chapter 46
When Gwen and Trinity arrived back at the cottage, both Angus and Sophia were angry with them. It was an hour later than the allowed time to be out, and they were worried about both girls, not just their own. Angus ranted and raved, Sophia scolded them like children. Angus had been so angry he sent the two of them to bed without supper. Trinity had a look of fear across her color drained face. They did as they were told to avoid upsetting him any further. Once they were off in the privacy of the bedroom, the two sat down on the bed to talk. Gwen let her know not to worry about her father, he would calm down in a day or two. It made Trinity feel a little better.
When they settled in both of them began a little writing. Gwen worked on a few of her own chants, as Trinity worked on the poetry book. It wasn't but a mere 15 minutes before she had fallen asleep with her spell book still open next to her. Trinity smiled, and then did a third eye meditation before attempting to end the night. Laying there in a deep meditative state, but couldn't seem to fall asleep completely.
She stared at the ceiling, listened to crickets sing, frogs croak, every sound outside seemed to fuel a case of insomnia. She tossed and turned for the better part of the night, until finally she couldn't fight the unrest any longer, and fell into a deep dream world state. When her subconscious took over, it began to prey on her deepest fear. Lost in a deep section of dreamland, she saw something that scared her to the bone. In this purple fog she saw Gwen abandoned her saying "I don't know who you are anymore."
Horrified, she saw her dream state- self run to the castle, run to the sanctuary of dark magic. Did she belong on the dark side of the balance? Was she mistaken that she was the witch of balance? The thought woke her from the nightmare; she was wide awake, feeling her body jolt back into the conscious world.
It took her a little to return back, at first she forgot where she was, once it registered, she grabbed her spell book and in the back of it added a section for her eyes only, her book of nightmares. Slowly writing by the light of the moon she added in what jumbled information had remained in her memory. Writing bits and pieces in stealth mode, she didn't want to wake Gwen, would assume something was wrong.
Trinity could sense something was off, be it a creature or witch, or dark soul. She could feel something was going to change in Galderia. She, like most people feared for the worst. Closing her spell book, she rolled back over; the sun would be up in a few hours. Whatever was going to happen in this little village would be dealt with when it was necessary. Drifting off back into the dream world, she hoped if she had to dream, let it be a pleasant one.
The next morning, Gwen was up with the sun, she had slept rather well, with dreams of magic and of her everyday life. Trinity was still asleep, so to be nice, she did all the chores and let her friend catch up on her rest. It was obvious she needed it. Gwen didn't mind, sometimes a person needed a little more sleep than the night would allow. She waited; eventually her friend would wake up. Gwen just kept herself occupied with the family garden. Over an hour seemed to just fly by and when she returned from pulling weeds and talking to the plants, her friend was awake.
"Good morning did you get enough rest?"
"I really hope so, is there any coffee left over?" Trinity asked rubbing her eyes and yawning.
"Yeah, at least a cup or more, relax, I can get it for you, sit."
"Thank you, so much. You're the best I mean it."
"Don't worry, anytime you need me, I'd help."
"I know you would."
"Look, just enough left for two cups." Gwen remarked, pouring a cup for each of them. Serving them both she sat down next to her best friend.
"Where are your parent's this morning?" She asked to make conversation; enjoying the feminine ritual of talking and coffee or tea together. It was pleasant to her, something to always look forward to. This place had become home to her. She loved feeling as if she had a sister, nice people to get to know.
"My father went somewhere very early; he was gone before I was awake. My mother went to another village to get a few things; she likes to shop in other villages on rare occasion." Gwen over explained it by a long shot, but with such a bright aura, Trinity loved her ramblings.
It would make her grin and giggle when her "sister of magic" got going. She felt so at home and welcomed in this place, she loved it, and she couldn't believe this little place brought her such a sense of balance and peace. She couldn't imagine life any other place.
"So what do we have going on today?" Trinity asked curious.
"We have a free day, what do you want to do today?" Gwen replied with a cheesy grin.
"I'm not really sure, work on my abilities, I guess."
"It never hurts to keep up on it." She advised, sipping her coffee. Gwen never cared for it, but tolerated it.
"What about you?" Trinity asked, being polite.
"I'm meeting Edwynn; it's his day off too." Blushing as she spoke, Gwen turned trying to hide the red flowing to her cheeks.
"When are you meeting with him?" She asked, taking a gulp of the warmed coffee.
