It's been two days since she was buried. Thalia woke up in her grave and managed to get out of it. She could feel something was different about her; she had changed in many ways. She felt stronger, faster and smarter. She noticed she could think of many things at once.

She was clever enough to rearrange the dirt of her grave so no one would notice she was out and alive. This is the beginning of a new life; Thalia Thunders have to go through alone with a heart full of regret and longing for revenge. She came out of it a stronger person. Gone was the sensitive and naïve girl everyone knew

When she reached the woods, she looked around making sure no one was there, she wanted to be alone. Thalia ignored why or how she was still alive, she had ended her life herself, and she wasn't about to let anyone know she's alive before knowing what really happened, that's for sure.

Lost in thoughts, she bumped into a bulky and tall tree, muttering and cursing under her breath she looked at the relief in front of her and a smile formed on her lips. She had a feeling she could actually climb it easily; she tried it and noticed that in fact it wasn't difficult for her to reach the highest branch. The view from there was breath taking.

Amazed by what she had just done, she wanted to know more of her body and jumped down landing on three without a scratch.

"Wow that was a surprise" she giggled.

Thalia started running only seeing a blur of racing trees, which meant she was running at great speed. She stopped and lay on the grass thinking she was going to be out of breath but to her surprise, she wasn't. Unable to process the new powers of her body, a heavy sigh left her chest as if she was bearing a heavy burden.

The night was serene and peaceful, full of shiny stars, Thalia felt it filled with magic and it gave her a feeling of safety and calmness, but her feelings were interrupted by a cry that came from her lungs. Her throat was burning her. No, it's more appropriate to say that it was on fire. She couldn't see, think, or even hear right. She thought she was dying again.

Before closing her eyes to rest, she caught sight of a deer eating not too far from her; she smiled at its beauty and wished she could touch the creature before departing this world for good. In a blink of an eye, she found herself on the deer. She thought she was dreaming and started petting it; but soon enough, the predator's instinct within her took over. Her canines grew bigger and she sank them in the tender neck of her prey loving the taste of its blood. Thalia felt it fill her lungs and give her a sense of power.

A few hours later, she woke up near a pond; she tried to remember how she got here and thought about all deers that she killed tonight, it frustrated her.

She heard the sound of the water and got on her feet slowly walking to the pond, afraid of what she might see. She leaned over and watched her reflection in the water; she still had the same small nose and voluptuous lips with a slight difference. They were red like a rose. She noticed that her eye colors had changed. They were now the color of an emerald stone. She touched her cheek lightly seeing how pale she looked but was still beautiful. She realized what she had become.

"I thought I was going to look like a devil or a monster...the legend is true than! Vampires are gorgeous." Thalia couldn't believe what happened to her.

Hearing a branch crack, she looked up and saw it flying at her. She instantly jumped to the other side of the pond, looking at the tree trying to see what happened.

"I'm glad you developed your reflexes already! That's good but not good enough. You should have heard me come".

She was startled as she heard those words, this voice was familiar she just couldn't remember it. Thalia focused a bit and spotted him on another tree.

"I'm sorry I'll do better next time. Now show yourself ". She said with an authoritative voice and menacing eyes. The man landed just behind her and she turned to face him. She was amazed by his beauty, his sapphire eyes were piercing and enchanting, and his lips were so...

"I wasn't aware of the amount of venom I had given you while drinking from you" his words broke through her thoughts she shook her head and sat on a rock.

"What do you mean?" she asked him trying to remember.

He smiled sexily leaning on the tree trunk.

"A week ago, I was in town and my throat burned. I don't usually drink human blood but I had no choice. I saw you're room lit so I went to pay you a visit. Of course, you panicked at first but I calmed you with my voice and fed on you. I must have been thirsty and ejected more venom than I should have. When you died the venom was at work, and it changed all your cells as well as your whole mechanism. "

Thalia just looked at him unable to form words, she got lost in thoughts for a moment before speaking up again with a shaky voice.

"I didn't want to come back! I didn't want to go back to that stupid school! They were all so cruel! And James..."

The vampire cut her sentence "James who?"

She felt a tear slid down her cheek "my stupid boyfriend! They were all so mean they made me do this I was alone! I couldn't take it and I didn't want my mom to find out ..."

He came closer to her and wiped her tears, he was about to take her in his arms but she jerked his hand away.

"Stop that! I don't need your pity! I don't know you! I don't even know your name!"

He stepped back and looked at her smiling "you can call me Nathaniel, Nathan, or Nate. You are free to choose, and trust me. You will get to know me since you have no one else now".

She shook her head "I've been alone for a long time I don't need your help" she stood up and started walking away as the sun was rising. Nathaniel looked at her as she left, knowing that she will come back for him, he knew he had a big influence on girls.

When she was out of sight, Nathaniel took another path; he didn't know where she was going and for now he couldn't care less, he had something to do. He had hunted last night and he smelled bloody, he needed to take a shower before doing what was on his mind. He walked slowly, as he was in no rush but he eventually reached his house. It was at the far end of the woods; no one went there because of the lions he got from Africa and freed around his property.

He took a hot shower and went to get dressed; he was all in black with the two first buttons of his shirt undone. The powerful vampire was really handsome with his hard features, no girl usually resisted him and that turned him into a cocky man. Once ready, he went out and took his red porch. He drove to Thalia's former school and was there in a few minutes. Nate parked the car and waited for the students to show up when he spotted a girl who seemed really shy and looked like a loner.

She would be perfect, he thought walking toward the girl who seemed very geeky. He wanted to know Thalia's story so once he reached the girl, he worked out his charm on her to see what he could get from her. A few minutes later, he walked back to his car satisfied.

