㉞I Didn't Even Notice
Jungkook and Taehyung strolled along the street, heading towards the company with their hands interlocked.
They were one week away from Christmas vacation, and Jungkook was kind of bummed because he just started doing better in classes. The pain in his leg had diminished by a lot, and he could finally enjoy dancing, although he was exhausted by the long hours of practice.
During their saunter, Jungkook could pick up on Taehyung’s slightly weird behavior, as if something was on his mind. He decided not to question him about it, at least not yet, and placed a kiss on his cheek or lips every time his thoughts seemed to overtake him.
They soon walked into the changing room and greeted their friends. They changed their clothes over some small talk with them, and Jungkook neared Taehyung again. “You ready?”
“Not yet. You can go and I’ll catch up,” Taehyung smiled. He watched as Jungkook trod towards the exit and spun to face Yoongi, his eyes glittering in desperation. “Hyung, I have a problem.”
Yoongi’s brows knitted in a frown. “What’s wrong?”
“I don’t know what the fuck happened, but I just woke up, and I didn’t have electricity at home. I checked the fuse box and everything looked okay. If it’s a big problem, I can’t stay at my place anymore.”
“Slow down. You don’t know what’s wrong yet. Call someone after classes and then we’ll see.”
“But if it’s bad, can I stay at your place?”
“You know I live with my mother and our place is not that big, Taehyung-ah. You can stay at Namjoon.”
“Why would he stay with me?” Namjoon questioned.
“He lives like an hour and twenty minutes away from the company,” Taehyung whined, his face screwing into a pout. “I’m not going to do that to myself.”
“He has no electricity at home,” Yoongi informed.
“Wait, who doesn’t have electricity?” Jimin asked as he appeared with Seokjin and Hoseok.
“Taehyung,” Yoongi said.
“Oh, that sucks.” Jimin ruffled his hair with a sympathetic smile. “I would tell you to come to our house, but it’s already a little crowded since we’re two people.”
“Why don’t you go to Hoseok’s house?” Seokjin suggested.
“I live with my two sisters, hyung.”
“Yeah, he’s right. I can’t go there...”
Yoongi’s eyes squinted on him. “Why are we even talking about this? You can go to Jungkook’s place.”
As everyone agreed with nods, Taehyung sighed, lowering his head.
“Why that face?” Jimin asked, confused.
“Because... I don’t know. I don’t wanna scare him off or something. Maybe he wants his privacy.”
“Are you serious? You’re sleeping together almost every night. The only difference will be that your clothes will be at his apartment too,” Jimin snickered.
“What’s going on?” Jungkook asked as soon as he burst inside again. “What’s taking you guys so long? We have ten minutes left.”
“Taehyung doesn’t have electricity at home,” Yoongi said nonchalantly.
“What? What happened?”
“I don’t know,” Taehyung trailed off.
“So where are you going to stay?” Jungkook asked.
A moment of silence stretched between them that killed Jimin’s patience so effortlessly. “Well, you know, Namjoon lives pretty far away from here, we have no room, Yoongi doesn’t have room, Hoseok doesn’t have room...”
Jungkook seemed oblivious to the innuendos hiding beneath Jimin’s knowing tone. He crossed his arms as a little pout dragged the corner of his lips down. “What are you going to do?”
All eyes, filled with disbelief, rushed to him except Taehyung’s. “Kook, you’re the only person who has room. And he’s your boyfriend too,” Seokjin stated.
A titter exploded out of Jungkook’s chest as he ducked his head. “I know, but I didn’t think he wanted to... I didn’t know if it was okay to... I mean, maybe he didn’t—”
“Oh my God,” Yoongi growled as his frustration built so high it drowned him. “What’s wrong with you two? You’re basically already living together and you’re clearly enjoying it. Why are you torturing us?”
“Taehyung doesn’t spend so many nights at my apartment,” Jungkook murmured, but he pressed his lips together at the cackles that poured into the room at once from the other five boys.
“Jungkook, before you went to Busan, you guys were literally together all day and all night,” Jimin sneered.
Jungkook’s eyes enlarged a notch as he considered his words. He sent a row of glimpses at Taehyung. “Do we really spend so much time together? I didn’t even notice.”
