Chapter 3

Alexander sat next to John at lunch again. Why, he wasn't sure, but he didn't know what to think about this fact. He had a friend now, he guessed, so that was cool. He had absolutely no clue what to do with that. What did friends do, exactly? Hang out? Talk about life? Eh, whatever. Alex did most of the talking anyway. Then Alexander asked him something he never would have expected. Because no one ever asks him to do anything or go anywhere.

"Hey, do you wanna go to the park after school?"

"Um... what?" John gave him a confused look.

"Well, Usnavi, Pete, Sonny and I are all gonna go to the park after school, and I was just wondering if you wanted to join."

"Oh. Uh, give me a second." He pulled out his phone and texted his dad, asking if he could go to the park. It took a moment until he got a response. "Dad says I can, I just have to be home before dark."

"Awesome!" Alexander grinned ear to ear. He moved over to the other people and talked to them excitedly. John just smiled and watched his enthusiastic hand gestures before he went back to typing away on his computer. No, he wasn't doing research for school or anything. He was writing a Destiel and Sabriel fanfiction based off of the show Supernatural. Don't judge. They're his OTPs. He saved his work and closed the laptop as the bell rang, ending the lunch hour. Alexander followed him to his locker, chatting happily about who knows what? He was seriously almost rapping, he was talking so fast. It was fine though. It kept John from having to think of something to say.

"So what do you think, John?"

"Oh. What? Sorry, I zoned out." He gave an apologetic smile.

Alexander laughed. "If I was talking too fast, you should have just said so."

"Alexander, you were talking to fast."

"Wow, thanks for that." He smiled at John. "I'd have to repeat my whole story again for you to be able to properly respond."

"Oh, alright then." John grabbed his things for the next class. He closed and locked his locker before looking at Alex with a smile. "See you in seventh period, then?"

"Yep. See you then." Alexander grinned wider before they parted ways, heading to different classes.

(TIME SKIP BECAUSE NO ONE CARES ABOUT ANY CLASS THAT DOESN'T PROGRESS THE STORY)

Seventh period came and ended without much talking, much to Ms. Bradbury's dismay. It's almost like she wanted them to talk so they would bond more and get into a relationship or something.

When school let out, Alexander took John to meet up with the three other people that were going with them. Alex grinned and waved at them as they approached.

"Hey, you sure you wanna go to the park today, Alex? It looks like it's gonna rain," Sonny commented, looking up at the sky.

"Hell yeah!" Alex said excitedly. "If it rains, that's just a bonus."

"Alright then. For some reason, I was under the impression that you didn't like rain for a second." He shrugged, and the group of five started their walk to the park.

It didn't take long to get there, maybe about ten minutes, but when they did, literally all of them ran for the swings. Because swings. Sonny and Pete got into a contest to see who could swing higher, and Usnavi just smiled and watched them. Alex ended up getting as high as he could and jumping off, hitting the ground on his feet without so much as a stumble. He tried to convince John to do the same after Sonny and Pete followed suit, but John kept refusing, seeing it only as a way to get himself hurt. He always managed to be the unlucky one in a group.

About half an hour later, John felt a few drops of rain. Not even five minutes passed before it turned into a full on downpour. This resulted in them all frantically trying to get their things under the awning of the community building to keep them dry before playing around in the rain. Honestly, Alexander seemed to enjoy it the most, laughing and jumping around. Sonny, Pete, and Usnavi got into a game of tag, which resulted in a lot of slipping and hitting the ground. Alex somehow managed to convince John to get active as they joined the other three.

"Wait, who's it?"

"John is!"

"Nu uh! Alex just doesn't want to admit defeat."

"You didn't touch me!"

"I did so!"

"How about you're both it?"

"Shut it, Usnavi!"

"Hey, I'm just trying to help."

There was about five more minutes of yelling at each other before the game of tag was deemed a loss and they all started playing on the playground equipment instead. Which probably wasn't the best idea, considering that everything was wet and slippery.

"Ow! Fuck!"

"Watch your language!"

"Oh shut up! It hurt!"

"Next time, don't try and prove your parkour skills when you have none! Especially when everything's wet!"

Pete flipped Alexander off as he got to his feet.

"Who the hell is that over there?" John pointed to two boys, one in all black, black hair and everything, and one with blonde hair, wearing brighter colors than the other.

Alexander stopped what he was doing and looked over to where John had pointed. "Oh, that's Nico and Will. I'm pretty sure they're a thing, but no one really knows with them."

"Do they go to our school?"

"Yeah. I'm surprised you haven't seen them around."

"Eh. Oh, and John?"

"Yeah?"

Alex grinned mischievously and pushed John off of the jungle gym.

"Ow! Fuck you, Russo!"

"You wish, Morrison!"

"Language, you two!"

"Shut it, Usnavi!"

~~

"I'm finally tall for once!"

"Just because you're up high doesn't mean you're tall, Alexander."

"Shut it, Sonny. Let me have this moment."

"Is anyone else concerned about getting sick because of the rain?"

"Nope."

"Nah."

"Nein."

"Negatory."

"Well okay then. Forget I said anything."

It stopped raining at around six, and that's the time when they all actually started to wear themselves out. So they departed and went their separate ways to go home. John walked into his house, still dripping, and immediately just went to go change. These wet clothes were starting to make him cold. He peeled off his light blue shirt and let it fall to the wooden floor with a squelch.

Once in warmer clothing, he sat on his bed and continued to write his fanfiction that he had started earlier that day. Yes, the Supernatural one. He ended up writing about two chapters before actually getting started on his homework. But he did like three problems of his math homework before he ended up writing another chapter. He wasn't usually one for writing, he didn't really think he was that good at it, but every once in a while, he would get inspired and write something. Then forget about it for six months or more before picking it up again. But that's enough about John's writing habits.

As he was going through his nightly routine of getting ready for bed, he couldn't help but think back on the day. That was honestly the most fun he'd had in a while. He was really glad he had accepted the invitation to go. He was starting to warm up to these people more and more. Maybe life in a new town wouldn't be as bad as he had originally thought it would be.

~~

Yo! I actually wrote another chapter in a story, wow. It's short, but I kinda like it. And no one judge my SPN addiction making its way in. Also, SOLANGELO!!!!! Come on, I know some of you know what I'm talking about. Okay, so I'm gonna go before this author's note gets too long. Adios, Mishamigos!
