Seriously?
AN- Hi Y'all here's a Thanksgiving special chapter for you guys and this will be the chapter before the epilogue, I hope you enjoy.
Jesse's POV
"Guys watch out!" J pointed to Cassie as she raised her axe from behind Lukas, Petra, Xara, and Addie, but Addie made an X with her arms and broke her hands away to face her palms inches away from Cassie's forehead.
Instantly, Cassie dropped her weapon and crumpled to the ground, unconscious, as Winslow came up to his master and started meowing and rubbing his head against her in concern.
"What did you do?" I asked cautiously as J and I climbed out of the crater.
"Don't worry, I just knocked her out so that we can figure out what the heck happened to her to make her think you abandoned her. If it is the work of Herobrine, like you suspected, then we can figure out how to undo it from here." Addie walked over to the console and typed in a few strings of commands to wake Romeo, Lluna, Benedict, and Reuben from their unconscious states, gave the animals their ability to switch between forms, and to fully return the twins' powers to them.
"What happened?" Romeo put a hand to his forehead as Lukas helped him to his feet and Petra and Xara helped the kids gain their balance on their legs again after Addie had dropped the shield she put over them.
"Cassie captured you to gain access to the source code, but it's alright, it's over now." Lukas responded.
"Jesse!" Reuben squeaked with joy as he ran over to me and hugged me tightly.
"Now I know how it felt to be apart of that scary computer..." Reuben whimpered a bit and I tightened my hold on him as if afraid that he would disappear from my hold if I loosened even the slightest.
"Well now that Cassie has been powered down, both the Wither Hoverer and PAMA's powers are now completely out of her system and, therefore, gone altogether. Then again, I don't want to potentially jinx it." Addie sheepishly grinned at the last part of her sentence and Petra punched her hard in the shoulder.
"Ow!"
"That's for making us think you were dead." Petra frowned angrily.
"How many times do I have to say I'm really sorry about that." Addie whined as she rubbed her shoulder.
"How many years were you on that island again?" J asked with a smirk.
"273..."
"Yeah, that should be good." I nudged him in the ribs with my elbow before saying,
"We're just glad that you're back and that everybody's alright now."
"Aside from Cassie." Petra pointed out as she nudged Cassie's limp arm with her foot.
"And there's something weird here." Addie announced from her place at the console.
"What is it?" I asked as we all gathered around her.
"It says here that a command that had Cassie's memories altered was activated almost a year ago, around the same time that you two defeated and banished Herobrine."
"So he did do this to her." J thumped a fist to the console.
"Wait, does that mean he's still alive?" Petra questioned skeptically.
"No, when you guys defeated him, it initiated a last resort that caused Cassie's memories to alter."
"So, basically, it was a Plan B for if Herobrine couldn't finish us off himself?" Lukas asked, still confused.
"Yep." Addie responded.
"Locked in a relic, banished from our world, and our uncle still had ways to try and take us down." I moaned while rubbing my forehead.
"Seriously, doesn't he know when to give up?" Lukas asked while patting my shoulder in reassurance.
"I don't think 'give up' was even in his vocabulary." J mused to himself as Addie typed in an override code to undo the memory alterations for Cassie.
"And that should do it, you can wake her up now." We all looked at each other uncertainly.
"Well, who's going to be the one to wake her up?" Xara questioned.
"Fine, I'll do it." I announced as I kneeled down next to Cassie and started to shake her awake. When she opened her eyes and saw all of us around her, she panicked and tried to move away from us.
"Where am I, what is this?!"
"Cassie, calm down. What's the very last thing you remember?" I asked her and she closed her eyes while pressing her hands over them.
"Last thing I remember was fixing up my house in my homeworld, since I'd been away for a while, and then I heard a really creepy laugh, then, nothing...until now." Cassie responded as she stood up and Winslow went over to her and meowed for her to pick him up.
"Look, I don't know how to break this to you, but-" I started gently before Xara interrupted with,
"You've been under the influence of Herobrine for the past year."
"What! Can you at least get me home now?" Cassie questioned as she clutched Winslow tighter.
