As Luna (Aka Y/n) stares at Raphtalia, she worries for her.

Y/n: Don't worry... Me and Naofumi will save you. I promise.

Slave Trader: Sir, This slave here is my recommendation. It's level 75.

As Luna keeps staring at Raphtalia, Naofumi looks at the slave that was recommended.

Naofumi: How much for this one?

Slave Trader: Well, it is highly capable in battle. How does 15 gold pieces sound.

Luna then looks towards the Slave trader.

Luna: Is that some kind of twisted joke? Why would you show us the most expensive thing you have if you know we can't afford it?

Slave Trader: Wow, for someone so young, you're rather intelligent. Since I believe you two might become my best patrons, I need to have you both develop keen eyes, you see. Well... Now that you two have seen my best, let me ask you sir: what kind of slave are you in the market for?

Naofumi: Something cheap, but obedient to work.

Slave Trader: In other words, a demi-human if I'm right?

As the Slave Trader and Naofumi talk, Luna clangs on the bars.

Luna: Hey, can you raise your head for me?

Luna then see Raphtalia raise her head to her as she looks into Luna's eyes.

Y/n: Wow... when you see it in person, you see the true sadness behind it all... I can't believe she's been put through such misery. Well, I think we can change that.

Luna: Hey, what about this one?

The Slave Trader and Naofumi then walk over as they see Raphtalia.

Slave Trader: Oh that one? She's half-raccoon, is diseased, and has a mental disorder. I'm having a real hard time dealing with her myself.

She then looks at Naofumi as she then has a feared look on her face.

Luna: How did that happen?

Slave Trader: You see, her previous owner loved his torture. I doubt she'll last much longer though. I would suggest picking something-

Naofumi: I've decided. I'll take this one.

Raphtalia's face then turns to one of pure fear over what Naofumi said.

*Tiny Time-skip*

Luna's POV

After Naofumi decides to buy Raphtalia, I look and see that she's still scared out of her mind. I turn my staff into a dagger and cut a wound for Naofumi so he can perform the ritual.

Slave Trader: Let's begin.

Before the Slave Trader does it, I form a magic circle around Raphtalia to block out pain.

Luna: Don't worry. I only used it so if there any pain to it, she won't hurt.

Slave Trader: I will take your word for it.

The Slave Trader then walks towards Raphtalia, but instead of resisting like in the anime, she shows no resistance. I guess it must be really painful for her. The Slave Trader then draws a circle on her chest as the ritual takes effect. Unfortunately, she only feels just a few ticks.

Naofumi: Mind explaining...

Slave Trader: It's very simple. The slave crest on her chest makes it impossible for her to defy you. Now this girl is all yours, you two.

Naofumi: Thirty silvers, right?

Naofumi then places a bag with 31 silvers in it as he walks towards Raphtalia.

Slave Trader: There's one extra in here.

Naofumi: That's your commission. You were going to wring it our of me anyway, weren't you?

Slave Trader: You and that younger sister of yours certainly know your stuff.

Naofumi: Well, I guess we should know your name.

She doesn't say it.

Naofumi: Tell me your name.

She doesn't say it again. Before Naofumi says it again, I go up to her and get to her level.

Luna: Don't worry. We just want to know your name. Once the pain dies down, will you tell us?

Raphtalia: *nods* My name's... Raphtalia...

Naofumi: Raphtalia, huh?

Naofumi then grabs her and drags her with him.

Naofumi: Let's go.

Luna: Naofumi, hold on! You're hurting her!

As I chase after Naofumi, I hear the slave trader.

Slave Trader: I'm looking forward to your next visit.

*Time-skip*

No one's POV

After Naofumi bought Raphtalia, they went to the shop to get her a weapon.

Shopkeep: Welcome! Oh, it you two again.

The Shopkeep then notices Raphtalia with them.

Shopkeep: Hey, hey... What's with the girl?

Luna: Long story. For right now, we need a weapon she can use and we need it under six silvers. Oh, and some clothes if possible.

Shopkeep: You got it.

A little bit later, Raphtalia comes out of the changing area with a dagger and some new clothes.

Naofumi: Took you long enough.

Raphtalia: I-I'm sorry.

Naofumi: Whatever.

Luna: Hey, be a bit nicer to her.

Naofumi: I'll do what I can. Now Raphtalia, draw your knife.

