"Another Headnannon"- published April 21, 2015
So in a lot of my
early works, I would
do this thing where
I would not only leave
way too much space between
paragraphs, but I'd
also start each
chapter so far down the
page that you'd have to
physically scroll down to find
the beginning of the
paragraph.
After Johnny came out of the closet, the gang became very protective of him.
Why? I mean, I get
that he's their baby puppy
and all, but does the
gang hold no homophobic
prejudices? In the 60s?
Come on baby CC.
Think things through.
Especially Dally.
A little context
that'll make this part
make a little bit
of sense: I shipped
Dally and Johnny
together.
One time, when Dally and Johnny were walking in the park, a few socs come up to them and flick out their blades.
Love how it has to be
the socs. Because as
we all know, only rich
people are homophobic.
One snarled, 'kill yourself, faggot. Or maybe well do it for you.'
So these socs flicked
out their blades to get
Johnny to kill himself,
and then decide they
want to kill him themselves?
That's how it sounds.
Also, the whole point
of the book was to show
how much the socs hated the
greasers, yet one
greaser being gay makes them
forget all about that?
No "greaser f*gg*t"?
Just "f*gg*t?"
As if it no longer matters that
Johnny is a greaser?
Dally confronted them and instructed Johnny to leave.
So um... why does
Johnny need to leave?
That just makes him look
weak, and we know
that's not true. The book
clearly establishes that
Johnny can hold his
own in a fight. He just
doesn't like fighting.
There's a difference.
Needless to say, those socs bathed in their own blood that day.
If you don't need
to say it, don't.