The first place Thalia thought of was home. She went to her house needing to take some of her stuff before her mom give them away, but she couldn't come in; she tried and tried but just couldn't. She sat on the roof thinking of a way to go inside when she noticed the chimney and instantly jumped through it. She sneaked into her room and stuffed one of her vacation stroller with the essentials: clothes, make up (even if she didn't really need it), her toothbrush and her diary. She managed to slip out before her mom could wake up and was able to hide them in the woods in a groove she found next to the pond. Thalia was reading her painful diaries when she decided to go to school and see how her "so-called- friends" were doing. She hid in a tree when she got there and spotted James with Karly, the girl who was always trying to get his attention.

"Looks like she succeeded" she muttered under her breath.

"Succeed in what?"

Nathaniel who was now on the branch next to her startled Thalia. She was about to fall when he caught her and helped her to sit back.

"What the hell are you doing here? I told you I don't need your help!" she whisper hissed so no one would hear her.

He just laughed "yeah right, I can see that you weren't about to fall and blow your cover".

She sighed " I was just spying a bit, they look happy as if I never existed" she said looking at James and felt her heart hurting and burning.

Nathaniel saw how sad she was and took her hand, before she could protest he had teleported them to Italy.

Feeling a bit dizzy, Thalia clung to him until she felt better and looked around amazed.

"Wow I really don't know what to say! How did you do that?" she asked not believing her eyes.

"You need time and trust me, you'll be able to do lot of things since you have a part of me in you now." he said softly.

She smiled and was about to speak when she saw a beautiful fountain in front a huge church.

"This is the fountain of love, you have to throw a coin in it and make a wish" he handed her a coin knowing she had nothing.

She took it hesitantly and walked to the fountain, Thalia felt tears welling in her eyes but she regained herself, closed her eyes and wished that her mom wouldn't be hurting and would find great love since she's been alone for too long now.

"Come on let's walk around town, Italy is one of the most romantic places in the world I'm sure you'll like it".

She stopped and stared at him "I don't need romance right now, I need to go back I want to go home and see my mom please take me back home" she asked him gently and pleadingly.

Nathaniel only shook his head he was a stubborn man and took her hand walking toward town.

"I insist you see the magic of this country" he was partly dragging her but she eventually stopped fighting and walked with him.

They both walked silently their fingers still tangled together, contemplating the beautiful scenery around them. Thalia looked up at him.

"Why are you so nice to me?"

She asked curiously, as she wasn't used anymore to have anyone caring for her. Nathaniel stopped walking and looked at her letting go of her hand.

"I'm nice to you simply because I want you to forget about your dark days, I've given you the chance to live your life differently, it's another start, I want you to be happy and I know that you might go your own way but as your creator I have to guide you for the first part of your life".

Thalia was motionless she didn't know how to act and what to say, she put her face in her hands than turned from him walking away.

Walking alone made her realize how much her senses were heightened, she could hear people talking, laughing when they were a far distance from her, but she could also hear them thinking and that was weird so she ignored the voices.

Thalia felt bad for Nathaniel, he was only trying to be nice and here she was always running away, maybe it was because she was attracted to him and was afraid to get her heart broken again.

This thought made her stop walking and look back to see him leaning on a wall looking at her. For some reason, at that precise moment, she felt ashamed of the way she acted and walked toward him; she looked into his eyes intensely.

"I'm sorry Nathaniel; I'm just not used to be around people anymore. To be honest, when someone is nice to me all I can think of is 'what does he want from me'. I hope you can understand" she said looking at the ground and fidgeting with her foot.

Nathaniel just smiled and lifted her chin a bit "don't be sorry, I know exactly how you feel and I know you need time that's why I let you walk by your own and didn't follow."

He took her hand, led her to the nearest coffee shop, and pulled a chair for her. Sitting across from her, Nathaniel ordered two pancakes and two cup of tea.

"Look, about your past life, I know it's none of my business but don't judge yourself or punish yourself. You did it out of love and no one can be blamed except the one who sent the picture around, not you" he said softly trying to sooth her pain.

When Nathaniel talked about her problem, she looked at him shock visible on her face.

"Huh? How do you know about that?" she asked frowning.

"I spoke to a girl named Lydia; I want to help you and in order to do that I need to know what's going on".

"You went snooping behind my back and into my past?"

Thalia was furious and about to leave when he caught her hand and made her sit again.

"This part of your life is gone, you can't change it. I don't want you to keep hurting over something that isn't real anymore; you have a new life ahead of you. You just have to live it right," he explained.

Thalia looked at him horrified "drinking blood is live right? I don't think so! You cursed me! You made me a monster!" she yelled at him while he was looking around to make sure no one was paying attention.

"Not at all; it's true I created you but you're the one who choose whether you want be a monster or not. Trust me, if you keep thinking about revenge...you'll be one of the darkest creatures," he said getting up and taking her back to the woods.

"I see you don't need me so I'll let you go your own way" he said before disappearing.

Thalia watched him go and sat on the dirt thinking for a while, she had to talk to her mother, tell her she was sorry and inform her that she was still here, but she knew her mom would go insane if she saw her.

The lost newborn made her way to the cave she found earlier in the morning and took a quick bath in the small pond. It was dark inside, but she saw everything as perfectly as if the lights were on. It was another change within her. Her heightened sight. She could make out every detail of the cave; every rock has its own natural design carved on it. Thalia found it amazing. When she was done, Thalia put on her favorite jeans and a white tank top, she let her hair fall down and it dried quickly. She applied a small amount of make up on her face and walked out of the cave. It was already night time, and she was ready to have some fun.

Thalia looked different and knew no one would recognize her so she made her way to the local bar and ordered a beer. Sitting by her own she saw her ex boyfriend come in, she kept looking at him until he noticed her and raised his eyebrows before frowning. She smiled, winked and looked away, very much aware that her beauty was a deadly weapon now.
