꧁Part One꧂

"Y/N! Wanna play tag?!" Phil asked as he walked over to me while I was reading a book and sitting by a tree. "Sure!" I responded though I actually really didn't want to play, my book was so much better.

Phil lightly grabbed my hand with his smaller one and as much as I hate to admit it, it was adorable.

Phil led me over to the edge of the woods where the rest of the kids were participating. "Who's going to be 'it'?" I asked as I looked over everyone that was playing. "Norman." Connie answered. Today was Connie's last day here, not that she knew that. I believe that Mom is telling everyone during dinner.

"Three..Two..." Ray started to count down for us to go since he never participated. "...One!" he continued and everyone other than him and Norman ran off into the forest at full speed.

I didn't want to play this game in the first place but since I got dragged into it, may as well win. The kids went separate ways though some stuck together in small groups.

Groups aren't an awful idea but depending on who you're with it could either be your savior or your demise. Even though groups aren't a bad idea it wouldn't be good for me, I'm too independent and don't like other people weighing me down.

By now I was all the way to the back of the woods as far as we were allowed to go. I had a pretty good idea of what was beyond that point though I never bothered to actually check.

In the far distance the sound of kids whining after getting caught could be heard. Before Norman could get closer to where I was I climbed up to the top of a fairly tall tree and decided to just wait for time to run out. I could hear people running through the woods and getting closer to me in the process.

There was no way to tell if it was Norman or some of the kids, or both. A twig snapped and it sounded really close so I looked in the direction that the noise came from and saw Phil running and he looked like he was about to pass out.

I don't know what came over me but I had a feeling that Norman was chasing after him so I quickly jumped down and scooped up Phil in my arms.

When I looked to my right I saw Norman running at us full speed so I quickly dashed away from him, still holding onto Phil tightly so I didn't drop him. Norman continued to chase after us but I had the advantage.

Yes, I might have to carry a kid but Norman has been running a lot longer than I have so he should get tired out way before I do. When I noticed that Norman started to slow down I picked up my pace.

The second I turned a corner I climbed up in a tree as high as I could go while still holding onto Phil so I had to use one hand to climb and the other to hold him.

Once I climbed the tree Norman caught up to us but didn't exactly know where we went. Norman spun around in a circle for a second to try and find us but it was too late. Ray showed up, "Times up." he said and Norman sighed.

"Where did Y/N Go though?" Norman wondered aloud. Ray flicked his forehead and Norman rubbed the spot. "Baka, they probably went to the trees." Ray informed him and rolled his eyes.

After Ray said that I climbed back down and once I was a few feet off the ground I jumped off as Phil was tightly holding onto me. "Good game." I said and started to walk back. Even if I don't show it too much, I absolutely despise them, especially Ray.

I act all nice and everything in front of everyone but I'm not really like that I only act like that around the younger kids, ones about 7 years old or below.

Not saying that I'm a bitch to everyone else, I'm just nicer to the younger kids. When I got back out of the woods all the other kids were there other than Ray and Norman.

Phil was still latched onto me though I was too tired to care. It was time to go back inside and Ray and Norman finally came from the woods.

We all walked inside and kids started to do their assigned chores. I had to make dinner today with Ray...great. Ray walked into the kitchen with me following right behind him. "What should we make?" I asked, breaking the awkward silence that had grown between us.

"I don't know, I'm not really in the mood to do this in the first place." he remarked, making me roll my eyes.

"Ramen?" I suggested as I looked through the cabinets. "Sure." he mumbled and started to help me make it.

-----

We finished making the ramen, it took a while since Ray wasn't much help. The table was set and everyone started eating. "Everyone, I have something to tell you." Mom said which paused all of the side conversations that were happening.

"Connie is getting adopted and will leave tonight." Mom announced. This information was already known to me so it didn't come as a surprise.

I ate quickly and left my bowl there since it's Don and Gilda's job to clean the table and wash the dishes tonight. There wasn't anything for me to really do so I went to the library.

When I got there Ray was already there reading a book but I just ignored his presence. Ray was reading the book that I was half done with, he always seemed to be taking the books I was reading which gets really annoying.

Ray looked up from his book and looked at me but I didn't bother to look at him and just started to look for a new book since he took mine.

----

Mom called everyone to the dining room to say goodbye to Connie before she left. I didn't really need to say goodbye but we were supposed to go down so I did. A few kids had tears in their eyes seeing her leave but it didn't bother me.

Eventually Connie left with Mom to go get killed and I was about to go back to my room when I heard Emma, Norman, and Ray talking. Ray was telling Emma and Ray to go after Connie to give her little bunny.

'What the hell is he thinking?! He's trying to get them to know about the secret of this place! I knew he couldn't be trusted!" I thought as I watched this.

Since Ray and everyone else doesn't know I'm mom's spy I can't tell them not to go. If it were just Emma and Norman that probably wouldn't question it but Ray would get too suspicious of me.

Instead of going back up to the library like I had originally planned, I waited for them to come back to see what they would do. It didn't take long for them to come back and when they did they looked traumatized but they were trying to hide it and did a wretched job.

They didn't look like they were going to immediately tell someone and made a huge deal about it so I went back to the library like I had originally planned.