"Fortunately, yes if I just use this code... and there!" Addie responded as she summoned a portal that was edged with iron with a light blue center and Cassie ran through it without another word.
"She didn't even say 'thank you', typical." Petra groaned as the portal disappeared.
"I'll say..." Addie mumbled as she started typing in her name into the console.
"Why are you looking yourself up?" Xara asked suspiciously.
"Using the source code's files, I might finally be able to find out who my parents were and what happened to them." Addie told us as some windows popped up on the screen.
"There!" I pointed to a window that had three names on it.
"It says my parents were Rodney and Angela Carter, but, a few days after my birthday, their codes just... disappeared."
"Does it say why?" I asked hopefully.
"It was because they..." Addie trailed off and we all oh'd softly as we realized what she meant.
"Wait, does this thing have pictures of them? I feel like I remember those names." Romeo asked and Addie pulled up two pictures. One was a man with brown hair, brown eyes, and tannish skin and the other was a woman with blond hair, green eyes, and light brown skin.
"I see you got your looks from your dad." Petra tried to joke, but it fell flatter than a lily pad.
"I remember them, they went into the Temple of Darkness and were never seen or heard from again." Romeo recalled.
"Weren't they looking into the curse of the Dark Master and ways to be freed from it?" Xara remembered as well.
"You mean, my parents left me behind so that they could figure out how to undo our family curse?" Addie asked.
"No, they were trying to undo your curse." I realized as I put the pieces together in my mind. "They somehow knew that you were going to be the one who would be banished and they tried to save you from that."
We all were silent as Addie fully processed what I'd said before she started rapidly typing in two more names into the console.
"What're you doing now, don't we have to go now?" Petra asked impatiently.
"I just need to know one more thing before I can leave this thing forever." Addie pulled up a window that showed a small house made from oak wood and mossy stone in the middle of a forest right by a rough looking stream that had a bare tree hanging over it. On the porch of the house, Addie was sitting there with two little kids; a boy and a girl.
"Who're they?" J questioned curiously.
"Andie and Felix, my adoptive brother and sister."
"When is this?" I asked, noticing that Addie didn't have the bracelet, or any scars, on her arm and no hair highlight.
"275 years ago, two years before I was banished to the island. The night my adoptive parents, Jerry and Emily, were killed." Addie responded as she pushed a button and the pictures started to play like a video, but with no sound.
Felix and Andie let up from the porch and were being chased around by Addie until she crashed into them and they tumbled to the ground laughing so hard they had to lie still on the ground to catch their breath.
Then, a man and a woman came outside from the house and called out to the three of them. Felix and Andie ran straight inside, but Addie told them something and she sat down on the porch and tore out a page from a book as they went inside. Addie had used the sheet of paper to draw branching vines when it was taken out of her hands by a breeze.
Chasing after the drawing, it led Addie to the river, where it got caught in the branches of the dead tree. Cautiously climbing up the tree, Addie had grabbed the drawing and was about to make her way down, when the branch she was on snapped and she fell headfirst into the raging river.
Shaking her head, Addie made the video fast forward to nighttime at the house when a cloaked figure appeared in the dark of the night and summoned a wither that looked like it was made of magma as several patches of its mottled skin glowed brightly.
"That figure, who is it?" Lukas pointed out the person who was pointing at the house while making a slicing motion with their other arm as the wither started to fire flaming skulls at the house and when Jerry and Emily came out and tried to fire the wither down with bows and arrows, but one quick shot ended their lives.
When the house had been mostly wrecked, the figure gave the wither a quick nod and it despawned as fast as when it had been summoned. From beneath the cloak, two bright lights shone as the figure teleported away.
"No way..."
"Was that...?"
"Herobrine." I confirmed.
"This was all part of his back up plan wasn't it? He'd spent years planning on what he would do, no matter what could or might happen, he would've been prepared." Addie growled as she flicked the video off when it started to show herself finding the wreckage of her former home.
"What matters now is that he's gone and we stopped his back up plan." I assured her as I turned her away from the console, "Let's just go now, yeah?"
Addie nodded and took a deep breath before walking past us to create a large portal from a safe distance.
"You ready guys?" I asked everyone and we all nodded in unison before running through the portal home.
