The truth

Hailey came closer to Amy and gasped "Thalia, her neck. She's been bit".

At this point Thalia didn't know what to do or say, she didn't even know how she could control herself while the smell of human blood was hitting her nostrils so hard. Hailey frowned raising an eyebrow at her friend "Would you please help me? Do you want her to turn into a vampire?"

"No of course I don't but I don't know what to do!"

"Thalia, you're a healer did you forget that? Just come over her and heal her already for fuck's sake!"

Thalia stood in front of Amy taking a deep breath in before sitting on one knee and looking at her wound. She wasn't really sure what she was doing, it's not like she had a 'how to use manual' but she had to tried. She rested her hand on her friend's neck focusing on healing the wound instead of the blood that was already making her salivating. It only took her seconds to see the wound disappear, she sighed in relief and went quickly to wash her hands while Hailey cleaned Amy's neck. She was now passed out on the couch.

Both girls have been staring at Amy for a couple hours now "Do you think it worked?" Thalia was restless, Amy didn't deserve this.

"It worked with Nate, you are a healer so I think it worked"

"Who did this to her? You think Liam is back to town? Karly was still held by the council and James... no he wouldn't."

"Should we call Mason and Nathaniel?"

"No, let them rest. We'll figure this out on our own. We'll have to wait until she wakes up."

"Were you able to learn more things about you know... who sent out your pictures?"

"No I haven't thought about that at all lately to be honest. Everything that happened with Nathaniel I just put it in the back on my mind. But now we can start working on that again" she said looking at Amy thoughtfully.

"What are you thinking?"

"I think she's the key to everything, she could help me. But maybe she needs to know the truth first."

"You're not thinking straight. Know the truth after a vampire did this to her? She'll never help you she'll be scared"

Amy stirred and sat up looking at them both "My neck" her hand went to her neck but there was nothing there "What... how?"

Thalia smiled at her and sat next to her taking Amy's hand in hers "What happened to you Amy?"

"I thought... but no it really happened I came here as fast as I could because I was coming to see you anyway, I just can't remember why I was coming to see you. It's like I remember but I can't talk about it"

Hailey and Thalia exchanged a knowing look and Thalia knew what she had to do. "I'll help you remember but first tell me what happened? Who attacked you?"

"Karly, she attacked me, but it wasn't really her. Her eyes were different, she was completely different and she was a vampire. Oh I know I sound silly but she's the one that bit me. If it wasn't for James" her eyes grew wide "James is vampire too! He fended her off me and they were fighting when I ran as fast as I could and came here. I knew I should come here but I don't remember why" she started crying "Did I just have a bad dream and none of that really happened?"

Thalia smiled sympathetically to her friend "I'm sorry Amy, it wasn't a bad dream, you really lived it. It really happened, I helped you with the wound and now I'll help you open up your mind to me."

She stood up briskly "If I lived it, it means vampires are real Thalia! They don't they just don't!"

"They do. Witches, werewolves, vampires... they all do" Hailey said impatiently "I'm a witch, Thalia is a vampire, and your friends James and Karly are vampires too." She rolled her eyes "Now enough beating around the bushes. She could see Amy was confused and didn't believe her but she just wanted one night drama free. "Come on Thalia, you know what to do"

Thalia nodded and held her friend's face in her hands "We are real, vampires, werewolves, witches and many other creatures. But you are not afraid of us, you are a strong woman, you believe it and you're not scared. You trust me, we are friends." Amy nodded to Thalia as she was being compelled. "Now, you were coming to see me, you had something very important you needed to tell me. Can you remember?" she shook her head unable to tell her anything "do you want to tell me?" Amy nodded "Alright. You are going to close your eyes and think about what you came to tell me, is there something like a barrier?" when Amy nodded again "alright I want you to walk to that barrier, and push it open"

"It's not budging, I'm not strong enough I'm sorry"

"Don't open your eyes, push harder, imaging your mom behind it and you need to free her. You are strong Amy, you can do it, push it"

"It's moving"

"Great keep going and don't open your eyes"

"I lifted it I remember!" she opened her eyes and instantly hugged Thalia "Oh my god I'm so sorry, I remember what I came to tell you. You won't believe it"

"Tell me Amy, what is it?"

"The night of the prom, you left and Karly and James were kissing in the car on our way back. His phone fell from his pocket, next day the limo driver came to see Karly's mom, he gave her the phone and she...she's the one that sent your pictures to the whole school. She's also the one that kept harassing you and sending you emails and messages. I was going to check on Karly and I heard them, her mother was telling her everything. She was yelling at her for not going to school after all she did for her, I don't think Karly knew it was her mother but she didn't care. Then they saw me and karly did something to me so I couldn't tell you. But I was still coming to your house and that's when she attacked me. If it wasn't for James I probably would have ended up dead".

Thalia was crying her eyes out by now, her best friend's mom, ruined her life so her daughter could be more popular and could be captain of the lacrosse team. How is that even logical? It's such a stupid reason that it made Thalia angry, no so furious that she wanted to kill that woman for destroying her life like that. Amy hugged Thalia again "I'm so sorry Thalia I'm sorry I couldn't protect you and be there for you". Even Hailey was crying now, it was absurd, no grown up should be capable of hurting a teen just for popularity at school.

Thalia pulled away "I need to tell Nate, thank you Amy, you were of great help. It's over, now we know who did this to me" she looked at Hailey "Don't worry I'm not killing anyone yet, but can you keep an eye on her? I don't want Karly to hurt her again".

