Jurassic Rebels 2
Ezra's P.O.V
Me and Kanan are walking through a planet with animals that we never even knew existed. There are even plants that we are passing that I never seen before. The planet is very humid and a layer of sweat is covering our faces.
We left the Ghost about an hour ago and so far, we didn't run into anything that wants to eat us. Then karma decides to play a new game for us. A roar is heard from ahead making us stop. "Are we going to turn around?" I asked my master. "Nope," was all he said before walking forwards. "Why are we going this way when something bigger than a star destroyer and has is on their menu?" I asked.
"Ezra, we don't know a lot about this place but we still need to go get that plant. I know you're scared and it's alright cause I'm still here and have your back," Kanan said. "Ok," I said and heard another roar but it was different. "Come on, let's go meet some new friends," Kanan said and went on forwards. I followed and kept a close eye out for anything.
A couple minutes later, we arrived at an open area with all sorts of animals of different shapes and sizes. "Wow," I said in amazement. "What?" Kanan said and faced all the animals. "We're in a spot where there is an area of different animals big and small," I said, "and the best part is that they are eating the vegetation."
Kanan walked toward the animals making me confused. "What are you doing?" I asked. "Ezra, they're not going to hurt us," he said, "They are like gentle giants." I followed Kanan to the huge animals. We now stood in front of an animal with the longest neck from the others.
"I see you two like site seeing," I voice from behind us came. We turned and I saw that it was a young man, maybe in his twenties. "Who are you?" I asked. "The names Archie and who are you two?" He asked. "I'm Kanan and this is Ezra," Kanan said and I raised an eyebrow. Why did he say our names to this stranger?
"It's nice to meet ya," Archie said and walked over to the longed-neck animal. "I see you two have met a long-neck," Archie said and petted the top of it's head while it are grass. "Is that's what it's called?" I asked getting interested in theses animals. "Well no, there is a very more complicated word for this fella and the others," Archie said pointing to the other animals.
"How did you survive out here?" Kanan asked curiously. "I'm a scientist and I love studying these creatures that I like to call dinosaurs," Archie explained, "I've been here for about five years studying all the different dinosaurs that roam this planet." "That's cool," I said,"by any chance, have you been studying the plants too?" "Oh yes, lots of different species of them," Archie said with excitement, "why do you ask?" "We're trying to find this flower to help our friends," Kanan explained, "do know where this could be?"
I held up a hologram of the blue flower. Archie looked at it and nodded his head, "Ah, this flower was named by a medical nurse that worked with me," Archie said, "It's called The Heilen." "Do you know where we could find it?" I asked. "Oh yes," Archie said, "and I will gladly take you there and maybe teach you what dinos to stay away from and or run." I looked at Kanan, who nodded his head.
"Alright, I'm in too," I said making Archie smile. "You know, I always wanted to teach people about dinosaurs and now I get the chance!" Archie said excitedly. I smiled a bit and followed Archie back into the trees. We walked for a while now until we hear a loud roar. I had a bad feeling about it and what it's coming from.
Archie seemed pretty jumpy from it but kept walking towards the location of the flower. "Um, let's stop here for the night," Archie said. Me and Kanan agreed and sat down on some near by rocks. "Archie, what was that roar that made you jump a little?" I asked. We didn't make a fire cause Archie said it might attract unwanted attention. He gave me and Kanan some fruit and water then gave a gravely look. "That my mate is the beast itself," he said, "The most biggest and dangerous dinosaur I have ever seen and met."
"What are you saying?" Kanan asked. "I call her, Spinosaurus," Archie said, "she can run and swim, sneaky and smart, vicious and barely has any weakness." I looked over at Kanan and saw him in deep thought. "How did you survive with this dinosaur and any other ones that eat meat?" I asked. "Look kid," Archie said in his not so messing around tone, "I barely made it out alive when she is near. I lost a lot of good people because of her."