“I know. Me neither,” Taehyung whispered, then he enclosed him into his embrace. “I guess time really flies when I’m with you.”
“I know, right? If we spent so much time together, why do I feel like I miss you all the time? Even right now when I hold you like this.” Jungkook squeezed him, making both chuckle. “I can’t get enough of you.”
“Because you guys are crazy for each other and delulu,” Jimin grinned and joined the hug the two boys were sharing.
“Me too, me too!” Hoseok said gleefully as he lunged forward, draping his arms around them.
“Yah, don’t forget your hyung,” Seokjin said in a singsong voice and nestled against them.
“Well, if you’re being like this…” Namjoon shrugged before joining as well.
Everyone turned to look at Yoongi, who was standing there with his arms crossed and staring back at them.
“Come on, Yoon,” Seokjin said as he beckoned him, but the other only shook his head.
“Come on, hyung,” Jungkook and whined, pouting.
Yoongi released a tsk sound with an eye roll, but eventually, he joined the group hug too.
“What are you guys doing? We have like three minutes left,” another trainee informed, and they jolted away, murmuring some curses, as they scuttled towards the classroom.
Eunhyuk soon entered as well and said a stern good morning without even raising his head. Although he was never that warm like Jihoon and rarely smiled, something seemed different this time.
Jungkook observed him with a frown carved on his features as Eunhyuk pulled his laptop out of his bag. There was a prominent scowl clutching his face and a ferocity guiding his every move. “Why is he like that?” he whispered to Taehyung, who was standing next to him.
“I have no idea. But I have a feeling this class will be pure hell.”
And Taehyung was absolutely right. Throughout the class, he scolded every single one of them whenever he got a chance.
“Stay on the beat guys, come on!”
“Is this what I showed? Stop doing your own things and focus!”
“I showed this part four times! What is the matter with you?”
“Okay, what the fuck? What’s his problem?” Taehyung whispered to the younger through his panting.
“I know, right? I’ve never seen him like this. I mean, he was always somewhat rude, but—”
“Don’t talk in my class, Jungkook! Focus,” Eunhyuk snarled, casting him a glare.
“I’m sorry.”
After what felt like a torturous eternity but it was only one hour and thirty minutes, the class was finally over. Eunhyuk didn’t say another word; he walked towards his desk and started collecting his things.
And Jungkook couldn’t bear that itch in his gut anymore. He stormed towards him on impulse and stood in front of him. “Why are you so grumpy?”
Eunhyuk’s movements halted, then he shot his furious eyes at him. “What? Don’t talk to me like that. I’m your—”
“No, no, don’t give me that ‘I’m your teacher’ excuses.” Jungkook crossed his arms over his chest, staring him down. “Especially not after you started gossiping and joking around with me. Clearly, something has pissed you off. And where is Mr. Jung? I didn’t see him at all.”
A long sigh slipped out of Eunhyuk’s mouth as he stuffed his laptop in his bag. “Jihoon isn’t here because he decided to go to a stupid festival suddenly with that stupid ass—I mean, with Kyuhyun.”
“Wow, name-calling your fellow? Really?” Jungkook snickered. “What festival, though?”
“I don’t know, and I don’t care. I only know that Jihoon will teach a class and that ass—damn, I mean Kyuhyun will sing or whatever.”
“And that upsets you because...?” Jungkook raised his brows, waiting for him to explain his bizarre behavior.
“It doesn’t upset me. I’m not upset,” Eunhyuk rushed to say.
Jungkook snorted. “Why didn’t you go with them?”
Eunhyuk fixed him with a bored look, contempt pouring from his eyes. “Hmm, why didn’t I go with them? That’s a good question. Because I have classes to teach, Jungkook! And cover for Jihoon’s classes too!”
“So grumpy. Jeez,” Jungkook murmured with a grimace.
“Oh, yeah, what’s wrong with you?” Taehyung asked as he wrapped an arm around Jungkook’s shoulders.
Eunhyuk sighed for the nth time, completely defeated. “I can’t with you two, seriously.” He pivoted on his heel and marched off.
“Come on, Eunhyuk-ssi!” Jungkook chuckled as they hurried behind him.
The teacher spun around, eyes wide in vexed surprise. “Eun—Eunhyuk-ssi? Ssi? I’m Mr. Lee to you!”
