Recap: James killed Nathaniel who had healing powers and transmitted them to Thalia when he changed her. Thalia gave him her blood and he woke up a few days later forgetting all about Thalia since she rejected him as a mate. He turned Karly and took her as a pet and lover. Hailey couldn’t watch her new friend in pain so she’s helping her using some kind of magic.

Thalia tried to figure out what it was, a huge black yet almost transparent entity floating in the cold and now very dark forest. Instinctively the vampire took a step back not knowing what was waiting for her, but what troubled her most was Hailey’s body, lying lifeless on the ground. She couldn’t hear her heartbeats or her breathing which only meant one thing. Hailey was dead.

The entity in front of her started changing, shaping into something more accurate every second while groaning like a wild animal. Taking a closer look Thalia noticed a tail, a fluffy black tail, triangular ears and…whiskers?  She frowned and rubbed her eyes not believing what she was seeing.  I must be hallucinating she thought to herself looking at the midnight black cat in front of her. The cat shrunk to the average size of a normal cat and let out a loud meow which startled Thalia for a moment. She was never a cat lover but she wasn’t scared of them or irritated by them, but this one freaked her out! Why in the world would Hailey invoke a cat of all creatures? She sighed and relaxed when she saw the cat licking its paws. Hailey must have failed she thought looking at the limp body.

She was about to walk toward her friend and see how she could help her when she felt a pain shot through her chest and she was thrown back with such a force she couldn’t stop from falling and hitting the tree. Confused, Thalia looked around but saw nothing and no one, just the cat licking itself as if its life depended on it. She tried to get back on her feet but something was pushing her down and it angered her bringing her darkness to the surface. She growled and without knowing what she was doing, she had a fire circling her while the wind picked up shaking the trees from their roots. Thalia didn’t know she was doing this, she thought it was whatever ‘thing’ that was holding her back. She let out a strangled cry as she tried to get up again. In her mind, she was just trying to use her vampire abilities to find the ‘thing’, to picture it. A line of fire was drawn from the circling fire to the center, just a few meters from where she was. Thalia looked at it intently, afraid it might jump at her, instead, the line drew another circle of fire with agitated flames that grew high and higher with each passing second. Thalia’s frown increased when she heard a cry of pure pain coming from the small circle of fire. She saw the walls of fire vibrating violently before they extinct briskly; a tall slender figure emerged from the previous raging fire.

Thalia studied it quickly not realizing she was now able to move freely. It was a middle age woman, a beautiful woman actually with green piercing eyes that reminded her of a green forest, a flawless pale skin with red pulpous lips. She was dressed in a simple long sleeved black dress with a very low cleavage. The soft but imposing voice of the woman pulled Thalia out of her inspection mode lightly startling her.

“How dare you wake me up after only a century of rest!”

Thalia was at loss of words, a century of rest is more than enough you stupid b….  but her thoughts were interrupted again.

“Don’t you dare insult me you insolent creature! Isn’t it enough that you have brought me back to this world full of corruption and…” she looked at Thalia and swore “And you are a Vampire! Oh spirits! What have I done to deserve this!” she cried out loud her hands up in the sky.

Thalia felt the urge to laugh but she knew it wouldn’t help her much in this situation. She sighed and stood up brushing off her clothes from the dirt the wind had covered her with. She finally found the strength and courage to speak.

“I don’t know who you are, I didn’t wake you” she looked toward Hailey and saw the cat licking her face. Thalia’s face twisted in disgust “That disgusting cat is licking the witch who woke you up” she said calmly.

“That’s Eniatchi, my cat!” the lady snarled before looking at the body. She frowned when she recognized who it was, only she or any other soul like hers could see the star on the girl’s forehead. “She’s the new guardian…” she whispered forgetting that Thalia even existed. She walked toward Hailey and brushed her cheek “This conjuring spell was too strong for her, I’m hard to reach” she said so low that Thalia had barely heard her.

Closing her eyes, the beautiful woman placed her palms on both Hailey’s cheeks murmuring something that Thalia could not understand. Warmth began to flow in Hailey’s body again and Thalia could now hear her heart beat steadily and smiled relieved that her friend was alive and judging by her breathing, she was asleep.

The woman walked back to where Thalia was, standing closer this time “Do you know why she called to me?” her voice was now softer.

