Trigger warning: Child-abuse
Feet pounded on the tile and her breath shook as her heart raced in her ears, and when a tight hand wrapped around her upper arm the little girl couldn't help but scream, crying and begging to be let go, she didn't want this, "Daddy stop! Daddy don't do this please!" she screamed repeatedly, repeating quietly sobs of 'no' over and over again. And she couldn't remember hearing the footsteps, but she could see the light from upstairs dim slowly, behind her father a smaller boy followed, and the girl casted a glance over her shoulder, tears smearing on the sleeves of her dress, "Seokie-oppa..." she hiccupped, "pl-please hel-help me!" she cried, but the boy dipped his head down and the older man squeezed her arm.
"Don't look at him, Anya, now's not the time to be weak," her father spoke as the floor became solid and cold underneath her socks and creaking came from behind her, snapping her head in front of her, Anya's eyes widened as she started pushing against her father, refusing to go in.
"Daddy don't please," she cried, her arms stretching out in front of her as her fathers strength started winning over hers and she was shoved forward, and eventually shoved inside, hitting the concrete flooring with a solid smack on her knees. Realizing what was happening, Anya shot up, ignoring the pain in her legs which felt like jello, as she rushed to the exit of the cage, but the metal bars slammed shut right in front of her face, causing her to fall flat on her rump.
Her eyes began to well up with tears as she looked toward the older men in front of her, "don't do this, please! Please don't do this, Seokie-oppa, daddy please!" she screamed, Hoseok looked up from the ground for the first time in the entire evening.
Hoseok tilted his head, sucking his cheek out of nervousness, "I'm sorry" he whispered.
"Anya, knock it off right fucking now," her father snapped as he slammed his palm against the bars causing them to rattle underneath his touch, Anya immediately closed her mouth and sucked up her tears while her father spoke to her, "I'm sorry honey," he said as he knelt down in front of the cage, "this is just the start to a stronger world for you," he frowned as he rose to his feet and turned towards the door, grabbing Hoseok by his shoulders as he was lead out of the basement and back upstairs, the door shutting and darkness consumed Anya.
Letting out a scream, Anya slammed herself into the bars, ignoring the pain the metal caused, as the vibrations rattled throughout her entire body by impact. 'This can't be happening!' she thought to herself. She rammed herself into the bars one more time, praying she could break something loose, but yet another vibration ran through her body, and she fell with a thud, back on her butt, as he let out yet another scream that bounced and echoed off the basement walls. She was trapped, stuck, for how long?
Above her, Hoseok sat on the ground, unable to do anything as Do-Jung stared daggers at him, chewing his ear off with anger and venting. Hoseok had to endure things he didn't even let Anya see. She never saw it. And he needed to keep it that way, for her safety.

Screaming, Jae's body jolting upward in the sheets as she grabbed onto her chest, clutching onto the sweat covered shirt that covered her torso, her eyes wide as her breathing was uncontrollable, she shot quick glances around the room, taking in everything in her surroundings, as her heart raced and her hands shook, and her head pounded, the bedroom door slammed open, and Yoongi stood at the entryway, messy hair and a stern look yet ready for the kill type of look across his eyes.
For a brief moment, Jae looked toward Yoongi with a face of recognition, "Yoongi-oppa," she whispered faintly before she shook her head and looked back at him with a much more cold expression as she brought her hand to her head at the throbbing pain, she was drinking last night, a lot, for the first time in awhile. The sound of footsteps thundered throughout the upstairs, and the boys all huddled around the entryway looking at Hyun-Jae, Namjoon, Hoseok, and Jungkook all had a gun in their hand.
"Everybody okay?" Jin asked.
"Just a dream," Jae responded with a curt nod as she pulled her hand from her chest, Yoongi noticing how her hand still shook and straightened up, opening his mouth partly but no words could muster from his throat.
"Are you sure? Because dreams don't involve screaming like you're about to get murdered," Namjoon implied and Jae shot him a glare.
"It was a nightmare then, leave it, and myself alone, I want to shower," Jae huffed out as she waved a hand in front of her to tell them to get out.
After a moment of concern, the door shut and footsteps departed from the doorway, Jae let out a shaky breath as she stared straight ahead and out of the window, "why do you always have to haunt my sleep?" Jae asked out loud as she brought a hand to her forehead and closed her eyes, every month it's the same nightmare.
