Chapter: One-Hundred

Rebecca and I pulled into the parking lot of Beth's apartment building. We got out and headed up to her place.

Beth herself let us in, Stephanie keeping the kids company in the living room.

"Took you guys long enough." Beth said.

I ruffled her hair. "Aww, did you miss us?"

She rolled her eyes. "You're really annoying sometimes, you know that?"

I just chuckled as I wandered into the living room, Rebecca following behind me.

The kids shot up and pulled us into hugs as we approached.

I smiled down at them. "At least I know you guys missed us."

They smiled back as Rebecca sat down on the couch next to Stephanie. "So, did you guys have fun with aunt Beth and aunt Stephanie?" She asked.

"Yeah." Anna said as she plopped down next to Rebecca.

"Aunt Beth showed us how to throw a proper punch." Max added, sitting down next to his sister.

I glanced over at Beth. "Is that so?"

She shrugged. "I only taught them what you taught us back in high school."

Stephanie chuckled. "What do you mean 'us?'"

Beth joined us in the living room. "You remember. It was the night of our first high school party. Those girls were picking on us-"

"Oh, you mean when Skylar had to come save our asses?" Stephanie cut in.

I laughed lightly. "Now that I remember."

"What happened?" Max asked.

I glanced at Beth. "Care to tell it?"

She shrugged, sitting down on the chair next to the couch. "Sure, you always tell it wrong anyway."

We all shared a laugh as Beth began the story...

Nine Years Ago...

Tonight was the big night. Stephanie and I got invited to our first party since being in high school. It was a big step in the right direction for our image, even if Stephanie didn't think so...

We stepped out of Skylar's car, waving her off before looking up at the giant, looming house. The house that belonged to the most popular girl in school, Cindy Parks.

"Wow, it's a lot bigger in person." Stephanie said.

I nodded slowly. "You're telling me."

Stephanie shook her head. "I can't believe Cindy invited us, she must really like you."

I felt a blush grow on my cheeks then.

At the time, I wasn't fully aware of my feelings for women. I thought it was just a phase that I'd grow out of. But, I was wrong and I'd never been so happy to be wrong in my life.

I waved my hand dismissively. "I doubt it... Now c'mon, we're already running late."

So, Stephanie and I marched up the front stairs and rang the door bell.

She glanced at me nervously before it opened, Cindy waiting for us on the other side.

"Hey, guys, glad you could finally make it." She greeted, ushering us through the door.

Stephanie and I looked around the giant living room, hundreds of students stood around, drinks in hand.

"It looks like the whole school showed up." Stephanie whispered.

"Probably did." I whispered back.

Then, Cindy draped her arms around our shoulders. "So, what're you ladies drinking?"

"Beer." I replied.

"Nothing for me." Stephanie added, stepping out of Cindy's grasp.

Cindy stick her tongue out. "Fine, more for the rest of us." Then, she skipped off, presumably to grab my beer.

I glanced over at Stephanie, she seemed nervous, out of place.

"Hey, you doing ok?" I asked, resting my hand on her arm.

She just nodded.

"Alright, let's go find somewhere to sit, then." I said, leading her deeper into the party...

We eventually found ourselves sitting around the fireplace outside, surrounded by our schools most elite students. The jocks, the rich kids, and worst of all, the divas.

There in front of me sat my mortal enemy. The girl I absolutely despised: Raquel Chambers.

She was surrounded by her entourage as usual. The students who're either to afraid to admit they hated her or were to stupid to realize she was just a stuck up brat.

Stephanie nudged me before whispering in my ear. "Did you know she was gonna be here?"

I leveled a glare at Raquel. "The thought crossed my mind."

Raquel met my glare with a smug smirk, waving her manicured fingers at me.

Then, I felt a hand on my shoulder.

I looked up to see Cindy standing there, fresh beer in hand.

"Here you are." She said, handing me the beer.

I gave her a nod before taking a sip.

"So." Cindy addressed the group. "Who wants to play spin the bottle?"

Most of the students let out a cheer, while the others awkwardly shuffled off.

The rest of us formed a circle on the patio, the bottle sitting in the middle of us.

"I don't know if I wanna play this." Stephanie said.

I gave her shoulder a reassuring squeeze. "It'll be fun, I promise."

She just nodded back, focusing her attention on the bottle as Cindy leaned forward to spin it...