“Yes, she was trying to help me with my situation but she kept me in the dark, she just asked me to be here at Midnight”

“So she used your blood…And what is your situation exactly?”

Thalia looked at her for a moment not knowing how to put this into words at the moment. She took a deep breath and tried to speak anyway as she sensed the witch losing her patience.

“My mate was killed, I gave him my blood and he was brought back to life, but I had rejected him before and now he completely threw me out of his life and wants nothing to do with me” she looked at the floor embarrassed as she felt it wasn’t a good enough reason to waken up this witch.

“you are a healer…and from what you’ve done earlier you can control fire and the wind. That’s impressive, only a few vampires have that kind of powers. Only vampires that knew powerful witches” she looked at Hailey suspiciously.

“No, she didn’t do it. My mate…my creator, he knew her ancestor” she said pointing to Hailey “She gave him powers because he helped her and was good. But then he changed and went on a dark road, as a punishment..”

“I know that story” she rudely interrupted her smirking “Your mate is Nathaniel Black isn’t he?” she shook her head “It’s not a surprise he threw you away like trash…he likes to play around and boy he’s good at it. Good at many other things if you know what I mean”

A flame of anger ignited in Thalia’s gut “Just don’t” she threatened the witch in front of her “Do you know how I can have him back or not?” she said through gritted teeth.

“Have you kissed him since he woke up? Made love to him?” she asked raising an eyebrow.

Thalia thought it was a stupid question since the guy wanted nothing to do with her “No”

“Very good! All you have to do is make a mind healing spell, you’ll need various cleansing herbs” she paused “your friend over there will know what kind of herbs. You’ll need something that belong to him and a drop of his blood, but be careful, he must not have fed for at least three hours” she sighed and thought for a moment “He doesn’t have to be nearby. Once the witch completes the first phase, you have to add a few drops of your own blood with the mix as well as your stone…”

when she saw the puzzled look Thalia wore she sighed heavily “Your special stone is the Jade, every creature has a special stone” she called her cat and held it in her hands “this is the second part of the ritual, it will help him remember you. You have to crush the mix with your stone and chant along with the witch:

 ‘By soul, mind and body, I Call to you my mate for Eternity

You were mine and will always be

Let the wind bring you back to me

Let again the fire of our love be free

By all the spirits I call to you and forever link you to me’”

Thalia took everything in and even is she was a bit skeptical at how easy this was she was grateful for the witch’s help. She was about to thank her when the latter spoke again.

“This ritual must be done here, in this exact same spot, and only on the second night of the full moon”

“Thank you for everything…”

“Irina”

“Irina… I don’t know how to thank you enough.”

“Just don’t mess up the spell and dear…If he’s already engulfed in darkness which I assume he is… Be careful. Mate or not in that state, he can be very dangerous and violent. You have to help him out in order to live with him”

Thalia gulped and watched the witch disappear before running back to Hailey. She took her in her arms and ran at full speed till she reached Hail’s house. She put her to bed and waited till she woke up.

“What happened?” Hailey asked as she found herself in her bed

“Irina was nice, a bit mad at first but nice” she smiled and told her friend everything. They wrote down the incantation as well as what they needed for the ritual.

Thalia looked at the time and saw it was three in the morning; she still had to go to Ally’s house and take that list she compelled her to write.

Thalia sneaked into Ally’s room and found her still awake looking at her door blindly.

“Ally?” Thalia asked her raising an eyebrow

“You came! It’s past midnight! I couldn’t sleep! It’s weird, every time I tried I just got up and came back to sit here! But I’m tired!”

Ally felt bad for compelling her she walked toward her and took the envelope from Ally’s hand “Thank you Ally, you can go to sleep now” she kissed her forehead and left.

Once in her room alone, Thalia kept pacing back and force looking at the envelope, she thought she was ready but now that the possibility of finding out who did this to her was in her hands, she just couldn’t get herself to open it. Thalia took a deep breath “I’m strong! I can do this and get my revenge” She knew that Ally might be wrong but she always trusted her judgment. Ally was always calm and quiet but observant. Thalia finally managed to open the envelope and took out the small paper, at first she was angry that Ally didn’t write a list but then she read the one and only name written in the center of the note. She frowned looking at it and reading it again and again not able to believe it possible.