A knock pulled her from her dazed state as she looked toward the door, "come in," she said softly and the door creaked open, as Jin stood with advil in one hand and a glass of water in another.
"For your hangover," Jin said softly as Jae stood up and approached him, Jin getting a clear look at her bare legs, small scars littered her body all over and Jin hated it, nobody should have to have so many scars, and it looked like Jae had walked through a war.
"Seokjin," Jae snapped him from his thoughts as she held out a hand, and looked at him, "thank you," she said softly as she took the glass from his hands and tipped it toward him with a gratitude dip, and then the pills.
"Oh, yeah, you're welcome," Jin nodded his head as he turned tail and began walking out of the room, "there's going to be breakfast here soon, I just wanted to get you your meds first,"he said calmly before shutting the door.
Jae looked down at the pills and smiled faintly, she wasn't going to admit it, but being taken care of, even if it was the first night with a bunch of strangers, it felt nice, she normally didn't even allow Hoon to notice these types of things, and she never slept around the times that he did. Tipping her head back, Jae popped the pills and drank the water before she went to take her shower, washing away the cold night sweats that beaded her forehead and back of her neck. Once dressed, Jae headed toward the kitchen, the smell of Bulgogi filled the room and wafted toward her as her stomach growled happily, once she stepped in, she noticed all of the boys sitting on every surface possible in the kitchen, for once, Jimin's face wasn't shoved into a tablet, Taehyung looked to be counting a bunch of numbers on his phone, Jungkook was tucked in the corner reading something with a wide grin on his face, Jae blinked and narrowed her eyes slightly disgusted, while Yoongi stood between Hoseok's legs slightly, having a conversation with him and Jae's head tilted to the side, 'spicy' she thought before snapping out of her gaze when, she assumed the leader of the group, cleared his throat, "yes?"
"How you feeling?"
"From which part? Drinking or the nightmare"
"I mean... drinking? Do you remember anything from last night? That's what I'm getting at."
"Then your answer is yes, I do remember, Namjoon," Jae folded her arms and she felt all eyes on her, "what? I'm just proving a point," Jae rolls her eyes and looks at everybody before inhaling and puffing out hot air before she walks toward the patio then outside.
Hearing the sliding glass doors shut again, Jae leans up against the railing and looks out into the oddly placed garden in the backyard, unkept, but still pretty nonetheless, "What did you dream about?" Yoongi asked as he stopped beside her and held his hands out in front of him and elbows on the railing as he looked to his left and at Jae with curiosity.
"Being chased by zombies, their my biggest fear y'kn-"
"Not that bullshit, the truth, zombies aren't real, nothing but your first kill would make you scream bloody murder and make your hands shake," Yoongi cocked a brow and looked at her again this time with a more stern and serious look, Jae could feel everything radiating off of him without even needing to look. The silence was so thick it almost hurt that she was even standing beside him, but alas she drew a breath before clearing her throat, trying her best to make this the simplest answer as she switched her feet below her, putting more weight onto her left and kicking the point of her right shoe to prop it against her left.
"Being abandoned and betrayed by the ones I trusted the most," she pulled her cheek between her teeth before letting go and biting down on her tongue before she flicked her gaze over to him hoping it was an easy response, Yoongi's expression lightened up but he inhaled and sat back, that one seemed to have hit home for him, clearing his throat though, Yoongi looked back at her.
"And screaming "you can't do this?""
"And "this" happened anyway, it doesn't matter, what's in the past is in the past and can't be changed, Hakuna Matata, and all that bullshit, why are you prying? Don't you, like, hate me?" Jae asked as she looked at Yoongi who made an unreadable expression.
"I'd ask what "this" is but since you don't want me to actually pry, I won't" Yoongi answered, "and "The past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, you can learn from it." you've got the quote wrong," Yoongi added before he stood up straight and tapped the railing twice before turning around and headed toward the kitchen, "I don't... hate you, I'm skeptical of new people, because I don't know their motives, their real motives not that shit people gloss over the truth with, we're both dealing with shit that we don't want people to know, and I respect that," Yoongi added as he sighed before Jae heard the door slide close.
Taking a couple more minutes outside, Jae returned inside just as breakfast was finished, chatter carried out throughout dining before Tae looked at Jae and shot her a smile, "did you feel welcomed last night? And now?" he asked with a small smile that Jae couldn't help but return.