"So you're the only one on this planet?" Kanan asked. Archie sighed, "Yes and I plan to finish what these good people came here to do, get information on these dinosaurs." "But why risk your life for information that could get you killed?" I asked. "The same reason why rebels fight against the Empire," Archie said, "to help people understand what is and isn't dangerous on this planet. So maybe if people are dumb enough to come here then maybe they could at least save their own lives and survive. Or maybe it will encourage them to stay away."
I nodded my head and smiled, "That's a really great thing to do Archie." Archie nodded his head and smiled, "Thank you." Kanan stood up and stretched, "Alright, should we head out now?" "I think that's a splendid idea my friend," Archie said standing up. I stood up to and we were off.
We were now walking by a stream on a rocky plain. I felt something bad that was coming then looked at a puddle in front of me. I saw ripples form in it then again. I raised an eyebrow and looked around. Then I ran to Kanan and Archie with the bad feeling of something coming. I was going to tell Kanan until a roar came from the trees and the ground shook.
The dinosaur that ate some of the Ghost came out of the trees. "Don't move a muscle," Archie whispered loud enough for us to hear. Me and Kanan held as still as the rocks under us. The dinosaur kept staring at us like it was trying to find something. It let out a roar making me flinch a little. It turned around and walked away. "Why didn't it see us and what was that?" I asked full of questions.
"That my friend was a T-Rex and I'm not sure why," Archie said shrugging his shoulders, "I don't exactly like to stay around to long to find out." "Does that Spine-whatever it was called, does it was the same problem?" Kanan asked. "Oh no, it can see an object moving or not moving," Archie explained. "Then how do you beat it?" I asked.
"My my, you both have a lot of questions and I'm loving the thrill of both of yours curiosity," Archie said smiling enthusiastically, "but, I have yet to find its weakness." We kept walking down the stream until we arrived at a cliff with a waterfall. "Now what?" I asked. "Sh," Archie said staring at the trees. I looked over and didn't see anything there. "Do you see something?" Kanan whispered.
Archie looked on the other side of the stream. I did to and saw shadows moving in the trees. "I feel like we're being watched," Kanan said facing different directions. "We're surrounded," I heard Archie say and now I was getting the feeling of being watched. Then four of the same dinosaurs popped out of the trees from all around us.
"Velociraptors," I heard Archie say. I looked at the big bird like dinosaurs. 'They kind of look like T-Rex's,' I thought. "Can we stand still and not see us?" I asked Archie. He shook his head no, "These guys are to smart and are very fast so we only have one chance at escaping." "And what would that be?" Kanan asked. "We have to jump into the water at the bottom of the cliff," Archie answered.
"What?!" me and Kanan said in sync quietly. "It's either that or you outsmart and run faster than these guys," Archie said. The raptors were closing in slowly and we neared the edge of the cliff. "Trust me," Archie said and jumped off the cliff. The raptors came at me and Kanan as we jumped off the cliff. We splashed into the water then came back up and swam to shore.
Archie was already there, sitting and waiting for us. "What took you two so long?" Archie said smiling. "What, did you miss us giving you questions or something?" I said making Kanan smile a bit. Archie chuckled, "Nice one my lad." We all stood up and let the wind dry us off. "How much farther until we reach the flowers?" Kanan asked. "They are just up ahead and hopefully it's the crocs sleeping time when we get there."
"What do you mean, 'if the crocs sleeping'?" Kanan asked, "and what's the croc?" "It's a ferocious sea dino that lives near the flowers cause the flowers make this aroma that lures food for them there," Archie said, "It's called Mosasaurus but I prefer to call it the croc." (Image of Mosasaurus at the top).
"Come on Kanan, it can't be that bad," I reassured, not really believing myself. "You trying to reassure me is like this mission being safe," Kanan said and I chuckled a little.
"We are here," Archie said and I scanned the area. There on the other side of this gigantic lake were the flowers. "I see them!" I said pointing across the lake. "Great eye Ezra, now let's tally ho to the flowers!" Archie said and we walked near the edge of the lake. "Uh Archie, why can't we get a dead tree trunk and paddle across the water," I asked, "I mean, I don't see anything big and deadly on this peaceful lake."
