I feel as if I'm in a movie, walking into a real recording studio with a real band that's gonna be really famous! hah! Just Imagine! In the near future there'll be crowds over crowds of people screaming the songs they're recording here today, and I'm part of it! Me, 20-year-old-dreamy-me! ahh the excitement.

Joe and I walk into the room where we find Mick, Paul and Topper (the new drummer) warming up. We greet each other.
"I've got the song!" says Joe
"What song?" asks Paul
"the song that'll go first on the album"
"Which is?"
"Janie Jones, I wrote it today" he lays the lyrics for them to see, Mick and Paul tilt their heads in unison to read them.
"I like 'em" says Mick, "have you got the rhythm done?"
"yea I have something in mind" says Joe as he hangs the guitar from his shoulder.

He hit the guitar strings firmly and sang the chorus with his raspy singing voice.
Then, without hesitation, Topper started paying a beat that fit right in. Mick began following the chord progression with his guitar and joined in on the chorus. Then there was Paul, just hitting the bass strings trying to come up with something, eventually he did and just like that, as if there was an easy formula to it, the song was completed.

I was amazed by the working musical chemistry there was between Joe and Mick, and how adorably Paul played the bass and the faces he made trying to concentrate. Also by what a great drummer Topper was, he was slim but he hit the drums very firmly and with a great beat that couldn't be broken if one tried. They're all magnificent, I felt honored in the presence of these amazing musicians.

"1, 2, 3, 4!" yells Paul
They play the entire song, Joe winks and points at me while singing and screaming "You Lucky Lady!" I blush, naturally.

As they finish singing the last words of the song I get up and hug Joe, thrilled, and congratulate him on writing such a great song, then I do the same with Mick, Paul and even Topper who I just met, but he gives me a bright and beautiful smile of approval. Then I turn around to find what I'm guessing is the recording manager congratulating the other three.

He gives me a nasty look, the hell?
"Who's she?" he asks.
"that's my girlfriend" says Joe. I melt inside, how beautiful that sounds, his girlfriend! Joe's girlfriend.
"You know you can't bring people in here, there's no money or time to waste on distractions, without exception, miss you'll have to leave."
"She's not a distraction you fool, she's an inspiration, I wrote this song thanks to her!"
I see anger in Joe's eyes and as much as I love how he stands up for me I don't want to cause trouble so I offer to leave.
"No, if you leave I'll leave" he says.
"Yeah man, Candy's like, part of the band now" says Paul to the dude in a suit.
I feel extremely flattered, happy and embarrassed all at the same time as I stand there not knowing what to do.
"I uh, I won't talk to them, I'll just sit here I promise." I say awkwardly, sigh I've always been awkward with older people.
Joe still looks mad but the guy finally takes off his stink face and goes to the other room.
"Thanks guys, that was so sweet but I didn't wanna get you in trouble, I swear I wouldn't mind leaving."
"No, he can't talk like that about my angel, who does he think he is?!"
"Yeah, we gotta stand up for each other, don't worry about it." assures Paul.

I smile at them and sit back to enjoy the rest of their recording time. I love observing Joe while he sings, he looks so angelic and perfect, and every other beautiful characteristic combined.