As Raphtalia is confused, Naofumie reveals an orange balloon, scaring her a bit. He then holds it out a bit.

Naofumi: Let me see you stab and burst this thing.

Raphtalia: N-No...

Naofumi: This is an order!

The crest on Raphtalia then starts to hurt her, and while Naofumi feels nothing, Luna feels sorrow.

Y/n: Don't worry Raphtalia. We're here to save you from this past.

Luna: Raphtalia... I know you don't want to do it, but you're hurting yourself by doing it. Just do your best!

Raphtalia: O-Okay...

Raphtalia then gets up and goes to stab the monster. It then grabs her blade and pushes her back.

Naofumi: Too weak!!

Luna: Hey, try putting some of your muscle into it.

Raphtalia listens to what Luna said, and then she manages to kill it. Luna, Naofumi, and Raphtalia then each get 15 EXP. Luna then walks up to Raphtalia and pats her on the back.

Luna: Hey, you did well.

Naofumi: Huh? Why did we get EXP?

Shopkeep: Probably because you set her as a companion when forming the pact. Wait, didn't you do that with-

Before he can finish the sentence, Luna covers his mouth.

Luna: Don't talk about her please.

Naofumi: *To Raphtalia* Listen up. From here on out, I expect you to fight monsters with my little sister for me. I bought you with what little money I had. You'd better help me recoup your cost, at least.

Shopkeep: Kid, you're not going to die a painless death.

Naofumi: Thanks for the compliment.

Naofumi then starts to leave.

Luna: Let's go Raphtalia!

Raphtalia: R-Right!!

As the three leave, Naofumi looks in his hand.

Naofumi: Three silvers left...

Luna: Don't worry. We'll be fine!

Naofumi: Hopefully...

The three then hear and see someone treating some other demi-humans like utter shit. As they look, Raphtalia's stomach grumbles.

Naofumi: Are you hungry?

Raphtalia: *shakes her head no* No.

Luna: Well, even if you aren't, I am.

Naofumi: Well, we can't have our two attackers fighting on an empty stomach. Let's get some lunch you two.

Luna: Got it!

Raphtalia: Lunch?

As they walk in, Raphtalia notices a sign saying that they don't serve demi-humans. Before she says anything about it, Luna stops her.

Luna: We don't really care about rules. Just go in.

Raphtalia shows a bit of hesitation, so Luna smiles a pulls her.

Luna: Come on already! There's going to be a plate just for you!

As Luna brings Raphtalia in, someone notices them.

Waiter: Welcome! Ack, it's the Shield-

The waiter doesn't even finish his sentence as Luna looks at him with a dark yandere face.

Y/n: *Image Below* Go on. Finish that sentence about Naofumi. I dare you.

Everyone around them just stays quiet and doesn't even say anything as they sit down. Naofumi then breaks the silence.

Naofumi: Can we order?

The waiter turns around, and is scared shitless that she still has then yandere look in her eyes.

Waiter: Y-Yeah! O-Of course you can!!!!

Someone goes to insult Raphtalia, but one look from Luna shuts them up. It also shuts up everyone else.

Naofumi: I'll have the cheapest lunch set you have. And those two will have whatever that kid's having.

Waiter: That'll be nine coppers.

Naofumi: Sure.

As Naofumi hands him the cash, he then quickly runs away.

Raphtalia: Why?

Luna: Hmm?

Naofumi: Did you want something else?

Raphtalia: Why are you getting it for me?

Naofumi: Because you looked like you wanted to try it.

The waiter then comes back with their food.

Waiter: Here's your food.

He then hands out each of the food, and as Luna digs in, Raphtalia looks at it with sparkles in her eyes. Luna then notices this and responds.

Luna: Come on, Raphtalia, dig in!!!

Raphtalia: Can I really?

Naofumi: Yes, just eat up.

Raphtalia then grabs a bit of rice and put it in her mouth. She then starts to grab more and keeps eating from it. She then does something weird, but Luna brings her a water.

Luna: Here. You're going to want this.

Raphtalia then grabs the water and then drinks all of it. She then finishes and resumes to eating.

Luna: Do you like it?

Raphtalia then looks at Luna and gives her a big smile.

Y/n: CAN'T.... CONTAIN... CUTENESSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Luna then quickly covers her nose to prevent a nosebleed.

Naofumi: What are you doing?

Luna: *holding nose* Preventing a nosebleed.

