster cards!" Syrus chimed in.

"Duel what now?" Blue asked with a raised brow, zipping up his pants beneath the towel before hopping off the bed he was on.

Jaden, Syrus and Bastion all looked at each other. In that moment, they all came to the same realization, and Jaden, for the first time, thought that maybe, just maybe Bastion was right about the whole dimensional portal thing. Red and Blue had no idea what Duel Monsters were, and that just would not sit well with Jaden, who in that moment was determined to change that immediately.
