Chapter 24: The Monster within Me...

The repulsive one falls to his knees, lamenting. This was a part of his punishment, bearing the brunt of his friend's deaths. Upon the King's orders, the demon is assigned to the Eternal Death Maiden. The masses howl in victory as they mock the criminal getting apprehended by a squadron of knights.

"I'LL MURDER YOU BLAKE!!" The foul demon shrieks as he resists arrest!

His true inner demons emerge from his broken body! Briefly leaving everyone with silent screams as he thrashes his head over to the one who condemned him.

"I'LL FUCKING MURDER YOU!! YOU'RE A DEAD SON OF A BITCH!!!"

His glaring eyes meet with his, even if it was only for a second, an everlasting battle ignites within them! A declaration of war unknown to the world that will last till the end of time.

As the colossal doors descend upon Axel. He catches a glimpse of a daunting smile, permanently becoming etched into his eye sockets.

The storm waves over as the gates fully contain the raging monster inside, where the light can no longer reach his presence.

With the breeze snapping them from their trances, they erupt in cheers! Celebrating as if they won a war.

The King especially gets applauded for his actions. Rising and answering the call of his people. Unmoved by what has just unfolded.

A flurry of emotions swirls within the masses, ranging from praising his majesty, hatred to the betrayers, and pleading salvation towards their great leader. The one thing that connects them is their sole devotion to the King.

Half an hour later.

A door slams wide open! Echoing through the very edges of the room as Blake rushes to a corner. Heavy sweat along with exhaustion piles on his face.

He suppresses his urge to vomit, but to no avail. He gushes his guts out, spewing everything that's inside of him. His guilt, his anger, his disgust, and also his joy. He's left a new man, completely alienated from his past self. The him of today is no longer recognizable to his yesterday self.

He breathes in all kinds of variations, but can't get enough into his lungs. His ears become submerged underwater, unable to take refuge inside the calmness of the silence.

His emotions take over him, nearly bursting out of his body, and yet he can't get rid of this sense of emptiness inside of him.

It's no use, everywhere he gazes, every place he turns, he can only recall him. Staring right back at him, with those eyes, those sinister and demonic eyes

That event replays again and again inside of his mind. Sometimes with addictive rapture, other times with utter terror.

He's in complete conflict with himself. Staring at his hands that are now dirtied with the blood of another person; while also congratulating himself for killing off that wretched scum of a man.

He is now a murderer, responsible for three lives. But he's also taking his first step into becoming Humanity's savior. In order to achieve great success, you also need to make a great sacrifice, there's just no other way around it.

He was a demon after all, regardless of his own feelings and biases. He needed to do it, for Humanity and Vanessa's sake. The news might devastate her, but she will soon come to understand that he's doing it out of care and love.

He couldn't stand seeing her with him any longer, taking her by the hand, and polluting her innocent soul. Corrupting the goddess who's destined for greatness.

The pitch in his ears finally starts to subside. Bringing him back to his room as he takes a glance behind him. He's all alone, accompanied only by the darkness that surrounds him.

Good. He wanted no one to witness this side of him, his imperfections. Even he couldn't bear it.

What he did back there, wasn't like him. He still can't take his mind off of that event, now permanently ingrained into the back of his mind.

Was it the devil touching his shoulder back there? Whispering to him and possessing his body? How could he go through such a traumatic experience without being fazed at all? Actually, no, it wasn't like that, he was enjoying it.

Like a kid tasting candy for the first time, or a teen experiencing his first high, it was a fog of pleasure. An uncontrollable euphoria that shackled his empathy and embraced his inner demons.

A wave of anger floods his heart as his hands curl into fists.

He's utterly repulsed with himself.

How can he be capable of this? How can he achieve his dream when he has this hindrance blocking his way.

He's never experienced this before.

O' so he tells himself. But the truth is, he's experienced this many times before, just not to this magnitude.

He's no stranger to it, and he hates that fact.

This . . . side of him, the inhuman monster that lurks within his soul. He absolutely refuses to acknowledge it.

That's not him. . . That's not him. . . But HE turned him into him.

A raging fire boils inside of his heart, just the thought of it makes his hands coil with hatred. Veins burst from out of his hands as he digs his nails into the wall, creating an intolerable pitch that nearly pops his ears.

How could he do this to him? How could he do this to him? How could he do this to him? How could he do this to him?

Groans that don't sound human flee into the darkness. Blood smears along the wall as he violently scrapes off the skin of his fingers. His eyes stay fixated, staring directly into something but nothing at the same time.

Cries of utter terror swirl within the cubicle, eating away at his worries and fears. His shoulders decline ever so steeper, unnaturally curving his spine. . . And moments later, his body begins to tremble.

But not of his own accord . . .

The birds nesting on the window tail it to the nearby tree. The wind sways in the opposite direction. Terrified to graze the dreadful light.

. . . Inside this castle . . . where hundreds of people reside . . . lurks a monster amongst them.

A beast just waiting for the perfect moment. Ready to lash out at any second, at anyone. . .

He turned him into this. He turned him into this! He turned him into this. He turned him into this! HE TURNED HIM INTO THIIIIIS!

His body grows mad. Searching for the source that gave birth to that monster within him.

Axel. . .

His muscles instantly tense up, nearly cramping by the pressure.

It's that bastard's doing! He's the one who tainted him with this malice!

One of the veins inside his right eye ruptures! Consuming half of his vision in red.

With a streak of blood pouring down his eye, he hides it with his hand. He snaps out of his trance. Catching himself breathing heavily and only now does he notice the pain on the tips of his fingers.

His eyes shrink to the back of his sockets, bearing witness to his creation.

The odor of blood and vomit invades his nostrils as he turns away from the sight before him. Only to be met by a mirror, his reflection.

His hand instantly drops. And he's forced to meet with himself, his true self. . .

So this is the damage he's caused. There's no mistaking it, it only started when he first met him. Bringing doom to anyone who associates with him. A literal virus that manifested in human skin. And he had the audacity to pollute Vanessa!

A burst of anger possesses his hand as he punches the mirror!

He shall never let that come to pass. He will make sure no one else falls victim to his influences. And to anyone who supports him, he shall personally slaughter them without remorse.

A sudden flash reminds him of Axel's fate.

But with him taken care of, he can finally be the Messiah he was destined to be. Becoming the pillar of Hope for Humanity and eradicating the demons. He doesn't ever want to stoop this low, never again.

A wave of discomfort colors his face.

This was totally not like him. 18 years of his life and not once has he remotely acted like this. The man dawning a smile upon witnessing the execution of three people is not the same person staring into the mirror. And hopefully, that will be the last of it.

He nods to himself before checking the injury in his eye. Falling short of breath, and utterly flabbergasted.

The smile he was wearing, had never left his side. . .