*Time-skip*

We then see the three by a campfire since they went through killing a lot of monsters. Raphtalia had reached Level 3, Naofumi reached Level 5, and Luna has reached Level 15.

Raphtalia: Master... Who are you two?

Luna: We're both heroes. Naofumi's the Shield Hero while I'm the Staff Heroine.

Raphtalia: You mean... you both are one of the Five Cardinal Heroes?

Luna: Yup.

*Flashback*

Raphtalia's POV

Raphtalia's father: Raphtalia... Do you know of the five legendary heroes?

Raphtalia(Flashback): Yep! The ones with the sword, the bow, and the spear... And then, the one with the shield and the one with the staff!!

Raphtalia's father: Correct. The Shield Hero, in particular, treated us demi-humans very well.

Raphtalia(Flashback): Really? I'd like to meet him.

Raphtalia's mother: If you're a good girl, I'm sure you'll meet him one day.

Raphtalia(Flashback): But what about the staff? What's the staff heroine like?

Raphtalia's father: She's a unique one. She's normally related to one of the other heroes, so sje works with them, and although very young, she has a big mind. Also, while the kingdom's say that all the staff heroines before have all had the same personality, that's actually a lie.

Raphtalia(Flashback): How?

Raphtalia's father: You see, each staff heroine has a different look to their staff, what they can create with it, and their personality.

Raphtalia(Flashback): Wow!!!

*End of Flaschback*

No one's POV

Raphtalia: The Shield Hero and the Staff Heroine... U-Um... What are your two's names?

Naofumi: Naofumi Iwatani. This is my younger sister, Luna Iwatani.

Raphtalia: Naofumi... Iwatani... and Luna... Iwatani...

Raphtalia then starts to cough a bit, but Naofumi hands her something.

Naofumi: Drink this. It's a medicine I blended. Apparently, it can cure mild colds. Drink it.

Raphtalia then grabs the drink, takes a sip of it, and then immediately tries to spit it out.

Raphtalia: So bitter!

Luna: Well, the best medicine's always the worst tasting.

Raphtalia then tries again, but shrikes in the disgust of it all.

*Time-skip*

After a while, Raphtalia got to sleep, Naofumi watches the bonfire, and Luna has walked off a bit.

Luna: Let's try something. TRACE ON.

Luna's staff then changes into two weapons that she knows very well.

Luna: Looks like it worked.

Y/n: That's good. I now know what I can use to take down the pope. Luckily, I have all this time to work on making sure I can recite the spell properly.

Before Luna can start working on writing it down, she hears Raphtalia scream.

Y/n: Shit I forgot about that!! Raphtalia has nightmares right now!!!

Luna then starts running as fast as she could over to the campfire and sees that Naofumi is already hugging her.

Y/n: Whew, that was close.

*Time-skip*

After a long night and collecting herbs to sell, the three then head to a shop run by a herbalist. Naofumi then hands him the herbs as he inspects them.

Herbalist: The quality's not bad. Are you well versed in making medicines, Sir Hero?

Naofumi: Yesterday was my first try.

Herbalist: Oh?

Luna: We were wondering... which is more profitable right now, the herbs or the medicine?

Herbalist: Due to the Wave's impact, medicine is flying off the shelves lately, so I'd pay more for the medicine that for the herbs.

Naofumi: I see.

Luna: And how much would that be?

Herbalist: In total, it's be worth four silvers.

Naofumi: Say, do you have any tools you don't use anymore?

The Herbalist then gives Naofumi some tools that he could use. Luna and Naofumi then head outside to see Raphtalia looking at two kids playing with a ball.

Naofumi: Raphtalia. Do you want a ball like that?

Raphtalia: N-No I don't!! I'd never want a ball, not at all!!

Luna then smirks a points somewhere.

Luna: Raphtalia, you may say you don't want it, but your tail begs to differ.

Naofumi then sighs and proceeds to but a ball for her.

Naofumi: You can play with it after we're done with work.

Raphtalia: Of course! Thank you!

After a long day, the three then head to an inn.

Innkeeper: Coming! Uh, the Shield Hero and Staff Heroine...

Naofumi: We'd like to rent a room. One of my companions might scream at night, though.

The Innkeeper shows a bit of hesitation, but before Naofumi can do anything, Luna stops him.

Luna: Don't worry, he will let us stay here, right~?