"He shall arrive any minute now, I'll be back. Feel free to use any of my books if you need to." Offered her thoughtful roommate.
"Thank you, I may do so." Trinity replied, so glad to have met Gwen, she was considerate and thoughtful, a naturally giving person. No wonder everyone adored her so much.
As the two were finishing off the last of the coffee, there was a knock at the door. Gwen jumped up, hugging her friend goodbye for the afternoon. She then bolted out the door like a comet. Trinity knew it must have been Edwynn at the door. Trinity then got up, making herbal tea to take with her while she worked on her spell book and as always getting out the poetry book just in case it is needed. With no one coming home for quite some time, Trinity grabbed what she needed and began to study at the little kitchen table while sipping tea.
She sat in a comfortable position and looked through the stack of books she shared with Gwen. There was herb magic, beginners' guide to meditation. That wasn't a good one, the next one, Dream magic had intrigued her, she set it to the side, then flipping through a few more she found an interesting looking book on astral travel. A strange spark of the chills swept over her. Trinity took it as a sign from the goddess. She set it next to the dream book, and then began sipping tea while going over her spell book.
She then picked up her book of poetry and began to read over her old ones. She loved those, this one had a few in it, but she loved to read over them. It was something she had done since childhood. Some little girls kept diaries, she kept poetry books, and had never given up on it. She had a passion for it that matched nothing else.
Sitting at the family kitchen table, she was deeply involved in the dream book. She read over most of the book before refilling her tea cup and then reading onward. She could always lose herself in a book; she loved reading and researching different things. She had read through the entire dream book with several cups of tea, and then opened her spell book to write down a dream chant of her own.
"As my physical body begins to toss and turn, what is it dear goddess that I'm supposed to understand, what is it that I must learn?
What is it I must see, under the dark skies, is that where the truth lies?"
She paused a moment before finishing out the chant, "As it is written, so it will be, bring harm to none, not even me."
Trinity read it three times as she finished the last of the tea. She was enjoying a lot of study time; she had a thirst for knowledge, and a love of her spell book. She then set that one down, and began to read the book on astral travel
. It was beyond fascinating to her. She read through a few chapters before writing out a few personalized meditative exercises'. She had never heard of it before now, it sounded interesting and very exciting, it really sparked her curious nature. She dove further and further into the book, she wrote down as much as she could. Once she had gotten through that book too, she noticed no one was home yet, so she looked through some of her poetry. There have been times it would inspire her to write more of them, It felt as if it came from her soul, not just from her life experience witch until now wasn't much. She closed her eyes and waited to see if anything would flow in her thoughts. As if Thor's lightning bolt had shot a muse to her she came out with a poem and began scribbling as quickly as a jackrabbit.
Born of confusion,From the magic to the mundane. Yet through the veil, the cycle of life, Each existence different... and each is the same.
Trinity looked down and the poem, there wasn't much to it, but she liked it regardless. A heart felt smile came across her facial expression. She then remembered the rest of the household would be back soon. She rinsed her cup in the sink. Then grabbing her books from the table, getting them put away before forgetting to. Other than Gwen, she told no one of her poetry, it was like her book of secrets; Meant only to be shared with a person with a bond to the soul. Running the books to the bedroom she heard someone come home. She ran out of the room to see who had come home. Turning the corner she saw that it was Sophia home from the other village with a few house items and trinkets. She hurried over to help with the bags, but Sophia said she had it, so Trinity made a pot of coffee for her instead.
Sophia turned around to see what the girl was doing.
"Oh, bless you're heart, thank you."
"You're welcome, anything for you."
"Sit and have a cup with me?" Sophia asked after she had put her new things away.
"Sure, I'd like that."
Once the coffee had finished brewing, Trinity poured and served while the lady of the house got to sit from her long trip. It was a blessing letting the girl move in here. Sophia had really liked having her in their home. Sipping her coffee, she handed her new house mate a medium sized box shaped like a star, it had a lid and was decorated with beads of clear and white gems.
"What is it?"
"It is for you honey, to keep little things in, if you wish."
"Oh, thank you. You don't have to buy me things, but I do love it."
"I know I don't have to, I wanted to. Now you enjoy it, go on and put it in a nice place in your room."
Trinity nodded, and then hugged her. Doing as she was told she went to the bedroom and put away her trinket box. She barely owned anything, but she would find something special to put in it. Now she couldn't wait for Gwen to return to show her the trinket box. Trinity smiled, she was home.
