Description is like the duck tape for writing. It can fix just about anything but too much is horrible. Description could be given through dialogue, detail, character's thoughts, or just the setting. I personally like it when authors find a unique way to give out detail. There are some authors who never use an -ly word or say the name of a color at all and that's exactly what you are going to do!
