9 | You Win
In the middle hall between the entrance and the club room, three girls stood at the booth collecting envelopes and big black trash bags. Wow, that's a lot of trash, I thought. I kept going, entering the club, looking for my dad. I was so confused, I couldn't understand why women were dressed up as animals. Some had pig ears, peacock tails, and kitty ears with only their bras and panties.
Costumes, perhaps. That time in my life I thought it was early Halloween. Women in their panties and bras claim it’s their bathing suit, but it’s all the same in my humble opinion.
Then I spotted her. My mom dressed as a rabbit showing off her body and sitting on some old school lap, playing with his bald head. I looked for my dad as I spotted him watching the same thing I was watching. He stormed to her, yanking her off the man's lap. That's when I discovered she was a gogo dancer. The horror.
“What the hell do you think you're doing?” He yelled at the top of his lungs. I know everyone heard him. She snatched away, fuming.
“Working towards my dream, Leo.” She storms away from him. He follows behind her, not giving up on the conversation that easily. And I tread behind, hoping they don’t forget me in the midst of an argument.
“Like hell you are. Do you know what the guys are saying at my job? They can come see you anytime they want.”
“Well, sorry that your ego is bruised, but your money is not enough. I have a dream, Leo. I’m working towards my goal because those who work towards their goals with patience, their dreams come true.” She screamed back at him in the middle of the parking lot and then she felt me staring and calmed down instantly.
“Oh, Jason.” She walked up to me with so much sadness in her eyes. My dad grunted and went to his truck, swinging the door open, followed by a slam, and screeched out of the parking lot. My mom did what she had to do to work towards her dream. I didn’t agree with it, but who am I to stop her? Who is my dad to stop her?
It’s better to live for what you want than risk it for love that will end in resentment and regret. I turned to Opal and took the small body out of her hands.
“Fine, you win.” I popped it open, gazing at the devilish woman before me. Her hair turned deep violet with heat in her eyes, and I drank the potion.
