Plot:

It happened ten years ago.

The town assumed - and hoped - it was just a one time occurrence. Maybe even a coincidence. But the strangulation marks on the drowned girl's neck found when they dragged her out of the lake proved it was anything but a coincidence. For weeks the town was on edge, locking themselves indoor after dusk and constantly looking over their shoulders. When no one else died afterwards, they dismissed it. Brushed it aside and locked the event away in the closet along with the rest of the town's dirty deeds. Never to be brought up again.

MC is a swimmer in college. She has spent her life being fascinated by murder crimes - especially the drowning ten years ago. She is always told to put aside the morbid curiosity and focus on her life, especially by her father who discourages her looking into that specific case. The town has long put aside the drowning.

Until another girl winds up dead in the lake.

Every two weeks, another girl in the town vanishes and is found dead in the lake, strangled by a some sort of cord. When the victim's homes are investigated, police find the same three things placed throughout the house: a green ribbon, a piece of blue fabric, and a picture of the lake they drowned in.

The MC is eager to look into the case, but is told by everyone to leave it alone as it's dangerous and she isn't involved in it. She resignedly relents and leaves it alone. Until one day, she comes home to a green ribbon tied around the door knob.

Terrified, the MC pushes aside the warnings of the people she knows and dives headfirst into investigating the case with her best friend, desperate to not become the next name in a case file. She has 2 weeks to figure out who the murderer is before she's the next one choking on water.

Days before the date of her death, the MC discovers the three items in her father's drawer. Horrified, she reports him and he is taken into custody. She also finds a tape later after the police take her father away. Before submitting it for evidence, she looks through it in hopes of finding some sort of reason for her father's actions. She skips ahead to see if there's anything else and finds herself on the tapes. She sees herself drowning the most recent victims, the blue fabric in their mouths to gag them and strangling them wither the green ribbon. In a panic, she races to the station to talk to her father. It turns out she she has split personality and doesn't remember when she's the other side of herself. She drowns the victims in remembrance of her mother who drowned years ago in the ocean on a cruise. Weeks before the first murder ten years ago.

On the day of her supposed death, the MC snaps awake in the middle of the night. She finds herself at the lake and looks down to see her best friend strangled with the ribbon. She realizes she must have been as her other personality and throws her friend into the lake, and jumps in after her to finally put an end to the murders.
