CHAPTER 1

-In Sanders Isles-

Thomas leaned over the table, looking down at the map. He was joined with his royal advisor, Logan, head of royal guard, Patton, and his son and heir to his throne, Roman.

"I would like to suggest we send a small troop out at evening, along with one of our smaller dragons to negotiate a peace, or negotiate a time and a place. Whichever way it goes. I also believe it is only fitting for Roman to lead this peace committee," Logan told his king.

Thomas stared at him. "Send my only son and heir to my throne into enemy territory? An enemy camp? Preposterous." Roman opened his mouth to protest before Patton spoke. This was... for the better.

"Sir, he is more than ready to lead this on his own. Along with that, this could be his chance to prove himself, not only to you, but to the kingdom."

Logan nodded in agreement, causing Thomas to sigh. "Very well. Roman, compose a team of ten men to accompany with you to The Cove of Lies."

Roman smiles happily. "I won't disappoint you, sir."

Thomas nodded at his son. "I am putting my trust in you. Be safe." He gathered his papers. "Meeting adjourned."

-Meanwhile in The Cove of Lies-

Deceit smirked at his Duke, dismissing his eavesdropping spell. "It seems Prince Roman will be making a guest appearance tomorrow, dearest. It will be so hard to go forth with our little revenge plan."

Remus grinned at Deceit from the other's lap.

Virgil, listening from the other side on guard shift, tensed and stifled his gasp. He's fallen for a certain prince of Sanders Isles, much to his friend's discontent. He took a shaky breath, forming his plan.

After his shift, he slipped into black leggings, a ripped purple shirt, and his hoodie.

He slipped out of the camp with his sack of stuff and made his way to the enemy's castle.

But he got lost and the next evening came quick. Virgil knew he wouldn't get there in time.

And he was right.

He heard the prince and is ten men walk past him. When they passed, he fell to his knees, crying.

Roman would be corrupted. And it was all his fault.