The Innkeeper then looks at Luna who's got a very scary face on right now.

(A/n: This is the face that Luna's currently making)

Innkeeper: O-Of course young miss! I-I'll prepare a room at once!!!

As the innkeeper runs to get a room ready, Naofumi and Luna both think of something.

Naofumi: I have to find a way to survive before the next Wave of Catatrophe hits.

Y/n: I've got to work on mastering and creating more weapons. It's the only way I can win this whole war and survive till the end of the anime.

*Time-skip*

Luna's POV

It's been a few days since Naofumi bought Raphtalia, and I have to say, things are going pretty well. After a few more monster kills, I level up, making me Level 16.

Y/n: Making progress...

Naofumi: All right. We can go a little deeper into the forest now...

We then hear some rustling as we see a little bunny.

Naofumi: A rabbit?

The rabbit then hops towards me, so I quickly react.

Luna: WEAPON CREATE!!!! CROSS TAIL!!!

My staff then turns into Lubbock's Imperial arms and appears on my arms.

I then tie it up, but not killing it. I then look to Raphtalia, who must make the kill.

Luna: Raphtalia, kill it!

Raphtalia then staggers a bit, scared.

Luna: What are you waiting for?! I can't hold it forever!!!

Raphtalia: B-But... It'll bleed if I do...

Naofumi: Kill it already!

Raphtalia: I'm scared of blood!!

The crest then starts to hurt her. I know exactly what to say.

Luna: Raphtalia, listen. If you can't help us fight, then me and Naofumi have no need to look after you anymore. The Waves are coming soon, and it could end this world as we know it, with us too!! We need to get strong so we can protect this world. But Naofumi is only good at defense, and who knows when my magic power will run out. The two of us are strong, but we can't do it alone. We need someone else, someone who can wield a weapon with using magic power, to fight with us. If you don't want to do this, then we'll find someone else who can.

Raphtalia: You two are both going to fight the Waves?

Naofumi: That's our job, after all.

Raphtalia: Got it.

Raphtalia then grabs her sword, and as she rushes it, I jump out of the way, allowing her to effectively kill it.

Raphtalia: Then I too have no choice. Luna... Master.. I'll fight with you two. So please don't throw me away.

Luna: You got yourself a deal.

Naofumi: All right.

Y/n: I don't how those three idiots realized it. This world ain't some giant video game that you can just respawn in. If you want to live, you either kill or you get killed!!

*Time-skip*

We then head back to the weapons shop as Naofumi places down a bag of coins.

Naofumi: Sell us a new weapon for this amount.

Shopkeep: Time to get the little miss a sword, then.

The shopkeep then walks a bit and shows us a sword.

Shopkeep: One on th eshort side would be good to start off. How about this? It's a short sword made of iron.

Naofumi: Boss... Is there a town or village nearby that we can travel to with our equipment?

Shopkeep: Well, with your stuff, it'd have to be here.

He then shows us the village where the race takes place after the second wave.

Y/n: Lute Village...

*Time-skip*

We're now in the Village of Lute, and Naofumi is trying to sell some of the items he has.

Naofumi: How much?

Merchant: Around two silvers in all, I'd say.

Naofumi: Is that so?

Luna: Quick question. Do you know any locations nearby where we could earn a lot of money fast?

Merchant: Hmm... The ores from that coal pit over there should fetch a decent amount, but...

Naofumi: There's a catch?

Merchant: Ever since the first Wave, it's become a home to a bunch of dangerous monsters. Nobody dares approach it anymore.

Naofumi: I see.

Merchant: Sheesh! I don't know what our summoned "heroes" are even doing.

Luna: I'll tell you what three of them are doing. Being total idiots.

We then head to the cave, and while Naofumi looks in the hut, I start training and thinking of some more weapons. As I thought of some ideas for weapons, I hear Naofumi.

Naofumi: Come on, Luna. Let's go.

Luna: Right!

We then head inside as Naofumi begins to talk.

Naofumi: There are dangerous monsters here, apparently.

Luna: What's the plan if things get bad?

Naofumi: We run. You'd better keep up, Raphtalia.

Raphtalia: Okay! U... Um...

Naofumi: What is it?

Raphtalia: How should I address you and your little sister, Master?

Luna: You can call be by my actual name.

Raphtalia: But what about you, Master?

Naofumi: Call me whatever.

