73: Apologize
All Through The Night - Sleeping At Last
Jungkook held Taehyung's hand as he stands in front of the door to Jimin and Yeosang's bedroom, trying to ease his anxiety with his thumb over his knuckles.
It took a whole a lot of dignity for Taehyung to have the guts to try to apologize. He doesn't like apologizing. He doesn't like knowing he hurt someone because it just makes him feel sick to his stomach.
In the past, that never took his sleep away, now? After his previous fights with Jungkook, that perspective has changed.
Taehyung absolutely hates knowing he hurt someone, and as much as he wants to turn around and run away, he can't.
However this is not something up for debate.
He needs to do this.
He needs to apologize for just pushing over Jimin's limits.
He overdid it.
"Are you ready?" Jungkook asks quietly, making Taehyung let out a heavy breath that followed by a nod, squeezing his hand in return.
He can't speak right now because he'll know he'll probably want to back out by his own guilt. If he's going to be living with Jimin, he doesn't want there to be an hard barrier between them, especially after what happened.
They'll talk things out in order to have peace.
So just as Taehyung was about to knock on the wooden door, it already opens, revealing Yeosang on the other side. He looks as though he was going somewhere by how he's dressed but the second he saw Taehyung and Jungkook in front of him, he paused and glancing at the two with a perked eyebrow.
Taehyung instantly lets go of Jungkook's hand.
Can't piss off someone else now.
"What do you want?" He spits out sourly, His face slightly scrunching up in a familiar darkness almost as similar as a guarded animal.
Just ready to attack.
Taehyung's actually glad that Yeosang is the only one to hate him the way he does.
His feelings are valid, Taehyung always knows how to make himself look back, precisely in front of him.
Not like Taehyung is trying to impress him either way.
Taehyung gulps nervously, "I-Uh.... I came to talk to Jimin-"
"Goodbye," Just as Yeosang was about to slam the door close, a voice stops him.
Jimin.
"It's okay," He says and suddenly appeared behind him, rubbing a hand to his back, "Go do what you are going to do, it's okay."
Yeosang glances back at him, almost as if asking if he's sure about it.
That gesture was so small yet it just showed a lot to Taehyung and Jungkook for that single moment. It was as though Yeosang's walls melted down into nothing, revealing his complete vulnerable emotions to the man standing behind him when their eyes connected.
Yeosang..... The kid who has an actual blood thirst for beating people up, holds grudges as though his life depends on it and has a snarky tongue if anyone just as though breathes around him, is capable of..... Staring at someone.... Like that?
It's a gaze so soft that it nearly had Taehyung believing that he was actually seeing things.
Jungkook knows for fact that Yeosang in his entire life has never stared at someone the way he is to Jimin. It's almost as though Jimin's the control switch to his emotions, just say the word and Yeosang would either lash out or stay in place.
Right now, he wants to be sure that Jimin is okay being alone with these two after his fragile breakdown moment.
To see Yeosang care like this about someone other than his siblings is what raised hope for Jungkook, that perhaps his brother isn't as entirely heartless as he feared him to be.
All trailing back to Jimin, who has his whole heart on the palm of his hand.
Just like Taehyung has Jungkook's heart at the palm of his hand as well.
That thought alone made Jungkook look away from the sight, not seeing Jimin reassuring nod to him that it was okay. Yeosang doesn't move for a moment, still staring at him before humming quietly and looks back at Taehyung and that soft gaze is completely gone.
Now much more demonic.
"I better not hear that he's hurt again because of your stupid tongue," He sneers angrily before shoulder bumping past him and walking down the hallway, not saying where he went off to.
Jungkook doesn't want to worry, so he just has to trust that his brother won't pull a stupid decision.
Taehyung is only staring at Jimin now, who is still looking away but nods inside, "Both of you, come in."
Oh.... Jungkook wasn't expecting him to be part of this conversation too.
He was just.... Going to leave ...... Okay guess he's staying too.
When Jimin turns his back, Jungkook and Taehyung hesitantly glanced at each other before stepping into the room. It's designed differently than theirs; Yeosang's bed is facing the door while Jimin's bed is to the wall across, giving them access to be able to see each other. There's LED lights around the perimeter of the room, now off to only have Jimin's lamp on his nightstand on, being enough light for the room. There's nothing hanged up on the walls or the nightstands beside either bed, but it looks cozy and organize this way, maybe even more spacious.
Jimin wordlessly sits by the side of Yeosang's bed, nodding to Jungkook and Taehyung to sit on his. Without a word, they sit down on Jimin's bed, facing him with the anxiety rising up in the space of the room.
He can do this.
He just can't pass out.
He can do this.
Taehyung is pretty sure he's sweating now, rubbing his hands on his thighs as he clears his throat, catching Jimin's attention, "I want to apologize.... For overstepping my boundaries," He said quietly, keeping his voice steady to not end up being a stuttering mess, "I don't know what you went through while being with Jos-" Jungkook nudges his side, "I mean that guy.... I had no right trying to assume that it's easy to move on from something like that or be able to handle it while being in that situation, especially since I never been through it myself. I'm really sorry, I didn't want be harsh or cruel."
