Two girls close in age are walking down a sidewalk. Emma is obviously upset with her hands in her pockets. Taylor (her best friend) is next to her.

Emma: can you believe that they just set me up a job without asking me?!

Taylor: well at least now you have more money to spend. Why are you so upset anyway?

Emma: [exasperated] it's not the fact that I'm working it's were im working... They didn't ask if I wanted to be there and I don't even think that they care.

Taylor: Parents suck. But maybe they're testing your sense of responsibility. Some "this is how the real world is" crap

Emma stops and takes a deep breath. Taylor puts her hand on her shoulder

Emma: I guess. But at least if this were the real world I'd have a chance to pick where I work. They just hooked me up with some family connections.

Taylor: maybe your boss is someone your mom used to work with. She knows half the town.

Emma: yeah but in the real world I just wouldn't have a job handed to me. I'd have to work and then fail. Fail a lot actually

Taylor: probably. But In a career connections get you places.

Emma: so does working hard and learning.

The girls sit down on a bench.

Emma: so, are you gonna visit or what?

Taylor: I'll drop by every once in a while. I don't need my money being spent on gummy worms.

Emma: have you finally gotten your car running?

Taylor: Yep. The ac is still busted though *sighs* I went to Target yesterday and almost fainted walking up to the door it was so hot.

Emma: what'd you do when you got in the door?

Taylor: [in a joyful tone] I immediately went to the freezer section And held the ice cream door open.

The girls laugh. Emma looks at her phone then sighs.

Emma: welp. Gotta dash. I start at 2 tomorrow. [she hugs Taylor before putting up hey phone and leaving]

Taylor: see ya. [she waves and The girls go in opposite directions]
