Present Day

A flock of birds soar across the sky! Traversing through the fluffy cloud with elegance, only limited by the space that is the vast sky.

With the gentle breeze propelling their wings. They float above a beautiful lake surrounded by a sea of tall trees. Each competing with one another to reach the sky, even the smallest ones reach around 500ft (152.4m). However, from where the birds view the world, they appear as mere saplings.

As they travel across the open horizon, they approach a remote city bustling with insect-like folk called "Insectan".

It naturally blends in with the nearby environment, a perfect balance between mother nature and a dazzling city. They make full use of the humongous trees by placing wooden houses along with other buildings on different levels of the trees, all connected via bridges that dangle off of the air. The ground level is also equally as amazing as it stores one of the most intricate yet beautiful buildings ever to have laid on by the eyes of mankind. Completely made of the natural resources collected from the nearby environment, and yet to say it appears futuristic would be an understatement, it's straight up from out of a fairy tale. The type that would make any architect shed a tear upon witnessing it. And to top it all off, everything was built to highlight or enhance its main attraction, the crystal-clear lake that travels through the city.

Besides the folk that live down there, only birds are able to enter and admire its beautiful architecture as the surrounding trees serve to hide the hidden city along with protection as they also serve as a natural barrier to any outside forces.

The bird's wings slice through the air as they close the distance.

But with a shift of the wind, they quickly scurry apart in a state of fright.

A giant shadow looms over the trees . . . quickly approaching the city...

A roar shakes the sky! Transforming the calmness of the sky, into an eerie atmosphere...

Everyone stops dead in their tracks as their ears raise on high alert.

One of the patrolling soldiers overlooks the city, scouting for the origins of the roar.

The current of the wind unnaturally changes, swaying their nation's flag in the opposite direction. The bridges start to rattle violently, becoming too dangerous to traverse. The calm water begins to form waves, crashing along shores.

A dark omen falls upon the city.

Sweat starts to drip off the soldier's face. With his shivering hand clutching his sword, his eyes rise to the vast blue sky.

Nothing, the tranquility of the sky remains the exact same as he recalls it to be. Nothing but an endless blue with a couple of clouds here and there.

A sigh of relief escapes his lips, but regardless he continues his search and scouts even closer to every detail.

There, he notices a small dot inside one of the clouds. It's hard to tell, but he squints his eyes as the dot gets closer.

His eyes shrink as he flinches! His nerves return, but this time even worse. He rushes over to the bridge and screams.

"DRAGON!!!"

The color off of his commanding officer's face vanishes as he rushes to ring a bell! Alerting the whole city of an impending threat!!

All the citizens scramble with utter terror as all the soldiers arm themselves with projectile weapons!

The dragon descends from the clouds! Rapidly closing the gap between them!

They load up the cannons and arm the stationary crossbows!

A massive wave of gust blows over the city! Pulling and snapping some of the trees in half and creating a giant tsunami that causes mayhem in the city!

Another roar follows suit! Trembling the Earth as all the people cover their ears!

"Fire!!" Yells a commanding officer!!

They unleash all of their cannon fire and spear-size arrows towards the beast as it looms over the city!

Huge explosions cover the sky as the shriek of the beast echoes through the forest!

Every citizen cowards in their homes as they block their ears from the endless cannon fire! A crying mother hugs her children tightly and covers their eyes from the impending war happening outside!

"Keep shooting!! Keep shooting!!"

The occurring fire illuminates the forest in a burst of flashes! These soldiers continue to bravely fight hard despite the reigning terror from above!

With a mighty roar, it plummets the sky and crashes onto the nearby buildings! Snapping all the bridges in half by its large wingspan!

The blast blows every soldier off balance! Causing the fire to finally seize.

As the silence settles in, civilians peak through the edges of their windows.

There it is, the mythical creature that rules the skies.

Its size is nearly comparable to the buildings surrounding it. Standing at a monstrous 150ft tall (45m), this dragon in specific has red scales and four limbs. Though its arms are connected to its wings from the wrist up.

Blood red spikes run along from its neck down to the tips of its tail. With two black horns that curve in the end protruding from the back of its skull.

Puffs of smoke leak from its nostrils as the beast ascends through the rubble. An unnerving sound arises from the monster as it spreads its wings and eclipses the city!

Standing tall, it releases an ear-busting roar! Shattering windows and almost causing everyone's hearts to nearly stop!

The dragon begins to glow orange from the cracks of its scales before slamming its arms downwards!! Smashing the ground to bits and causing a powerful earthquake!

The shake causes many trees to tumble over, leaving many houses plumbing to their deaths. Several of the buildings down below also crumble into piles of debris.

Tears begin to form along the Earth!

And as if the planet was bleeding. Magma starts to erupt from the depths!!

Huge waves of lava begin to flow through the streets. Vaporizing everything it touches as countless screams rupture into the air!

The dying cries of his people enrage the commander as he gestures to the remaining soldiers.

"Catapults! Now!"

His shouts resonate in their ears as they scramble like headless chickens! They reload every weapon and bring out the catapults!