Initially, this wasn't what Taehyung had in mind to say.
He didn't intend to lie.
But after his own mental breakdown, he couldn't help but cover the horrors of his own life to himself.
No one should know, so he prefers being the naïve bad guy who didn't know any better.
It saved him till now.
There was a long moment of silence, almost like a pause when Taehyung finished. No words can describe how much his anxiety raised up the more seconds that passed by where Jimin didn't say anything, but he slightly calms down when Jungkook discretely rubs the lower region of spine just to assure him that he's still here for him.
That doesn't remove the nerves from his body but he appreciates the gesture.
"I'm not mad at you Tae," Jimin finally says after a moment of silence, eyes focused on the wall now, "What you said just..... Felt all too real. No one truly knows what I went through with Joshua, and it's something I alone will truly know what it was like. Your words did hurt a lot but.... I guess I just.... Needed to finally speak," And his eyes finally meets his, "So thank you."
This was not what Taehyung was expecting at all.
His facial expression spoke for itself as it twists in confusion, unable to say a word.
What does he mean by thank you?
He practically made him go through a whole mental break down!
Sure, the objective was for Jimin to break through, and it worked, but it went too extreme.
It shouldn't have gotten to the length that it did
So Jimin continues, "I held all of that in..... For so long," He breathes out heavily, looking down to his wrists and rubs his fingers along the bandage, "I hurt myself by being silent, but now... I needed to let that out.... You helped me use my voice to finally break it out... So I'm grateful for that."
Then he sits up on the bed, glancing between the two, "However, that doesn't mean that name can be mentioned here. I don't want any memory of him, I'm not ready to face it yet. So please just.... Let today not happen again, okay? I shouldn't have to express myself like that because I'm being pressured."
That was all Taehyung needed to hear in order for every bone in his body to relax, unable to suppress his weak smile to Jimin.
"Can we actually start to get to know each other this time around? I promise, that name is as good as gone," He asks hesitantly, not wanting to overstep his limits.
However when Jimin offered him a small smile with a nod, Taehyung knew everything was going to be okay between them. Maybe not instantly but it will slowly get there with more time that they spend in each other's presence.
Now this brought Jungkook to question, "So.... Why am I here?"
It seems as though as if Jimin remembered, he clears his throat, "I just wanted to tell you that... I genuinely appreciate you being in my life," He says quietly, twitching a smile, "I know life can be hard for all of us at times, especially being able to adjust to a place that you have never been to before, but you've always treated me so kindly and have impacted my life in various ways. I just want you to know that I love the person you are and there's nothing that could ever change my mind about that."
This took Jungkook's complete breath away.
It was all entirely unexpected, especially after what just happened, but this means so much coming from Jimin.
They've been stuck together since Jungkook literally stepped to Seoul and Jimin has always made sure to take care of him and make sure he's okay all the time. Not only is Jimin just his roommate now, but now his best friend.
Who he loves very much.
This would be the perfect time to squish the guy in a tight hug and cry a river to how cute his words struck his heart, but he knows Jimin may not be up for physical contact right now. So all he could do was twitch a sincere smile in return.
"I hope you know that I really like who you are as a person too. Thank you for being there for me and guarantee it for a fact that I'm be there for you for a very long time," He says assumingly, rewarding his words with one of Jimin's crescent moon smiles.
If only Jungkook knew Jimin was referring to something much more when he said his words, which involved the ink tinting his skin that he's so desperate to hide.
When the time comes that it'll be reveal, Jimin will be right there beside him, just as promised.
Now everything feels much more lighter and weightless in the air once everything got cleared out.
And Taehyung already had something planned when he shoots up and claps his hands, "I don't know about you but I'm in the mood to watch a Christmas comedy movie, and I won't take no as an answer from either of you."
So that's what they did; They sat down on the couch, ignited the fireplace on with the tv over it on the wall, got comfortable in their pajamas with blankets and popcorn and laughed together for a long time as they slowly began to feel even comfortable like a family in each other's company.
It's 2 a.m now and Yeosang still hasn't came back home.

A/N:
I really like this moment a lot. We got to see a lot of Jimin's tender character, along with Taehyung's character as well.
Fun fact for this story, when I usually write my stories, I don't really have an antagonist.
So when I write, I use a lot of perspective writing. Everyone reading is free to choose who they want as an antagonist or as the hero. For me, I believe everyone has a lot to show and to put on the table. Taehyung's character would be a great example of that; As I write it from beginning to now, many would assume or suspect he's a main antagonist despite the fact he's the main character. For me, I just write what his character holds without any role, same with Jimin and Jungkook's, etc.
You are able to choose who you see as an antagonist.
It's all about perspective and your own way of connecting with a character.
Hahaha I hope you all enjoyed this update!!!
I PURPLE YOU!!! <33