Raphtalia: Th-Then...

After a lot more walking, we arrive at our destination.

Naofumi: Is this the place?

Luna: Looks like it.

Me and Naofumi then start to mind up some gems.

Naofumi: These will fetch us a pretty penny.

Luna: Yeah they will!!!

Naofumi: Hey, Raphtalia, let's try over there next...

I then look behind and see Raphtalia frightened.

I then immediately turn to where Raphtalia's looking with a scared look in my eyes.

Y/n: Oh shit!! How the hell did I forget something that important?!?!

It's a two headed dog monster, which almost was like the one Raphtalia saw when her family died in the Waves.

Raphtalia: *screams in fear* NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!

The monster goes to attack us, but Naofumi gets out of the way just in time. It then goes for me, but I quickly jump back and use cross tail to get me to higher ground. The beast then starts to come closer to me, so I make a refrence.

Luna: It's over, you dog monster! I have the high ground!!!

The dog monster then roars at me, so I respond back.

Luna: Don't try it.

It then rushes at me, but Naofumi runs in and blocks it. It then bites into Naofumi, scaring Raphtalia. I go to use cross tail, but my magic power runs low and it desummons.

Luna: Dammit!! Raphtalia, you've got to kill it!!

Naofumi: Listen to Luna! Grab your sword and kill this thing!!

Raphtalia: No...

Naofumi: If we die, then so will you!!

Raphtalia: Please no!

Naofumi: Then hurry up and kill it!!! This is an order!!!

I then see the look in Raphtalia's eyes. I know what I have to do.

Luna: Naofumi, I don't think she can do it.

Naofumi then looks back and looks at Raphtalia.

Naofumi: Raphtalia, forget it. If you can't fight then get the hell out of here!

Raphtalia: But what about you two?

Luna: We'll buy you time for you to escape.

Raphtalia: Then you'd be just like my parents...

Luna: Fight or Flee, Raphtalia!!!

Raphtalia: No... no! Don't go!! Don't leave me!!!

I then see Raphtalia running with full force towards the dog monster.

Raphtalia: DON'T DIE!!!!

She then stabs the dog monster right in one of it's two heads, before it can attack Raphtalia, Naofumi attacks.

Naofumi: AIR STRIKE SHIELD!!!!

A Shield then materalizes from thin air.

Luna and Naofumi: Raphtalia!!!!!!!

Raphtalia then stabs it in the gut, killing it.

Naofumi: Well done.

Raphtalia then begins to cry and runs toward us.

Raphtalia: Luna! Master Naofumi!!!

She then hugs us, hurting Naofumi a bit.

Naofumi: Hey, even with the shield's power, the wound still hurts!!!

Raphtalia: Don't ever die you two! Please don't leave me alone!!! Luna! Master Naofumi!!!

Y/n: So she's using the dub version of how she calls Naofumi huh?

I then pat her on the head.

Luna: Don't worry. You attack, Naofumi defends, and I'm the support. That way, the three of us will never die.

Raphtalia: Right.

Naofumi: We're leaving once I feed this monster to my shield.

Raphtalia: Okay, Master Naofumi.

Luna: So, um... do you mind getting of me and my big brother already?

Raphtalia: Just a bit longer...

Naofumi: *sigh*

*Time-skip*

No one's POV

We then see the three eating.

Naofumi: The ore made us a lot of money, so you can eat all you want.

Raphtalia: Thank you!

Raphtalia then starts to eat from her plate.

Naofumi: Is it good?

Raphtalia: Yeah!

Naofumi: I see.

As Naofumi takes a bite from his, Raphtalia speaks up.

Raphtalia: Master Naofumi. Luna. Let's survive, no matter what!!

Naofumi: Of course.

Luna: You got it!

Naofumi then grabs the tiny white flag from Raphtalia's lunch.

Naofumi: Here. A kids' lunch... isn't complete with out this.

He then dips his pinkie finger in the sauce and places it right on the center. As Raphtalia's confused, Luna knows what it is.

Luna: Raphtalia, that's the flag from our world. And he's right. Whenever me and Onii-chan went out to eat, I'd always see the flag on it.

Raphtalia: Oh, I see!

As the three continue to eat, Luna starts thinking to herself.

Y/n: Episode 2 of the anime is done! If I remember correctly, the Wave should be approaching soon, since it would be Episode 3. I better get myself 100% ready for it.
