The wolf and the lamb!

She is drowning in the nightmare her life has become. Trying to claw to the surface, but the tides are too strong, and the waves have washed her away long ago. The salt water has entered her body, filling it with bitterness that taints the sweet-sour taste she used to bear. Her incandescent glow has brightened in the murky darkness of the ocean in which she drowns, and it is like she beckons him forth, temptation rising within him like hunger.

He sees her flailing, her voice drowned out by the sound of the waves. She is holding onto her last breath, trying to find the will to hold onto the last bit of life she has left.

I feel like I'm drowning!

He reaches for her hands through the dark depths of the water, and suddenly, his lungs are filled with the salt of the sea. This time, he's drowning, his lungs on fire and his body weak -- like all the sins of his past are anchoring him down, dragging him into the depths -- like his own version of purgatory. Now, her hand reaches into the murky depths, her glow lighting the darkness around him. He can feel it running through his blood -- relief and an emotion he can not quite decipher.

I can't be what you need!

Her hands reach for his, and the moment they make contact, she's no longer trying to help. Instead, she's beside him, drowning too. The water is ruthless, like a child throwing a fit. Only this one isn't calmed down as easily.

Perhaps they are fated to suffer together, destined to drown in their sorrows together, no matter how cynical it seems.

Have I created yet another Damon Salvatore book based on the novels this time... yes. I did. I know most people are more focused on the show, and people probably don't care about the novels, but there's a certain allure to them that I find interesting so I wanted to write a book based on it. The personalities of most of the characters are completely different than they are in the show!!

For example, Elena and Katherine quite literally switched personalities. And I'm not changing this by my own accord but am following the book in that direction. I know most people probably won't like that, but Elena is such a complex character in the novels, and Bonnie actually has a sunshine personality. Meredith is more than a murderous doctor that's infatuated with Alaric - and someone people forget about. Matt is so well written, too! He's not just there for the fun of it. He's actually useful, and he and Stefan are even friends!

Caroline is sooooo mean white girl coded, and I can not wait to write her like that. I know that'll probably annoy some people, but her character in the books is actually so interesting. If you noticed that Tyler has a different last name, it's because he is now Tyler Smallwood (based on the books), Bonnie even has another last name, too, and so does Matt.

Now, onto the tea. Damon and Stefan are not really... different in the books... but fair warning, Stefan isn't just his hero hair self. His relationship with Elena is much more complicated than in the show, which I wish they'd done in the show. He doesn't immediately ask her out because she looks like Katherine. In fact, he stays away from her because of it! I won't spoil any more because you'll have to read the book. Anyway, Damon isn't as... Damon. He's much cruel and more volatile and unpredictable. I know that he's my man, but sometimes he just-

Anyway, he's not going to be an exact replica of how he was depicted in the show. Also, I aged him down by like six years because he's nine years older than Elena and the others, and I'm not really into that, so... anyway, the Salvatore brothers were born in the Renaissance Era, so the fact that Sophia is an artist just had to be added into this because shes definitely going to sketch Damon, and hes definitely going to simp when he sees it. And the romanticism of it is going to kill me.

What I like about the novels is that it's completely different from the show, so if I want to write a book based on the novels, and then one based on the show, I won't feel like I'm just repeating the same plot all the time, and I have much more creative freedom.

Sorry for the long author's note, but I really needed to rant, and that's not even everything. Anyways, I haven't even spoken about the main character yet?! Sophia is so bbg. She's veryyyyy much a direct reflection of my personality, and I might have projected myself onto her but only a little. She's going to be very teenage girl core, and I can't wait to write her. She's also very hippie like, but with a slightly toned down version because all that was written in the nineties. Anyways, enjoy Damon and Sophia's story. I hope you live them as much as I do!
