Chapter 10: The Cat
Hey, gurls!
So, I have been conversing with my secondary nutcase bean (aka PTXloverForever200), and... well, let's just say that stuff's about to get interesting.
*starts cackling evilly*
Enjoy!
*Mitch POV*
I walked into the mall with Scott, and immediately, he stopped and covered his ears.
I chuckled slightly as I watched his eyes dart around, looking at everything.
Eventually, he pulled his hands away from his ears, and we continued walking, stopping every so often so that Scott could look around.
"So many people," he commented.
"Yeah," I said, "They come here a lot to buy things, or to meet each other."
At one point, he stopped to look at a stuffed dog, and I was quite sure that it was love at first sight.
"Scott," I said, "if you want it, I can get it for you."
He looked up and nodded, his smile lighting up his entire face.

Two hours later, we had been to several different stores. The bodyguards carried most of the stuff, but Scott was carrying his dog, and I was carrying a few things of my own.
Then, at a pet store, I spotted something that made me stop in my tracks.
In one of the cages, there was a small animal curled up in a corner.
At first, I wasn't sure what it was.
Then it stood up, and I realized it was a cat.
A hairless cat.
I thought my heart would melt at the sight of this small creature.
"Let me guess, we're going inside?" Scott asked.
In answer, I smacked his arm before walking into the pet store.
I walked straight up to the cage I'd been looking at, and I smiled at the cat inside it.
"Hi there," I said, putting my hand against the cage.
I don't know what I was expecting, but I was not expecting the cat to stare straight at me and say "What's up?".
I backed up quickly, my mouth open in shock.
"What the..." I said, "Did you just..."
The cat rolled his eyes in annoyance.
"Yeah, I just talked," he said, "Get with the program, stupid."
"Did you just call me stupid?" I asked, trying to keep from barbecuing this cat.
"Yeah," he replied casually, cleaning off his front paw.
"What is that thing?" Scott asked, "Is it a cat or a naked mole rat with big ears?"
"Hey, watch with the name-calling, buddy!" the cat hissed back.
"You were the one who just called me stupid!" I pointed out.
Instead of answering, the cat presented to us his backside as he cleaned off his other paw.
"Ugh, whatever," I said, "Let's just get out of here."
At that, the cat turned back around.
"Hey, wait a minute. You can't leave yet!"
I ignored him, but Scott turned to face the hairless demon.
"Why not?"
"Because you haven't paid for me yet," he replied.
"And why in the world would we pay for you?" I asked, turning back around, "You're rude, obnoxious, and I could think of several other things I'd rather get besides you."
Cats don't normally smile, but this one did, displaying its little sharp teeth.
"Simple," he said, "Because I can invoke the right of the Demon Law Korero..."
I hissed at the mention of that Law, and Scott turned to look at me with concern.
"What's he talking about, Mitch?" he asked.
"He's talking," I growled, "about the Demon Law. If a Korero (A/N: That's Maori for "talking", BTW) invokes that Law, the Demon is obligated to take ownership of it.
"Yeah," the cat said, scratching behind his ear with his paw, "Now, can we hurry up on this, or do I need to call someone?"

Needless to say, we ended up getting the little hairless demon cat. (His name, I found out, was Wyatt.)
As we walked around the mall, Wyatt insisted on stopping to see everything.
"I've been inside that stupid pet store my whole life," he told me when I was about to complain, "Cut a cat some slack, buddy."
So I didn't complain, but I had to keep my hands in my pockets to keep from barbecuing him.
Then, while we were at the food court, I spotted a familiar face in the crowd.
Quickly, I took off in that direction, leaving Scott and the bodyguards to chase after me.
"Karina!" I called happily, and she turned to face me, her face lighting up when she saw me.
"Mitch!" she called back, wrapping me in a hug that almost lifted me off the ground.
"It's been too long, Kar," I said, pulling back to look at her, "Wow, you haven't changed a bit."
She smiled, tucking a strand of her long blonde hair behind her ear, and I could see tears in her sapphire eyes.
At that point, Scott and the others caught up to us, and Scott looked at us in confusion.
"What's going on?" he asked.
I looked at Karina, then back at him.
"Scott," I said, "I'd like you to meet Karina, my half sister."
A/N: Don't kill me, please.
*audience starts yelling and preparing to throw stuff*

*audience quiets down*
Also... there might be some more introductions later.
