SneakPeak, other details
The moon was full in the starless night sky, so quiet you could hear the leaves rustling as the wind blew. A young girl stood in the meadow, the ground soft beneath her feet from the rain just that morning. She clutched her cloak to herself, glancing around, waiting for them to show.
She knew they had gotten the ravens she had sent, she received one back from the both of them. It was close to the meeting time, and she was getting anxious. If anyone found her room empty, if her husband found her room empty.. Her heart began beating faster, her hands began to sweat at the thought. Maybe she should leave before they showed. Maybe it wasn't worth the risk.
She turned around to walk away, took two steps and stopped. No, she had to do this. Breathing deeply and exhaling slowly, her nerves became calm again. Another breath and she felt almost normal.
Turning around once again, to wait for them. She gasped softly, hand going to her heart. They were already there, yet she didn't hear them approach.
They were dressed in black robes, hoods pulled up. When they lifted their heads her eyes widened. The top half of their faces painted black, only the whites of their eyes shone. The bottom half of their faces looked like they were wearing a mask, a mask made of splintered bones.
She waited for them to speak first, but they just watched her silently, eyes going up and down here before one of them cocked their head to the side. “I am pleased you have graced me with your presence.” she told them in a soft voice, barely above a whisper.
The two figures looked at one another, “You requested us, we have come.” said a female voice, she couldn't tell which one it was, as the mask didn't move when they spoke. She shivered, pulling her cloak tighter around herself to mask it as cold weather.
Taking a quick deep breath she nodded her head, afraid to speak. Once the words were spoken there was no taking them back. If they did not succeed she knew her life would be at risk. Yet she was already here, she had sent for them. In her heart she knew this is what she wanted, what she needed.
“I have come seeking your finest warrior.”
This time is wasn't the female to speak, it was the other one. “Why would a noble lady like yourself need our finest warrior?” his voice was deep, rough, and demanded respect.
“That is for me and the warrior to know, once he is delivered to me.” she told him firmly.
The women stepped up to her, she could now tell that the mask she wore was indeed, splintered bones. She tried not to cringe away, she had to appear strong. “What do you need the warrior for?” the women asked the young girl, “You have your own knights to protect you.”
“I can not say.” the girl whined, she wanted her warrior, so she could say the words to him, no one else. The less people that knew of this the better, the less likely her life was at risk.
The women with the mask turned her back on the girl and began walking, the man turned and glanced back over his shoulder, “Then you can not have.”
“Wait!” the girl called to them, “I'll tell you, but I must have him. I must!”
The two stopped but didn't look back, the girl sounded desperate, which only peaked their interest more. “Speak.”
“You know I have recently been wed to the heir of the throne.” she hinted at them.
The two nodded their heads silently, their eyes locked onto her face. They had an idea of what she wanted, but she need to say it, otherwise her request would be rejected.
“The king must die,” she whispered, the winds carrying her words to them.
One of the masked figures walked back to her, dragging a bone tipped finger along the girls cheek. The girl held her breath, and tensed her body, but she did not move away. In a hushed tone the masked women whispered in her ear, “The best warrior you shall have.”
This book will be the planning book, I want to start a fresh book once I have all the characters filled. That's just so I can see how many people are interested in it outside of the people that added characters.
Anyways, how was that little sneak peak to the book? Well actually it's kind of the start to the book, though there will likely be a time jump.
If you are interested in this type of plot and era continue to the next chapter for additional information on the characters.
Feel free to tag people, though not necessary.
