chapter 2
"What is the lesson going to be this time?" She asked, eager to learn.
Maggie had been teaching a select few over the years now. She had rarely seen the kind of magic that Gwen possessed. The girl had rare talent, a power within her that could not be simply taught. She was born with it, a natural witch. Gwen was not aware of her gifts, she inherited them yet she didn't know where from. It would be either side of her family. She was of strong rooted Irish decent. Maggie had not seen magic like that since her own youth.
"Oh yes dear, we"ll work on potions." Gwen hadn't worked on potions before. She wanted to learn something different, a love of new experiences.
"I've never made potions before." Gwen admitted sheepishly.
"That's okay I will teach you."
"I don't know a thing about ingredients", Gwen added nervously.
"Young one it's all right, you will learn." Maggie reassured the apprentice.
"Now were doing a potion what do we need to have first?" Maggie asked her.
"The cauldron right?" Gwen asked more of a question than an answer.
"You are correct." Maggie informed Gwen.
Maggie then gathered a few items. A bottle with a cork a few different herbs and oils. She brought them over to the table with the cauldron . She made sure to pay extra close attention to every single move Maggie made while she prepared for the potion making session. Gwen did not wasn't to mess up a single step, one little mistake can throw the entire thing off balance. She had learned that over the last six months with Maggie training her.
"Can you think of any specific need in your home?" Maggie asked the young witch.
Gwen thought a moment about her home and then it hit her like a fallen branch.
"Well my mother, Sofia she gets in these awful moods. She is really impatient especially with father." Gwen admitted to Maggie ashamed that she was speaking ill of her mother but it was not a lie.
"Ah, a potion to calm tensions within the home, that's perfect." Maggie commented. She gave her student an approving smile, and then began to mix the ingredients for the potion together, focused on the task.
"Now the most basic element added to any form of magic, intent. Do you prefer we chant or would you like a spell to be cast?" Maggie asked her.
"A spell, I think." Gwen replied.
"Now close your eyes and concentrate on the outcome." Gwen nodded to her instructions. Maggie held her hand as she began the required incantation.
"Tensions brew and tempers flare dark spirits negative force is no longer there, fill the home with joy and love as below so above. So mote it is." Maggie repeated the incantation three times and handed the potion to her.
"Now when you at home and alone anoint the doorways and windows with this potion." Maggie carefully instructed her. Gwen smiled at her, with a deep appreciation.
"Yes of course. Thank you so much." Gwen told her.
"It is fine. Just remember a spell takes time and patience to work." Maggie instructed her.
