punk meant rebellion

once we were back from our walk and quick lunch stop we found Joe and Terry waiting for us. apparently it was time for the Clash (thats what the band is called) to do dress rehearsal, regardless of where the sex pistols might be. so we hopped on their van and took off to the black swan.

Joe opened the door of the car for us, how very sweet of him, I couldn't help smiling. I strategically waited for the other guys to get in, then the only seat left for Joe would be next to me. It worked, I was beaming with joy because at every turn he pushed against me or I against him, and then he would face me and smile because he thought it was funny. His smile melted me completely, it was radiant and galant and gorgeous as the rest of him.

once at the Black Swan the band checked the sound of the instruments and played a couple of their songs. I instantly loved it, it was rough and swift, the lyrics were truthful and the vocals perfect.
Joe's voice is one like I've never heard before. Both his speaking and singing voice are hoarse yet soothing and even sweet. When he screams the lyrics he disturbs not one creature because he does it in a delightful manner. It is like a peaceful protest, like sitting on the grass where your best friend was murdered.
Mick's voice on the other hand is soft and gentle, when they combine they create an eclipse. I could listen for one thousand years.

"so what do you think?" asked Mick once they finished rehearsing.
"you're all amazing, and your songs are so honest, I love it."
they all smiled at me in a thankful manner and then we walked over to the bar area of the venue. The Sex Pistols arrived, they looked somewhat intimidating but acted immaturely which was funny. I liked them, Johnny especially because he reminded me of myself. He wasn't afraid of telling things like they were and he couldn't care less about anyone's opinion. I, in different circumstances, act the same way. Different circumstances when the most attractive and talented guy I'd ever met was not present.
The Clash and I sat on a table and watched the Sex Pistols perform. I soon understood what the genre Punk meant. It was an attitude and a form of rebellion. It was Rock N Roll, only the songs spoke about more than just Love and Sex. They sang against conformity, oppression, and obedience. I felt like this is what I had been missing all my life, Punk Rock. because I was never a person who walked with the crowd and I always questioned things before doing them, I never allowed anyone to tell me what to do or where to go. that's why I find myself across the world, far from home, far from the constraints of my parents.