"Oh, the croc is there," Archie said, "It's sleeping under water and if it catches any kind of movement on the water or even near it. Then we might as well be seafood." "But aren't we near the edge of the lake?" Kanan stated. "Why yes but the croc will see us if we send out ripples into the water or if it comes up then we better run," Archie explained.
Kanan didn't seem to like the thought of being near the water and neither did I. But it would be the fastest and safest thing for us right now so I didn't say anything. We kept walking until something caught my eye. I big fish jumped out of the water. "Is that the croc?" I said pointing at the big fish. Archie looked and shook his head saying, "nope."
Then something ten times bigger than the fish came up and caught the fish in its gigantic jaws. My jaw dropped while Archie said, "That's the croc and also, we better hide." We went behind the trees and looked at the water. It seemed to get disturbingly quiet. I glanced over and couldn't believe what I saw.
It was the T-Rex. It walked near the edge of the lake, looking for something to eat. Then the croc jumped out of the water and grabbed the T-Rex's leg. The T-Rex let out loud roars of pain trying to fight back. The croc dragged the T-Rex into the water and soon the lake became quiet again. I couldn't take my eyes off the spot where the T-Rex was dragged into its own death. I could even see blood rise to the surface of the water, making most of the area in the water red.
I was shaking a bit at the thought of us being in the T-Rex's shoes or feet. I felt something lay on my shoulder and jumped. "Easy kid," I heard Kanan say softly. "Are you two ok?" Archie asked worried. "I am but I think you scared Ezra," Kanan said and I glared at him. "Am not," I grumbled under my breath.
"Then you wouldn't mind if we kept going near the edge of the water," Archie said, "with that T-Rex the croc caught, I'm sure we can get to the flowers without any problems with big Nessie coming back up for a while." "Who's Nessie?" I asked Archie. He just chuckled and patted me on the shoulder.
I raised an eyebrow and followed the two to the flowers. "Kanan?" Hera's voice came through the comm. "I'm here, did you need something?" "Are you guys alright?" She asked in a motherly tone. "Yes, we are fine and we found the flowers," he replied. "Alright, please hurry, I'm not sure how much longer they have," she said and the line went dead.
"Was that your girlfriend there mate?" Archie asked. I laughed and I could tell Kanan was embarrassed. "No, she is just a friend," Kanan said 'glaring' at Archie. "Oh," was all Archie said and we finally made it to the flowers. I smiles and picked a couple of flowers with Archie.
"I got the flowers," I said to Kanan. "Ok, let's head back," he said, "Archie, could you show us the way back?" "I would love too!" He exclaimed and marched off into the direction we came from. I kept glancing at the water to make sure we didn't get any new hitchhikers come up from the water and gobble us up. I sighed in relief when we were heading away from the lake.
I stuffed the flowers into a pocket inside my jacket. We made it back to the waterfall. "So, how are we going to get back up there?" I asked. Archie waved his hand for us to follow him. We walked towards the waterfall then Archie jumped from rock to rock and disappeared behind the waterfall. I helped Kanan get over and then we jumped through the waterfall.
There was a cave that led back up to the top of the cliff. We walked up together and kept going. We were almost back to the Ghost and I couldn't wait to give Sabine and Zeb the medicine. I snapped out of my thoughts when I accidentally bumped into Kanan. "Why did you stop?" I asked him. "Something's coming," was all he said before I noticed that the sun disappeared.
Wait, the sun can't disappear that fast! Then something was breathing down my neck sending chills up and down my spine. My heart raced and my eyes widen. "A-A-Archie?" I barely said but it still got his attention. He turned around and froze at whatever was behind me. "She found us," I heard Archie say and I slowly turned my head around.
I stared into the blood red and Sith yellow eyes of the Spinosaurus.
