Chapter 2: Assigned
Hey, gurls!
So, I got to hear from a couple of beans last chapter, including the amazing bean blueivysmom. (You should follow her; she is AMAZING!)
Oh, by the way, I'm going to start doing singular POV chapters, because I want to, and because I like tormenting you gurls. (JK, y'all are amazing.)
Anywhoo, let's keep going, shall we?
*Scott POV*
After I finished cleaning my room, I looked at the clock to see how much time I had left.
11:50
My Assignment was at 12. I figured I'd better leave now.
"Good luck, Scott!" my mom called as I left.
"Thanks!" I called back, "I'll see you later!"
Quickly, I hurried off.
My town is made of white buildings, all in a circle. The further into the circle, the more important the building is.
And in the center of it all is the Central Building, where all the Elders lived.
My grandmother, Mary Ann, currently lived there too, but I hardly ever saw her; she was a High Elder (they're like the government of us Light Beings), and they were always busy.
I hoped I'd get to see her today. It'd be nice to see a familiar face.

When I walked in, I was immediately escorted to a room, where all the others of my age group were waiting.
Quickly, I got in line with the others as the High Elders entered the room.
The High Elders have always been intimidating to me (mostly because of my shyness). With their pure-white robes, clean-shaven heads, and serious expressions, they could send a thrill of fear into the bravest of souls.
"Ladies and gentlemen," one of them said, "We are honored that you are here.
As you know, today is the day you will realize your purpose in our Great Mission. As we call your name, please step forward and receive your mark as a Messenger."
While the other kids got called, I took the opportunity to scan the crowd of Elders, and I saw Grandmother at the far end.
She had eyes the color of fresh snow, and she had a way of making you feel better, even though she was as stern-faced as the rest of the High Elders.
Apart from that, nothing had really changed about her. She still looked much like the smiling beauty that I used to beg for stories whenever I got sad.
"Scott Hoying!"
The sudden use of my name startled me out of my memories, and I realized that it was Grandmother who had said it.
Quickly, I stepped forward, bowing respectfully to the Elders.
"May the Great Spirit shine upon you, High Elders," I said, my voice quieter than usual.
"And to you as well, Master Hoying," said the High Elder Cecilia.
"Scott Hoying," said High Elder Quince, "of all the young ones we have had, you were the most difficult to place."
"However," Grandmother said, and I could feel the warmth in her voice, "we have decided to send you into the Human World."
A gasp came from the others, and I felt shocked.
"I-into the Human World, ma'am?" I asked.
"Yes, Scott," Grandmother said, smiling slightly at me, "You will live like a human, spreading peace and hope that way."
"Of course," said High Elder Zen, "you will be given gifts to help you along."
Four of the Elders stepped in front of me.
"My gift is Flight," said High Elder William, "that you may find transportation a bit easier."
"My gift is Mind," said High Elder Cecilia, "that you may have a deeper connection and understanding towards the humans."
"My gift is Dreams," said High Elder Morpheus, "that you may spead a bit of peace at night, when our enemy chooses to strike."
"And my gift," said High Elder Eve, the eldest of the Elders, "is Emotion. You will be able to empathize more with the humans, as you will be able to feel their emotions."
As each of them spoke, I felt power coursing through me. I looke down to see markings appear on my arm, almost like a tattoo.
"Thank you, High Elders," I said, bowing again, "I will not let you down."
As soon as those words left my mouth, I vanished.
I hate cliffhangers, too.
But besides that, what did you think?
Also, I need a song for the next chapter. (It needs to be something a Demon would sing.) If anyone has any ideas, please leave a comment.
Luv you all! *blows kisses*
