Plot:

MC is a teenage, homeless kleptomaniac who stumbles upon a pair in an alley dealing chunks of valuable metal and gems. Though the MC doesn't know it, the materials have magical properties that give the buyer certain abilities. However, these powers can go awry if the buyer isn't from the land where the materials came from.

The MC watches as the pair does their business and follows the buyer out of the alley, bumping into him and grabbing the materials. Upon touching them, the MC gets abilities, and the buyer chases the MC down. The MC barely manages to get away and tries to deal with their newfound powers.

The MC is confronted by someone from the land where the materials came from and is told that there is another realm where violence reigns. Kingdoms clash and assassination is a common occurrence. The buyer is part of a group that sows discord in the realm and is intent on spreading it to the real world.

The MC discovers that the power they received from touching the materials is an extremely rare one, meaning they are connected to the alternate realm in an important-yet mysterious-way. The MC is whisked to the realm, where they must work with the opposing forces to cease chaos and prevent it from reaching the real world. However, the MC learns that the key to stopping the threat might be in stopping themselves.
