I couldn't believe I had let Erin and Jeremy talk me into going to Blakes's home. I took a deep breath and knocked on her door with a bouquet. It swung open, and Blake stood in the doorway.

"Hey, Adam," she said.

"Hey, Blake," I half-smiled. I was a little nervous, hoping my hunger didn't kick in.

"I like your home," I said, staring at all the satanic symbols on the wall from the doorway.

"Do you want to come in?" She asked me, smiling.

"Sure, why not," I said. Blake moved from the doorway, and I followed her.

"Nanna, I have a friend over," she yelled.

Her grandmother yelled from the other room. "Alrighty. You two have fun."

"So, what are your plans for summer break?" she asked, ignoring her grandmother.

"Uh--"

"Are you a man of science or religion?" she asked another question, cocking her head to study me. "I've never seen you without your glasses until recently."

I gulped, my palms getting clammy. "I'm guessing it's a vampire thing?" I chuckled nervously, staring into her deep chocolate eyes. I almost didn't realize that she was staring back. She guided me into her bedroom. Tons of rabbits' feet and dream catchers hanging everywhere. We made intense eye contact.

"Have you ever thought about where we go when we die?" She asked me, patting the side of her bed for me to sit.

"Um... No, I haven't," I said.

"Have you ever thought about energy and how it shifts?"

"No," I said again.

Suddenly she ripped her glasses off, leaning toward me on the bed. "Has someone ever kissed you?"

"Well, you," I said hesitantly.

She leaned forward, her heavy breath meeting mine. She was so close our noses touched. Then she whispered, "Kiss me again, Adam." My lips locked with hers, soft and smooth against mine, without hesitation. She pushed me against the bed, locking me in place as we melted together.

I wrapped my arms around her spine and flipped her over until I was on top. She laid back, pulling me with her. We rolled around, trying to find the proper position, and suddenly my stomach growled, and my hunger pains returned. I tried to pull away from her, but she pulled me back on top of her, her lips brushing mine as my fangs grew.

My super senses kicked into high gear, and her blood's sweet and salty scent filled my nostrils. I craved it as if it was calling for me and wished I had my candy bars. My kisses traveled down her neck, feeling her smooth skin against my tongue, and suddenly, my fangs clamped down on her shoulder. I bit her, but she barely noticed.

Her blood tasted incredible, like a sweet sugar rush, and left a more energized feeling than the candy. I licked the blood from my lips before she could see it and restrained myself from taking too much as I pulled off her.

"Adam?" she called me.

"Yeah?" I asked, staring into her eyes.

"I don't feel good," she said, falling back on the mattress.

"I'm sorry. Would you like me to leave?" I asked her, feeling guilty.

"Yes. I'm sorry about this, Adam," she said. Except, I was the one that should have been sorry.

I rose from her bed and walked towards the door but turned back to check on her. "Adam," she called me, half asleep. "Take a rabbit's foot for protection," she mumbled. I looked at her collection of rabbits' feet on her desk and closed the one closest to the doorway.

"I'll call you later to ensure you're okay," I promised her.

"Okay," she said calmly before she finally drifted to sleep. I wandered over, pulled the cover off her warm body, and slid out of her bedroom.

"Demon boy," her grandmother called from the doorway. "Begone, demon."

"Yes, Ms. Andrews. I'm leaving," I said, my stomach growling again. Then I slipped out the front door.

"You bit her." Erin looked at me, surprised. He and I were sitting on my bed opposite one another.

"I know, I know. I messed up. I didn't have any candy, and her blood smelled so good. I couldn't help my craving."

"Damn straight, you fucking messed up," Erin growled. "She's a Wiccan. Part of the biggest Wiccan family in the world, but her kind is not immune to vampire bites like werewolves."

"Fuck," I cursed.

"Did she notice? Did you bite her on the neck?" he asked.

"Yeah, I carefully planned a stereotypical bite with a witch. What the fuck do you think?"

"She's a Wiccan! There's a difference," He growled, shifting on his mattress.

"Like what? Witches are ugly or something?"

"Something like that," He said. "Wait, were you two, like, you know, doing--"

"What do I look like? A walking sex God?"

"How much blood did you drink?" He asked.

"I don't know. I told Blake I would call her to check on her, and I'm not exactly sure how this vampire thing works. I don't know if it happens. We bite and take blood." I huffed, shifting sides. "Besides, she seemed fine when I left her."

"You better hope to whatever god out there you didn't turn her into a vampire," Erin exclaimed before chucking a chocolate bar at me. "Just in case you're still hungry." I caught it and ripped it open, taking a huge bite.

"You need a plan, so that doesn't happen again," Erin said. "Maybe you tell her you're sick and ghost her."

"I'm not ghosting her." I rolled my eyes. "I can always stuff my pockets with chocolate bars?" I shrugged.

"Sometime tomorrow, you should call Blake to check up on her. For now, my dad will kill us if he hears us still talking, so good night."

"Good night, Erin," I replied, yawning. Erin clapped his hands together, and the lights flickered out. "The clapper. It comes in handy." Erin said. Then he started snoring in command. I forgot he was a short sleeper. I fluffed the pillow and closed my eyes, hoping I didn't just fuck up with my high school crush. I wanted her to be okay. Being a vampire sucks, or it was more maintenance than being human, and that sucked too.
