Chapter 6
By the end of fourth period, Kokoro was more than ready for a break. She just went through three classes that were all basically QnA. She had been pelted with questions from the students, about both the new addition of the class as well as personal life questions. She had learned the names of a lot of the students— and learned about the 'Big Three'. The students who were at the top of the hero course. She had only met two of them, Amajiki and Nejiri, the other she would meet tomorrow when teaching class 3-B.
Now, Kokoro was having lunch in the Teacher's Lounge. Since most of the teachers headed out for lunch or sat in their classrooms in case any of their students needed to ask them any questions the lounge was pretty much empty, leaving Kokoro to sit peacefully and watch the Sports Festival on her phone as she ate lunch. Since in the next class she had to teach she was going to be teaching 1-A how to fight and defend themselves without the use of their quirk she wanted to try to get a grasp on the base of their abilities.
It seemed as if some of the kids knew how to fight hand to hand, but their moves were sloppy and sure as hell wouldn't help them against any type of formidable opponent, much less an opponent that was using a quirk. All of the kids relied on their quirks to fight, which of course made sense since they were all relatively new to fighting in general.
Once she had finished watching the finals of the Sports Festival Kokoro started writing down plans for her defense class.
The students who seemed to have the most experience with combat without their quirk were Ashido Mina, Tsuyu Asui, Todoroki Shoto, Ojiro Mashirao, and Kirishima Eijiro. The rest of the students seemed to rely on their quirks a little too much. Bakugo Katsuki, for example. He was strong and could easily move around, but he relied too much on his explosions to get around and attack. Yaoyorozu Momo seemed to have a good head on her shoulders, yet she lacked the skills she needs to make quick decisions in the heat of battle limiting her to what she could do with her quirk and ultimately putting her at a disadvantage.
"Those are some detailed notes." A voice said and Kokoro looked up to see Aizawa looking over the notes she had completed.
"I like being prepared. Though they're not as detailed as I'd like them do be since the only knowledge I have on them is from the Sports Festival footage and what I've observed in class today. There are some students I don't know much about just yet. Oh, right! I wanted to ask you something."
Aizawa looked up from one of the papers he was holding in his hand. "Yeah?"
"Bakugo and Midoriya. Is there some kind of tension between them? Bakugo kept on scoffing and rolling his eyes whenever Midoriya would ask a question. Not to mention he would always tell Midoriya to shut up."
"I'm not surprised you picked up on that. The two of them went to the same middle school. I don't know much about it myself but from what I'm aware of is that Bakugo, to put it shortly, despises Midoriya. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go take a nap." With that he turned around, got into his sleeping bag, and laid down on the couch.
I had picked up on that much, but now I know they had somewhat of a past together. Kokoro thought, chewing on the tip of her pen. I'll figure out more in due time.

It was finally 6th period, the last class of the day and Kokoro's self defense class. She stood out in the training grounds beside All Might, who was going to be her supervisor for the period, besides, this class was technically part of Foundational Hero Studies, which All Might taught.
It didn't take long for the students to gather, all in their regular P.E uniforms. Kokoro herself had changed as well and was now wearing a pair of pastel blue sports shorts and a white tank top.
"Ms. Kowareta, what are you doing here?" A brunette, Uraraka, asked.
"Glad you asked! I'm not only going to be your Criminology teacher for the rest of the year but I will also teach you all how to fight without using your quirks!"
"And I'm here to make everything goes smoothly!" All Might exclaimed from beside her.
"Sorry, but isn't U.A's main focus to help us strengthen and develop our quirks to help us become strong pro heroes?" A boy with blond with a black lightning bolt through his hair, Kaminari, asked.
"While strengthening your quirk is a priority here, you all need to learn to fight without relying on your quirk." She placed a hand on her hip and looked at the class with a serious expression, "Sure, your quirks are useful in taking down the opponent, but if you rely too much on it you become powerless the moment you can't use it. Every quirk has it's drawbacks or limits, whether they're just an annoyance like nausea or life threatening like multiple broken bones. Even if you have a mutation quirk you're still limited with what you can do. That's where this class comes in. Since you're all only First Years I'm going to be teaching you hand to hand combat and the basics of the basics of weapon usage."
"Weapons? Like real weapons? Isn't that a little dangerous?" A voice coming from a floating uniform, Hagakure, asked.
"Don't worry. They're not going to be real. I wouldn't let beginners fight each other with real weapons, that's just stupid." Not to mention there's no way in hell U.A would allow me to get a hold of any real weapons. She added silently to herself.
"What about quirks? If this is a class focused on quirkless combat then are we even going to be able to use them?" A boy with spiky red hair, Kirishima, asked.
"Ah, great question! For this class, unless stated otherwise, the usage of quirks is prohibited." At those words, some of the kids in the class groaned, while others looked excited.
"The hell do you mean the usage of quirks is prohibited?!" An ash blond boy, Bakugo, shouted. He raised his hands and little explosions were set off in his hands. "We're here to improve our quirks how're we going to do that if it's fucking prohibited?!"
"Young Bakugo, please calm-." All Might started.
Kokoro lifted her hand to stop him from speaking, keeping a steady gaze on Bakugo. "Your concerns are valid, but I answered that question earlier. You can't always rely on your quirk. If you do that you're putting yourself at a disadvantage against the opponent."
"Hah! Don't make me laugh! I'm never at a disadvantage!"
"Really now? I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure I read about an incident with you involving some sort of slime villain. Or am I mistaken?"
Bakugo tensed up and he gritted his teeth. "You old hag!" He shouted, propelling himself straight towards Kokoro. All Might had started to move to stop the blond but Kokoro glanced at him and shook her head, causing him to stay where he was.
She had expected this to happen, since she had deliberately taunted him. She stayed right where she was with a focused look on her face as Bakugo sped closer towards her. The class shouted at Bakugo to stop but of course he didn't listen. The moment his outstretched hand was half a foot away from her face she shifted to the side and grabbed his arm, using his momentum to flip him over her shoulder and bring him to the ground. Though she didn't stop there. Keeping her hold on his arm she pinned him to the ground by digging one her knees into his lower back and using her other knee to balance herself and solidify her hold on Bakugo. For extra measure she bent his arm behind his back and faced his hand away from her. In just a few seconds Bakugo had been completely immobilized and his explosion and quirk control weakened.
Kokoro looked up at the shocked expressions of 1-A and gave them all a smile. "As you can all see from this demonstration, your quirk doesn't guarantee you a win even if it is strong." She got up and dusted herself off. "Thanks for being a volunteer, Bakugo! You may now go back and join your class."
Bakugo gritted his teeth and stood up, rubbing his lower back where Kokoro had dug her knee in, though he didn't have any snide comments to make as he headed back to join his classmates.
"Now, none of you will be able to preform that specific move right off the bat, but once I'm done with you all defending and attacking without the use of your quirk will be a piece of cake. Your moves will be precise and confident. You'll be unstoppable."

Up in the building, a certain tired teacher had watched as Kokoro took down Bakugo with ease.
"She's strong, isn't she, Eraser Head?" Nezu asked walking up to the hero.
"Stronger than she looks." Aizawa answered.
"That's one of the reasons as to why I choose her even if she was a villain. Despite her end goal of being a Forensic Scientist she had enrolled in a Training Academy and graduated top of her class. Ms. Kowareta is a highly capable individual despite her quirk not being good offensively. With everything that's happened this year we need to prepare our students more so than ever before."
Aizawa nodded, watching as Kowareta taught the students with All Might standing behind her doing nothing. That woman was much more than he originally thought she was. Though, he knew it always was illogical to judge a book by it's cover.