"I do," Jae answered before she set down her empty bowl and looked at the entire table and then at Jin, "thank you for the meal," she added before Taehyung clapped his hands together, she was happy to have met his goal, keeping her as comfortable as possible, despite having guns pointed in her room this morning.
"Did your father work for Do-Jung did?" Jin asked her to change the subject into a more serious one and Jae sat back, sitting at the end of the table with the archway into the living room facing behind her.
"Something like that, when my... when my dad got a call from Do-Jung that's when he would be working for him... we were a gun-for-hire for of family, I never got to meet his kids personally, nor anybody he would operate around, safety and all that, seeing as how I was the only girl in the family, my dad never wanted me around that sort of bs anyway," Jae answered and Namjoon tilted his head, but then again he understood, he, and the rest of boys were never allowed to show up for meetings or anything.
Jin looked at the table before nodding his head, "you said last night that we have a goal in common, finding the murderer to the Heart family, nobody has been successful and seeing as how you joined up with us, I'd like to assume that you don't have many leads either? Maybe we could compare notes, obviously, restating what we had said last night, but if we work together we can't hide information," Jin added and cleared his throat and Taehyung grinned before sitting forward.
"This information has nothing to do with the goal, but, Hyun-jae, we are going shopping!" he said before standing up and beginning to clear the table, "once I finish the dishes I'll come find you and we can head out," he said before darting off toward the kitchen. Without even getting a say in the matter, Jae looked at the rest of the group with wide eyes, Jimin smiling sympathetically.
"Good luck" he muttered before the table cleared and Jae sat there dumbfounded.
"What does that even mean?!" Jae blurted out softly before getting up and heading to the gym, dressed in the appropriate attire to begin with, she began doing stretches on the mats and took in a deep breath before she began working out, punching sand bags, until Jungkook entered.
"Hey," he said kindly as he walked over and grabbed onto the bag and held it in place for her, "it's really nice having somebody new to talk to, I know way too much information about these guys than I'd like to admit." he chuckled nervously causing Jae to smile confusingly.
This was getting awkward pretty fast, "So what do you know about the boys? Tell me more about yourself, who was your father?" Jae asked, "you can answer any one of those, doesn't have to be in order," she said before she drew back her hand and shot it forward, Jungkook holding a steadied stance.
"My father was Jeon Jun-Seo, he was Do-Jung's best friend, they had known each other in high school, but sadly... I don't know, my dad died, but it's not like how the others have described their fathers deaths... Do-Jung was present for their fathers, in their homes, but my dad... my mom," he tilted his head as his gaze faltered from hers, "they died from a bomb much like the house fire that killed the Heart family," he said as he gripped onto the punching bag slightly, "Do-Jung wasn't there, he died five months later," Jungkook licked his lips as Jae noticed how his eyebrows knitted together in a tense confusion falling into a daydream of memories. Knowing it way too well, Jae removed the punching gloves before placing her thumb directly in the center of his brows and drew it upward, catching Jungkook off guard and his gaze falling back into hers. "Sorry," he swallowed thickly. "I don't want to spoil the others' stories so I'll keep that silent for them to share, like I said, I know way too much than I'd like to admit about them," he smiled sympathetically.
Jae's mind falling back onto his first answer, "your father... ran the gym on Songpanaru-gil, right?" she asked and Jungkooks face turned to a slight shock, "my dad went there once or twice, I think I went briefly," she smiled before Taehyung walked into the gym and shot her a grin.
"There you are, are you ready to go? Hoseok is joining our adventure," Tae said as he gestured toward the only exit in the gym. Nodding her head, Jae reached up and gave Jungkook gentle pets on the top of his head before she rushed to freshen up before they left.
Tae looked at Jungkook when she went upstairs and blinked, "what was that about?" he asked.
"She knew the exact street my dad's gym was on," Jungkook scoffed in amazement, "I like her," he added as he walked out of the gym and Taehyung followed before stopping at the base of the stairs waiting for Jae, Hoseok just showing up at the front door as well.

And? And?! Is this not amazing? Sorry not sorry for leaving it at a cliffhanger almost. This was written like 8-12 months apart, everything after the Jin giving Jae the pills for her migraine was written tonight. There is no editing or shortening this as I know it's been a year since I last posted or something, which means I found my notebook :D
Anyway next chapter will be updated here soon as well, a 6.5 if you will.