"I need all of our strongest mages to conjure their best attack! Send in the Vespa squadron to buy time!"

By his order, all of the mages round up and unanimously proceed to cast the same spell! The leaves begin to sway harshly as a battalion of horse-size hornets infiltrates the battlefield with mounted riders!

The armata catches the attention of the dragon, stopping the chaos from ensuing as it focuses on the horde. With a scowl on its face, the scales begin to glow once more! Opening its mouth as the esophagus turns bright orange!

"Now! The chain shot!!"

As all hell is about to break loose, the commander screams an order! Blasting two cannonballs attached with a chain towards the beast's mouth!!

With a loud bang, the chain intertwines around its snout, successfully shutting the monster's mouth tight!

As it thrashes to break loose! The flock of hornets gang up and pierce through the dragon's tough scales! Causing it to jerk as it wreaks havoc upon the buildings to crush the bugs!

The mages fight back their urges to protect their families as their voices of despair and misery consume their ears! The sky manifests into a storm as they continue to pour their hearts and souls into the spell with tears in their eyes.

"Send in the Goliath beetles! Prepare to drop the net!"

Upon the commander's orders, gigantic rhino beetles ascend to the sky while carrying an enormous steel net, coated with razor-sharp spikes, before dropping it Into the dragon!

The Earth shatters! Burying the monster within the floor as screeches escape from its jaws.

"Now! Let it have it!! Unleash everything you have!! Show it your rage!!"

The commander's words echo across the forest as the soldiers unleash their full fury onto the monster!!

Brilliant spectacles ignite the city like fireworks in a festival! Drowning the agonizing roars of the dragon as they bombarded it with cannons, ballistas, and catapults!!

Lightning starts to ooze out from the dark storm up above! Signaling the spell's completion.

The commander takes their chances of victory by gesturing towards the dragon with an unyielding flare in his eyes!

"Now!!"

The mages don't even let the commander finish his order as they furiously cast their spell in unison!

"Omega Thunder!"

As if summoning God's wrath, a bolt of mystical lightning strikes the Earth with a tremor! The highest form amongst all lightning spells, it crashes down! Sending the dragon straight to hell!

The dragon screams in pain as the lightning zaps the life out of it! Curling its pupils to the back of its sockets before it tumbles down.

Upon its dying gasp, the soldiers cheer in victory! Spilling an ocean of tears as they hug one another like if morrow did not exist.

They've done the impossible, they've put an end to the fury that killed millions of their brothers and sisters.

Regaining back the motivation the dragon stole from them, they start to hurriedly aid the surviving citizens.

The fire proceeds to vanish as rain begins to sprinkle from the lingering thunderstorms.

Tiny rings of water form along the lake as the drizzle gets heavier, clashing with the boats that splash into the water.

They hoist the children first, filling the boats with their youths before sending them off down the lake.

Brave soldiers rush into the dangerous husk of a city to search for anyone trapped under the debris. Tending to the wounded and guiding them to the evacuation site.

Many families are left mourning for the ones that lost their lives during this attack and are left torn up to leave their homes behind. But they understandably agree to evacuate as the place they once called home no longer exists...

As the evacuation is under-going, the commander oversees from afar. In complete silence with water droplets dripping off his cap, watching the city he grew up in burn to ash, and disappearing into the depths of the lake.

Once the last person steps onto the boats, the commander moves away from the edge, and bids farewell. The clattering of his boots slowly fades away, until it ceases entirely.

He remains motionless, fixated on the flag that's gradually changing directions. His hat gets blown off as the heavy wind builds up.

He reluctantly turns with a hefty sweat and gazes into no man's land.

The constant clashing of both cold and heat engulfs the city in a massive tornado. Causing havoc upon the wreckage as mother nature takes back what's owed.

But then, in complete violation of the laws of physics. The tornado blinds anyone who lays eyes upon it as it ignites into a giant vortex of flames!

The commander bears witness with his scream caught in his throat. Struggling to utter a single word as his pupils stay fixated upon what lies before him.

Two eyes. Two dreadful eyes stare right back at his petrified soul.

Even mother nature stands no chance against it as the massive tornado bends to its will.

The dragon roars in fury!! Seamlessly appearing more angrier than injured.

The cry sends fear into every soldier's mind. Tugging at that string of hopelessness inside their heart.

They knew death was inevitable, and yet they desperately tried so hard to prevent it.

"Goddammit... At least give us a chance at victory..."

Fighting a dragon is like facing off against a natural disaster. There's no defeating it, you can only run away. In fact, you would be better off committing suicide, that way you can die peacefully...

With every option already exhausted and with their morales destroyed. The dragon opens its jaws.

In a fit of rage, the dragon's throat bursts into a blaze! Consuming everything it touches in flames! The city, the soldiers, the boats, it destroys everything!!

The once beautiful city has been reduced to nothing but ash. All of its residents disappear within seconds as their screams are forcefully silenced.

With no survivors in its wake. The dragon soars into the air! Heading back to the Kingdom of Humanity.