A few rounds in, it was finally my turn to spin. I gave the bottle a quick spin, everyone watching with anticipation.

It started to slow before finally coming to a stop in my direction.

I let out a scoff. "Well, I can't really kiss myself."

"True, but you can kiss your friend there." Raquel said, turning the end of the bottle towards Stephanie.

We faced each other, the situation clearly making Stephanie uncomfortable.

I shook my head before refacing Raquel. "That's not how the game works."

She smiled. "Don't tell me little Miss Badass is afraid of a simple kiss."

I glared at her. "Watch it."

"Yeah, c'mon, Rocky, this is supposed to be fun." Cindy said.

Raquel shrugged. "I'm having fun."

I stood up then. "At least someone is. I'm outta here."

I started to walk away when Stephanie grabbed my arm. "Wait."

I turned to face her. "What?"

She averted my gaze, lowering her voice so only I would hear. "C'mon, it's just a quick kiss. We can't let her win."

I looked from her to Raquel's smug face.

"Fine, let's do this."

Stephanie and I rejoined the group before facing each other.

"You ready?" I asked.

She just nodded before slowly leaning in.

I did the same, meeting her lips in the middle for a soft kiss.

I felt my whole body warm up at the sensation. A feeling I wasn't really expecting.

Then, we heard the snap of a camera.

We both turned, seeing Raquel snapping pictures with her phone.

"This is gonna look so good on my page. #lesbotruth." She said to herself.

I angrily got to my feet, Stephanie turning away from the group.

"Delete it, now." I said sternly.

Raquel got to her feet as well. "Or what?"

We squared off, neither one flinching.

I stared her right in the eyes. "Delete it, or I'll make you."

She just smirked before I felt a hard fist connect with my face.

I fell to the ground, clutching my jaw, looking up to see one of Raquel's lackeys rubbing her hand.

I felt a few tears well up in my eyes as everyone around us whooped and laughed.

Stephanie helped me to my feet. "C'mon, let's just go."

I let her lead me back into the house and towards the front door.

"Beth. Wait." I heard, turning to see Cindy approaching me.

I quickly wiped at my eyes as she came to a stop in front of us. "What do you want?"

"I just wanted to apologize. That wasn't cool and if you want you can stay. I'll make her leave." Cindy said.

I just shook my head. "Thanks, but no thanks. I think I'm just gonna head home."

Cindy nodded. "Ok... I'll see you at school then?"

I nodded back before we continued our walk to the front door.

I texted Skylar as we waited on the sidewalk.

"Are you ok?" Stephanie asked.

I just shrugged.

She rested a hand on my shoulder. "I'm sorry."

"Don't be. You didn't cheap shot me."

She smiled slightly before pulling me into a hug.

"And the plot thickens." We heard, turning to see Raquel and two of her friends approaching us.

"Haven't you caused enough trouble?" Stephanie asked, taking a defensive step in front of me.

Raquel folded her arms over her chest. "That's cute, having your girlfriend fight your battles for you."

I grabbed Stephanie's arm, leading her towards the street. "C'mon, she's not worth it."

Just as we made it to the street, Skylar's car pulled to a stop in front of us.

I opened the passenger side door. "Hey, thanks for coming to get us."

Skylar studied the forming bruise on my face. "What happened?"

"Raquel Chambers." Stephanie said.

Skylar glanced at her. "Who's that?"

"That girl over there." I said, pointing my thumb back to where Raquel and her friends still stood.

Skylar looked from me to her then back before stepping out of the car.

I quickly stood in front of her. "What're you doing?"

She just patted my shoulder before walking past me, right up to Raquel.

"You Raquel?" She asked.

Raquel nodded. "What's it to you?"

Skylar didn't answer, instead she launched a fist into Raquel's face, sending her crashing to the grass.

"You or any of your asshole friends ever touch my sister again and I'll make you fucking regret it. Is that understood?" Skylar asked the small group.

They all quickly nodded, scared expressions on their faces.

Skylar nodded to them before walking back towards us. "Let's go..."

Present Day...

"... And then we left and Raquel never bothered me again." Beth finished.

Rebecca let out a low whistle. "So, you hit a seventeen-year-old girl?" She asked me.

I shrugged. "Worked didn't it?"

We all laughed, enjoying a few more hours together before Rebecca and I grabbed the kids and headed home...
