60: Christmas Eve

All I Want For Christmas is You - Mariah Carey

_______________

It's Christmas Eve.

And to say Jungkook isn't feeling the Christmas spirit would be an understatement.

Being grumpy and sullen sounds like the perfect way to go.

Another week has passed after Woosung and Taehyung's fight and it felt as though the soul was sucked out of Jungkook's body. It's not like he was in the same shoes as Jimin to how he was after his break up with Joshua, but he used that time to reflect on a lot.

On himself.

On Taehyung.

Just on everything around him.

He felt the pieces of his heart still shatter but he was not one to be easily knocked over because someone in his life isn't there because of certain circumstances. It's not like he isn't use to it already.

Yeosang has been growing better after the beating. The following morning, Jimin made them a big breakfast and bought Yeosang a bag full of pain killers and cream for the bruises. It was slightly suspicious at first, Yeosang growing slightly panicked that Jimin saw him in his state but they took the kind gesture from the healing man. Jimin spoke more openly to Jungkook now, talking about things that would light up the room just as his slow smile would, anything to cheer the hallow ravenette.

It worked, definitely, but Jungkook was still in his heartache so those moments of joy always faded away whenever he opened the door to his room, alone.

Yeah maybe Jimin is right.

A change of scenery is definitely needed after all the fucked up shit that's been going on here.

Now in this Christmas Eve noon. Jungkook had to roll out of bed lazily because of Jimin demanding for him to come to the kitchen while blasting Christmas music, clearly feeling the Christmas spirit.

It seems as though Jimin has been growing better and better around the two brothers. He smiles wider at them now and is comfortable enough to  do gentle taps on their shoulder as physical contact, a sign of comfort in his way.

And that's definitely an improvement.

"WHAT!" Jungkook whines, swinging the door open to his room to be blasted with the full force of the pop Christmas music and the scent of hot chocolate and.... Cake?

Jimin is practically floating around the room like a pretty butterfly as he hanging up Christmas decorations, setting a few presents on the Christmas tree, and setting a Santa hat to Yeosang's head as the child sits on the couch with eyes ready to explode.

There's no denying he's getting intense flashbacks of the Christmas tree falling on him three times while they were decorating it. He was just always in the line of direction when it would collapse until Jungkook managed to set it at a good angle. Jimin went crazy decorating it with silver and gold ornaments in such an elegant way that made it feel almost as if it was cut out from a fancy magazine.

Truth is.... Jungkook and Yeosang obviously never had that home type of environment as Jimin has been displaying lately, especially on Christmas. They never celebrated anything. So being here, seeing Jimin's efforts in having the full Christmas spirit is almost exciting but so weird.

In a good way.

"Help me frost the cake!" Jimin yells back, emerging from the kitchen with a plain one level cake on a flat plate with his baggy chick onesie.

That's another thing too, Jimin has been wanting Jungkook out of the room often. It could be for the most simplest thing in the world and he would be calling out his name to help him with something or just for anything. Maybe he just doesn't want Jungkook to be stuck in his room all day, or it's possibly because he wants to spend more time with his roommate.

So by now this was no surprise.

And Jungkook couldn't find himself to say no to him.

So, they decorated the cake with red, green and white frosting. Yeosang is sitting on the chair across from them, making sly comments here and there that surprisingly never failed to make Jimin snicker a smile, sparkling eyes look at the younger before shyly looking back at the cake.

Jungkook was not oblivious of this, and by now he feels like he's missing something.

Maybe even interrupting.

It's no surprise Jimin and Yeosang have grown closer ever since Jungkook caught them sleeping on the couch. Since that night Jimin would still keep his distance from physical contact but Yeosang was always there to make him feel comfortable enough to not feel the need that they have to be physically affectionate if they get along; if it's their late movie tradition, going out to run errands even though Yeosang practically hates going outside now, or baking since Jimin enjoys it so much. Yeosang puts up with it because nothing will ever make him happier than seeing Jimin healing and happy, with life or around his presence.

This is probably the first time Jungkook has seen Yeosang ever smile so wide in his life.

IT's always when he's beside Jimin.

Their friendship is slow, but it's definitely there.

And it's nice seeing how it develops up slowly.

"I'M NOT THE CAKE JIMIN!"

Jungkook blinks up from doing his amazing red flower design on the cake, chuckling under his breath upon seeing Yeosang's cheek smeared with green frosting. He tried to appear mad or upset, but the second Jimin started to laugh hard, his eyes disappearing under his radiating smile, he couldn't even bite back his own soft smile.

A smug grin slowly tugs Jungkook's lips, knowing he's going to have to have a nice little conversation with his brother soon and finally take the role of being a domestic big brother.

Nothing about giving a brother a prep talk about the art of love

The cake is finally done and the three found themselves in the living room, dancing to the music.

It's been days since Jungkook has smiled this big and he feels as though he can finally breathe properly after such along time. He laughs as he twirls Jimin around a few times, nearly chokes on his own laughter when Jimin suddenly grabs Yeosang and playfully dances with him to the music.

The boy was as stiff as it gets, but that still made Jimin smile before he lets go after a few minutes to continue letting loose to the music, brushing off his anxiety with his happiness.

It felt as though the time was finally on their side, feeling weightless on their shoulders until they hear a sudden knock on the door.

"I'll get it!" Jimin beams, leaving Jungkook to lower the volume a bit as he skips to the door and swings it open.

Oh?

Who's this?

Standing to the other side is a boy Jimin has never seen before.

His head is facing down to his feet but looks up when the door opens. The polite smile on his lips is almost charming but Jimin isn't about to think that since the kid looks a bit young.

Jimin is still cautious on giving other people compliments, even if it's just sincere compliments.

"Hello?" Jimin says, tilting a head to the side with a curious smile.

"Uh hi," The kid mutters, rubbing a hand on his arm that's covered by the sleeve of a black hoodie, "Is Jungkook here?"

Hm... Who is this boy?

Would he be in any way related to what Jimin heard that night he saw Yeosang beaten up?

Jimin sits up straight now, pursing his lips with narrowed eyes, "And you are?"

The boy licks his lips nervously, breaking a hesitant smile, "Oh um, my name is-"

"Hwanwoong?"

It seems as the world stopped, forcing it into a sudden pause the second that name echoed the thin air. Even the music stopped playing.

The boy furrows his eyebrows to the voice, almost in disbelief, before looking past Jimin to see the person behind the familiar voice.

To see a familiar face.

Instantly.... Darkness began to fill his eyes in sudden anger, twitching his eye in irritation.

"Yeosang?"