“Oh. We’re not there yet, huh?” Jungkook tittered, scratching the back of his head.
Eunhyuk’s vicious glare was answer enough, and he stormed off again. It was only seconds later when he stopped abruptly, causing the two boys to bump into him. “Why are you following me, exactly?”
“Clearly you’re upset because Mr. Jung went with Mr. Cho to that festival and—”
“Wait, that’s why you were such an as—I mean, that’s why you were so grumpy?” Taehyung clamped his teeth into his lower lip at his blunder.
“Stop talking to me about my love life,” Eunhyuk blurted out, but he regretted it instantly at the shock that burst onto their faces.
“So you admit that Mr. Jung is a part of your love life!” Jungkook chirped, and if glares could kill, he would be dead by now.
“Leave. Me. Alone.”
“Okay, okay, we’ll shut up,” Taehyung snickered, raising his hands defensively. “But look, since Mr. Jung isn’t here, you’re more than welcome to come to our table at lunch.”
“Why would I eat with you?”
“Why wouldn’t you?” Jungkook asked with a shrug. “We know you don’t get along with the other teachers that much, anyway.”
“And I get along with you two? You only cause problems. I hate you guys.”
“No, you don’t, you loooove us,” Taehyung said teasingly, a grin decorating his lips.
Eunhyuk made a tsk sound and shook his head, irritated. “Your next class starts in five minutes. Get out of my sight.”
The two chortled as Taehyung draped his arm around Jungkook’s shoulders, pulling him against his body. “Think about it.”
. . .
The seven boys changed their clothes once more after their second class, which wasn’t that different with Eunhyuk’s bad-tempered mood, and headed towards the cafeteria. They filled their trays with delicious food and sat all together at their usual table.
“What the hell is going on with Eunhyuk? He was literally the devil,” Jimin said.
“Leave him alone. He’s in love,” Taehyung chuckled.
“What? With who?” Seokjin asked.
“He’s just grumpy because Jihoon went to a festival with Kyuhyun, and he couldn’t go because he had classes,” Jungkook informed.
“Oh, Eunhyuk is jelly,” Jimin sneered, and everyone broke into cackles.
“What is jelly?”
The seven boys snapped their head to Eunhyuk, who just popped up in front of them, holding a tray in his hands and staring at them with a notion of confusion mixed with awkwardness.
“You came!” Jungkook said in surprise as he didn’t think Eunhyuk would actually join them. “Here, sit.” He retrieved a chair from the adjacent table and placed it beside him.
“Thanks,” Eunhyuk murmured as he took his seat. “So what is jelly?”
“What?” Taehyung asked, trying to buy some time for someone to come up with something smart.
“You said I’m jelly. What is jelly?”
“We didn’t say that,” Seokjin tittered.
“Well, you didn’t, but you certainly did.” He pointed with his head towards Jimin and fixed him with a drilling stare.
“Jelly is slang for grumpy,” Jungkook tossed off, maintaining a straight face.
As the other boys exerted themselves not to burst into laughter, Eunhyuk gave him a suspicious look, but decided to drop it.
They made some casual small talk with their teacher, and although he was still grumpy, he was a good company. He even smiled a little when Jungkook and Taehyung bickered about his choreography, whether it was faster than the previous one. It was rather amusing and Eunhyuk enjoyed the scene greatly, but he ended their childish conversation, saying it was about the same speed as the previous one.
. . .
Jungkook and Taehyung sat on the couch of the latter’s apartment, as the technician he called inspected everything.
“We need to change the whole fuse box and all the wires. I can’t tell what caused the damage, but it’ll take a while to do all that. I’ll come tomorrow with my crew around ten. Is that okay?”
“Well, I have classes, and I can’t be here. Can I just give you the keys and do whatever needs to be done?”
“Of course.”
“Thank you.”
Taehyung packed a bag with clothes and the necessary things, and soon the two headed towards Jungkook’s apartment.
“Are you sure you’re okay with this?” Taehyung asked warily.
“Of course, Tae. I’m a little excited, to be honest.”
“Me too.” Taehyung beamed as he curled his arm around his waist, gazing at his baby with ultimate fondness.