"Sure thing don't worry"

"Thanks Hails, you're the best" She quickly went to her room to change her clothes and went to see Nathaniel. She ran at vampire speed so it didn't take her long to reach his mansion. She walked through the gates constantly looking behind her back as she felt someone was following her. She saw Hunter pacing back and forth as he spoke on the phone, he seemed annoyed.

"What do you mean she escaped? How is that even possible? No one ever escaped the council's prison! You need to find her Brandon or there will be consequences!" he hung up and looked at Thalia questioningly "I thought you were having a girl's night. Couldn't stay away from my brother huh?"

She rolled her eyes and shoved him to the side "Karly escaped?"

"How did you know I was talking about her?"

"She bit my friend. James saved her and I healed her, but I'm not sure what happened to James."

"We'll find her. I just can't fathom how she escaped the council"

"Maybe she had help"

"Liam, you son of a bitch! Of course he'd let her out I'm going to kill him!"

Nathaniel walked out and hugged his mate "Are you okay?" when she nodded he turned his attention to his brother "No, we're not killing him. We'll report him."

"We have no proof of that brother, you know how the council react to false allegations"

"You know people. I'm sure you have your own inside that palace" he saw his brother smirk "Well use that. Pull up security cameras, anything that could relate to Liam. We need him off the street once and for all". Hunter nodded knowingly as he walked away from the hugging couple to make a few phone calls and see what he can do about Liam.

"Nate, I know the truth"

"What truth baby"

"My pictures... I know who sent them"

He took her hand in his "Who did? Was it Karly?"

"Worse, it was her mom. Karly and I have always been competing over things, not because I wanted to but because I always was first in everything and she hated it. Even at school, she hated that I was popular yet friends with everyone and never bullied anyone. She hated the fact that I was captain of the lacrosse team, she hated that James was my boyfriend, she hated that random people would make me gift because I was nice to them... She always wanted what I had. So I think her mom though ruining my reputation, she would be helping her daughter. She never thought I would end my life. I don't think she was that cruel"

"You know she can go to prison for that right? You're a minor."

"But we need evidence don't we?"

"We'll get that evidence. When is your mom coming back?"

"She'll be home tomorrow morning why?"

"Because you're dead. She has to be the one pressing charges. I'll go with her tomorrow to Karly's house, and I'll compel her to tell the truth while we record it. Then I'll go to the police station with your mom so she can press charges."

Thalia nodded "Yeah that could work, but what if it breaks my mom in the process? She just got her life back, she's happy again"

"She is, and I'll make sure she stays happy, don't worry" he winked at her making her smile.

They both went inside and she called Hailey letting her know she'll be back in the morning. The next day, her mother got home before she did and found Hailey and Amy passed out on the couch. She smiled and woke them up gently "Let's make breakfast together what do you think"

Amy stretched and nodded getting up while Hailey went back to sleep. She felt tired after everything that happened this week. It wasn't long after that Nathaniel and Thalia walked inside the house. Thalia ran to her mother hugging her tightly telling her how much she missed her and was happy to have her home again. Nathaniel hugged her too and welcomed her. They spent breakfast listening to Eva Thunders telling them how her vacation was and how happy she was with her new boyfriend, they were even planning their wedding. Thalia was happy for her, and was all giddy about her mother getting married again.

"Eva, I have a request"

"Yes Nathaniel?"

"Would you go with me see Karly's mom? I need to ask her something and since you know her I won't be feeling all awkward having you there"

"Yes of course, when did you want to go? She's just across the street"

"We could go now?"

"Sure come on let's go, the girls will clean up" she grinned and walked out with Nate.

Nate had already started the recorder as they knocked on her door.

"Eva?"

"Hello veronica, this is Nate, Tatianna's boyfriend. He says he wants to ask you something"

The woman was skeptical at first but she ventually let them in.

"Are you the one who sent Thalia's pictures to her peers?" he asked her bluntly without beating around the bush.

"What? Are you crazy? Thalia was like a daughter to me, I would never have done something like that"

"Nathaniel what is this about?" Eva asked

"Ask her Eva, she's the one that did it I assure you of it"

"Lies! I have not! Get the hell out of my house before I call the cops"

"Oh I'll be the one calling the cops trust me. I know you did it, we heard you and your daughter talking about it, just admit it"

They faught back and forth for a while until Nate thought it was the right time to get that confession out of her. He held her gaze "tell me the truth"

She felt numb, as if she wanted to lie but couldn't "I sent those pictures" she fell to the floor sobbing "Eva I never knew she would commit suicide, she was always the strong one, never thought she would die because of this... I'm"

Eva didn't let her finish she pulled her up and slapped her hard across the cheek "I hope you rot in hell you murdered! You killed my innocent child, I won't let you get away with it! You'll be thrown into a cell and no one will even come visit you!"

Eva called the cops immediately not wasting any time. Soon the police took Veronica and Eva went with them to testify. She was so happy when Nate gave her the record, that would be proof enough.

A few days later Karly's mom was convicted and faced jail time. Hunter had found Karly and she was locked in the council prison without food. It was a slow death.

They had removed Liam from the council and locked him up with Karly as well. As for James, he went to the council academy in order to become a vampire guard.

"Too much happened in just two days" Hailey said to Thalia as they walked to the graveyard following Eva. They stopped at Thalia's grave.

Eva looked up at her daughter "Do you think your sister has peace right now?"

"Yes mom, Thalia is at peace now" she smiled warmly as they held hands and were soon joined by Nathaniel and Mason.
