Chapter: Twenty-One
I awoke to a tap on my shoulder. I opened my eyes and saw Wendy kneeling in front of me.
"Good morning." She said.
"Fuck off." I replied, stretching my aching shoulders and back with a groan.
She chuckled before helping me to my feet. She led me out of the cave where Rebecca and Jen were talking.
"...no way. Batman's definitely better." I heard Rebecca first.
"Superman could totally kick his ass, they don't call him 'super' man for shits and giggles." Jen replied.
They both laughed and continued on with their conversation.
"Looks like they're becoming B-F-F's." Wendy said with a smirk.
I sat down on a rock and lit a cigarette. "I don't know wether to be happy or jealous."
"Oh, shut up." She replied with a wave of her hand.
"Babe, back me up here." I heard Rebecca call out.
I looked in their direction, exhaling smoke. "I'm with Rebecca on this one."
Jen chuckled. "Fine."
Rebecca threw her arms up in victory.
"Ok, now that that's over, can we leave?" Wendy asked.
I stood up. "Yes please."
Everyone grabbed their things and we made our way back down the path...
We finally made it to the beach house and saw Blake, Beth, and Stephanie waiting on the deck. They shot up and ran over as they saw us approaching.
"What the hell happened?" Blake asked.
"It was to dangerous to come back last night, so we camped out in the cave." Wendy replied.
Beth ran up to me and wrapped me in a tight hug.
"Whoa! Hey."
"I thought you guys got hurt." She replied.
"We're fine... to bad mom's not here to see this." I finished with a chuckle.
She released me and shot me a glare. "Why do I even bother?"
"Because you love me and you know it." I replied, ruffling her hair.
"I need a beer." Wendy stated, walking up the steps.
"Seconded." Jen said, following close behind.
Once we were inside, Wendy passed out beers to me, Blake and Jen.
"We don't get one?" Beth asked.
"Are you twenty-one?" Blake countered.
They shot her a glare.
I looked between them and Blake before responding.
"Fuck it, give 'em a beer." I replied, cracking mine open.
"Are you sure?" Wendy asked.
"Yeah, why not? One won't hurt."
Wendy shrugged and handed Beth and Stephanie a beer.
"How about you?" I asked Rebecca.
She shook her head.
"Now, if your parents ask, you didn't get it from us." Blake added.
They both nodded and opened them. Beth drank hers with no problem, but Stephanie took one sip and ran for the sink.
We all laughed.
"How do you guys drink this shit?" She asked.
I set my empty bottle down and grabbed hers.
"Like this." I said, taking a big swig.
After a few beers we all planned out our last day at the beach.
"I vote we stay inside." I said.
"Seconded." Beth added.
"C'mon you guys, it's our last day." Wendy said.
"I agree, I think we should do something fun." Blake added.
"Like what?" I asked.
They opened their mouths, but nothing came out.
"See? I think we should just stay inside and watch some movies or something." I finished.
"You do that normally." Rebecca added with a chuckle.
"And?"
"We're only here for one more day, we should do something we won't forget." Rebecca finished, looking around at everyone else, who of course nodded their agreement.
"Ugh... Fine. What's the big plan then?" I asked.
"We could..." Stephanie started, but stopped pretty quickly.
"Oh! I know. We could all get tattoos." Jen said.
"Now that I'm down for." I replied.
"I've never been able to afford one until now... fuck it, tattoos for everyone and I'm paying." Wendy added.
"That's even better." I said.
"I'm in." Blake said.
"You already know I'm in." Beth added.
I glanced at Rebecca. She seemed to ponder it for a second.
"Rebecca?" I asked.
"... Sure, why not?" She said.
We all threw our arms up and cheered. All of us except Stephanie.
"I don't know, guys, I don't think my mom would like that."
"How old are you?" Blake asked.
"Eighteen and a half."
"You're an adult and you have control of your body. Do you want a tattoo?"
She looked at the ground and thought for a second before raising it back up with a wide grin on her face. "Hell yeah."
"Then it's settled, let's get going." Wendy said, grabbing her keys.
We all filed out the door and into separate cars. Rebecca, Beth and Stephanie rode with me.
"You excited?" I asked Rebecca.
"Yeah, also kinda nervous."
"Why?"
She shrugged. "I heard tattoos hurt."
I smiled, taking her hand in mine. "Don't worry, I'll be there with you the whole time."
She smiled and nodded, giving my hand a gentle squeeze.
We pulled up in front of the tattoo parlor shortly after and walked inside.
We looked through the books and eventually, everyone picked theirs out.
"What're you getting?" Rebecca asked.
I pointed to the one I chose. It was a snake wrapped around a rose. "I'm gonna get it on my inner forearm."
She flashed me a smirk. "That's definitely you."
"Maybe while I'm here, I'll get my nipples pierced to." I finished with a wink.
She laughed, shaking her head.
I laughed back. "What're you getting?"
"A butterfly on my hip."
"That's cute."
"Thanks, I thought so to."
We waited in line as everyone got theirs. Jen and Wendy got their zodiac symbols on their wrists, Beth got a star on her hand and Blake got a dream catcher on her bicep.
Finally, Stephanie walked out, tears still in her eyes.
"What'd you get?" I asked.
She pulled down her shirt to reveal a small heart on her collar bone.
"I bet that one hurt." Beth said.
"Hell yeah it did." She replied.
I chuckled as Rebecca and I made our way in. We were greeted by a slim woman in her mid-twenties, she had black hair and tattoos everywhere. She introduced herself as Kat.
We shook her hand and I sat in the chair before pointing out which one I wanted.
"That'll look good on you." Kat said.
I could see the hint of jealousy in Rebecca's eyes.
"Babe? Could you hold my hand?" I asked, flashing her a smirk.
She returned it and sat down next to me, taking my hand in hers.
Kat cut her flirting pretty quick after that and got to work on my tattoo.
After a very painful hour and a half I got up from the chair and looked at the finished product in the mirror.
"What do you think?" I asked Rebecca.
"Looks hot." She replied with a wink.
I smirked and led her back to the chair.
"And how about you?" Kat asked Rebecca.
"I want that butterfly on my hip." She said, pointing her choice out in the book.
Kat nodded and got to work. Rebecca began to flinch, tears welling up in her eyes.
I sat next to her and took her hand in mine.
"It's ok, don't think about it, just talk to me." I said with a reassuring smile.
She returned my smile and we began talking about nonsense as Kat did her work.
Before we knew it, Kat finished up Rebecca's tattoo and we walked up to the mirror. I looked at the black butterfly that was now on her hip.
I let out a whistle. "Damn, babe."
She rolled her eyes and giggled.
We made our way back to our waiting friends and showed off our tattoos. After we talked about it for a while, we walked up to the front counter to pay.
"That's a lot of money, are you sure you don't want us to chip in?" Stephanie asked.
"No, it's ok, really." Wendy replied.
We just nodded as Wendy pulled out her credit card and paid the man behind the counter.
After we paid, we turned to leave, only to realize Blake wasn't with us.
I scanned the room for her, spotting her chatting it up with Kat, a flirtatious smirk on her lips.
"You guys go to the car, we'll be right out." I said with a smile.
They nodded before walking out.
I walked up to Blake and Kat.
"I love that one, it's so... sexy." Blake said, running a finger over one of Kat's many tattoos. Kat blushed in response.
"Sorry to break this up, but we're leaving, Blake."
They looked at me and Blake nodded.
"Fine, I'll give you a call when I get home." Blake said to Kat, who smiled and waved us off.
We made it to our cars and drove back to the beach house for one last night before it was time to head home...
