Utopia (prompt 7)
A/N: the prompt for this one was the song Imagine, from John Lennon.
So a few days ago my husband and I were having a conversation about what cones after death, and he was of the opinion that it would be better if there is just nothing. We die and that's it. Well, this song makes me think of that. And I am sure that would make a lot of people feel better to know that there is no ultimate judgment, but I am of a different opinion, which I hope becomes clear through my work. Well here it is:
Do you believe in Heaven?
Do you believe in Hell?
Wouldn't the world be better
Without them here? Pray tell
Imagine after death
Nothing but the dark
An endless peaceful sleep
No more aching heart
No reason for division
No reason to wage wars
No land to kill or die for
No grudges left to bore
If everyone was equal
Hypocrisy be damned
No judgment or damnation
Now wouldn't that be grand?
Imagine this Utopia
Where everyone is free
So if I had to ask you
What would your answer be?
Well, it's all good in theory
This world, that I could see
But in this great Utopia
Would Free Will still be free?
The problem with decisions
Without a consequence, you see
The poor and bad decisions
Will be the ones that lead
So take away your countries
Their laws and all they do
And take away religion
And moral values too
Create your free society
Would they unite as one?
Human nature might be good
But being Bad is just so much Fun!
Imagine this great world, you may
And dream your dream in vain
For if you can't accept the truth
Then dream, it must remain...
