Chapter 8: test of skills, Kari Mizuno VS. Roy Mustang

Kari’s p.o.v

Well it has been about three days since I got to central HQ and the time has come for the “test”. I don’t know what kind of test it is but I hate tests and don’t care WHAT kind of test it is I know I will hate it…

‘Sigh I hate tests!!’ I thought as I turned the corner. Ed was there in front of a door and smiled when he saw me turn down the hall way.

“Good luck… here these are for you…” he handed me a pair of blue finger less gloves, I took them and smiled and said

“Thank you” I smiled and asked Ed

“What kind of test is this??” I looked Ed and he replied

“it is an ‘alchemy fight’… it is where you and another alchemist here fight to see if the opponent can join HQ…” Ed looked at me and said “j-just be careful ok?!” I smiled and told him

“Don’t worry I’ll be fine!” I smiled and went off through the door. I gasped to see who my opponent was

“R-Roy Mustang?!!!” i shouted in shock. he looked over and smiled that soon faded as a man with brown hair and glasses raced up

"Hi! You must be Kari Mizuno! My name is Maes Hughes!!" he whipped out a picture from his pocket "THIS is my daughter Elisa! --------" and blah, blah, blah!!! I ignored the whole thing and PRETENDED to listen to him

'MAN, humans’ sure love to gossip about their families!!!!' I thought. Soon Maes stopped talking about his daughter and said

"so, today you will have your skills tested... since you know Yuuki the Water alchemist we asked her some questions and well," he paused for effect "we are going to see what you can do on the battle field!"

 “Sure!! This will be FUN!!!!” I grinned as my blood red eyes flashed at my opponent. I stepped up facing Roy and Maes told us the rules.

“Now,” he began to run away I looked at him confused “ON YOUR MARK GET SET GO!!!!!” I heard him say and looked back at Roy who looked SO smug

“Too slow!” he said as fire surrounded me

“NOT TODAY THANKS!!!” I yelled as I redirected his fire right back at him. But he dodged and looked at me

“You just-“he began but I was NOT going to go easy! I raced toward him faster than the speed of sound and then. INSTINCT!! The earth shifted for some reason… as if trying to tell me something. I did as told and swerved to the right and then left in a zigzag movement and kept doing so. Next I stopped about four feet away from Roy clapped my hands together and thought of a Hiraikotsu. When I lifted my hands from the ground my Hiraikotsu appeared and I threw it toward Roy. He tried to stop it with his fire but I was prepared for that I put a piece of paper on it that read “fire barrier” on it so it would not be affected. I also called forth a pair of katana to the show. One I called dark and the other light. As I slashed dark (OMG DARK!!!!) a fortress of dark ‘claws’ went toward Roy, and the same with light, But with light ‘claws’. I also called forth my other elemental weapons to the party. Apparently Roy was not gonna give up so I tried a different approach.

“I see you are not going to give up” I smiled.

“You ARE tough I’ll give you THAT much!” he said as he got up, and while doing so I got ready for the finishing blow

‘Let’s see how he deals with THIS!!’ I clapped and held my hands in a circular shape in front of my black ribbon bell.

“LETS SEE IF YOU GET THROUGH THIS!!!” I started to chant words that only Yuuki and I could understand. And before you knew it I had won!!!! I saw Ed, Al and Yuuki look at me stunned as I walked up

“Did I go over board?” I asked. They looked at each other and exchanged looks then replied all at once

“No!” we all laughed and laughed and soon Roy came up to me and said

“Congrats, you have passed the Alchemy test. I’ll have to tell the furor about this...” Roy thought to himself for a moment then a woman with blond hair came up and said

“Hello. I am Riza Hawkeye, I will be working with you from now on. As well as fullmetal, Alphonse and Water. I hope I will be of good service.” She smiled and called some other State Military people over Jean Havoc, Kain Fuery, Denny Brosh and Maria Ross. All of which were very nice and helpful on telling me about the place where I would be staying. Later that night Hawkeye showed me my official room

“Mrs. Riza-“I started but was interrupted

“Please, call me Hawkeye” she told me

“Ok, Hawkeye… what did I do… with the ground and stuff… was THAT alchemy?” she looked at me shocked

“Yes… it was” she smiled and asked

“Was that your first time using alchemy?”

“Yup!” I smiled and said “I’m glad I got to be here.” I thanked Hawkeye for showing me my room and went to bed with many thought circling my head about the next day.

Kari: SHUT UP HE WAS ASKING FOR IT!!!

Ed: if you ask me he is sort-of a perv!

Al: yup…

Roy: I AM NOT!!!

Kate: hahahaha!!! I’ll stop us there! Hope you liked Roy getting beat up by Kari-

Kari: ha-ha! I won! You perv!

Roy: YOU’RE DEAD!!!
