I Should Just Leave

I stared at the scene in front of me, tears welling in my eyes. I had killed all of the Yakuza members. My pale skin was covered in their blood, along with my scythe. Strangely enough, the blood only got on the blade.

I felt so guilty for what I had just done, but at the same time, I felt oddly satisfied. These evil villains would never be able to hurt Eri again. No souls came out of their bodies, despite the fact that they were so obviously dead. Their eyes rolled to the back of their heads, blood spraying out of mulitple stab wounds. The liquid was everywhere, staining the once clean walls a ruby red. I felt oddly entranced by the color. It was beautiful, really. At least, until it dried, then it would become an ugly, rusty color. But not the blood on my scythe. It remained that same, beautiful red, forever and always.

I hated how drawn I was to the blood. I hated how pretty it looked. I kept on comparing myself to a villain because of it. I didn't want to be a villain. But I couldn't stop myself from staring at the red in awe.

I couldn't help but wonder if my sudden attraction to blood was due to becoming a reaper.

Eventually, I pulled myself from my trance, and walked out of the building. Now I just needed to write an anonymous note to the heroes, to tell them about Eri. Then she would be safe, far away from this horrid place. And away from me.

Deep down, as much as I hated it, I knew that I was only a danger to Eri. I didn't want her to get hurt, so I have to stay away from her, so I don't endanger her.

I sighed, shaking my head as I walked. I just needed to write the note, then she'd be safe.

I picked up a paper and pen from the nearby desk of the now dead Yakuza leader, and began writing. When I finished, I looked the note over, and nodded, satisfied. Some drops of blood got on the note, but it didn't matter. I had mentioned how the Yakuza had been murdered by a villain know as "Grim Reaper", that villain was actually myself. After I had taken Chisaki's hands off, the media came up with that name for me.

I glanced at the bloodied scene once more, before walking away.

I had easily managed to get the note into the police station, and placed it on the counter. Soon after, the note was found and heroes went to go investigate. Eri was going to be safe.

I was wisped away to go reap souls, happy that I had suceeded to keep the girl out of harms way any more.

----

As I stared out into the river, I could feel regret bubbling in my gut. Eri was the last good thing left in my sorry existance, and I had to leave her.

It would've been selfish if you stayed! You are a danger to everyone around you!!

She would only be hurt by you!! You've seen how scared of you she is!!

stop...

You are ment to reap the dead, nothing more!!!

stop..

If you hadn't become a reaper, your existance would've been meaningless!!

stop

You would just be some useless ghost, unable to do anything!!

STOP

You would be even more useless than you were when you were alive!! More worthless than a dumb, quirkless Deku!!

Heh, how pathetic... you should be worried about Eri's wellbeing, not your fragile self-worth!!! You really ARE a monster!!!

Other ghosts stared at me, terrified, but I didn't care. They could be scared of me for all I cared. I screamed out, but it didn't sound right. It sounded demonic and echoy, piercing through any and all thoughts. Even the living could hear it now, but I just didn't care.

My scream went silent, although the feeling it gave off still remained, as the glow of my eyes stopped completely. After a few seconds, the green glow continued, but it felt odd. I fell to the ground, my mind numbed from so many different emotions.

I looked at the river again, and instantly noticed something horribly wrong. My pupils had vanished completely. My glowing green irises had changed shape, now taking the forms of cartoon-like skulls.

Normally, I would've been terrified, but right now, I was just to exhausted to notice the fear.

A/N

Sorry this is a bit short, and don't worry, Eri will be back.
