↳CHAPTER FIVE

CHAPTER FIVE:

DRAMA

"What list?" No one answered Rin, all of them averting from her stare. "Zach, what list are they talking about?" She turned to her best friend, knowing that he would tell her– he never kept things from her.

Zach sighed, his words coming out as a mumble. "Bryce thought it was a good idea–"

"Dude, shut up." Bryce hissed out, glaring as his friend was about to spill the secret to a girl.

"No," Rin told him sharply, looking at all the boys surrounding her– all still ignoring her stare. "What's so secretive about this list?"

"It's about who is the best what out of the girls." Alex told her as he looked around at the jocks, slamming his tray of food down onto the table.

Rin scrunched her nose up in confusion. "Do you mean like–"

"Like best fuck, best ass, yeah Rin.

"That is the most idiotic thing I've heard of." Rin spat out with a frown, shoving food into her mouth. She wasn't going to let the lunch hour go past without eating, even if there was drama happening.

"Yeah, it's stupid." Alex mumbled, flinching as Bryce shoved him hard with his shoulder. It was.

"Women aren't here to be objectified, Bryce." Rin told him with a condescending tone, using her fork to point at him. "Woman aren't on earth to please your every whim. Not all girls would like to fuck you. For example, me."

Hollers were heard from the boys around her at her comment. She rolled her eyes at the hollers that indicated how immature teenage boys could be.

"That was savage, Rin." Alex told her with a grin. It was his first real smile of the day.

"Shut up," she mumbled, glancing down at the table in embarrassment. She rarely spoke up about anything but Bryce just made her mad. She hated him and she didn't know why. Maybe how shady he was and acted like he was Gods gift on earth.

Bryce muttered in annoyance, slamming his tray on the table as he got up to leave. He didn't like being disrespected, especially in front of his friends by a girl.

Alex scooted over to sit in Bryce's vacant spot beside Justin, leaning forward to talk with Rin. Everyone at the table sat up straighter, as if the absence of Bryce made the air a bit lighter.

"It's a stupid list, Rin." Alex told her, as if that would be an apology.

"Then why did you add to it?" Justin retorted as he shoved food in his mouth, finally joining the conversation.

Rin narrowed her eyes but saw how Alex looked down at his hands. "That list needs to be burned, okay?" Rin turned to Zach. "You didn't add to it, did you?"

"Yeah he almost did," Marcus said with a laugh, peeking from beside Zach to look at their female friend. The table was too big for its own good. Rin tended to stick with Zach or Jeff out of the jocks but sadly, all jocks sat together. So whatever drama was happening, everyone knew.

"What?" Rin asked, astonished.

"Rin–" Zach tried to speak but was interrupted by Marcus. His mouth opened and shut as he turned to his friend, horrified that Marcus was speaking.

"He was gonna put you on there as–"

"Marcus!" Zach spoke loudly and the tables around them became quiet, turning to stare at them. He cleared his throat in embarrassment. "Dude, not helping."

"Zach?" Rin asked softly, her heart dropping.

"Y-You were an option for hottest girl." Zach breathed out after struggling to find the words. He didn't want to offend her in anyway.

Rin he knew the list was wrong but blushed, she liked Zach and he thought she was attractive. . . Maybe she could have a chance with him after all?

"Uh, thanks?" Rin replied in question, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear.

"I didn't though," Zach added quickly, blushing in embarrassment. "I thought if I did you would hate me."

"I'd probably be mad at you Zach," Rin began, placing her hand on his arm.

"But I could never hate you."

IT WAS FINALLY THE END of the school day and Rin knew that she needed a nap. Despite sleeping normal hours, she never slept well. She hated that. She hated taking pills every night before bed.

"Um, Rin?" She was jolted from her thoughts at the sound of her name, knowing it was Zach immediately.

Rin turned around, noticing Zach hovering by his locker. She sighed and walked up to him, wondering what made him so nervous.

"What's up, Zach?" She asked, peering up at her best friend.

"I wanted to say sorry about the list, it was really stupid. And, um, I know it's really early to ask you this but–" He shoved his hands into the pockets of his jacket, glancing at her as he rambled. His dark hair slightly fell into his face and he quickly ran his fingers through his hair as if pushing it back.

"Zach," she rolled her eyes at his nervous antics. She never knew Zach to be a nervous guy, come on, he was a star basketball player who could play in college. He was just that good and he knew it. He was a sweet individual who trusted her and that's why she liked him so much. "What's going on?"

He shifted his backpack on his shoulder, the strap slightly falling off his shoulder as he glanced around the busy hallway. He leaned in, biting his lip as he looked down at the small girl with raven hair.

"I was wondering if you would want to go to the school dance together."
