Chapter 6, Doubting
I have just started reading the Twilight series and I have to say I am in love! The bond between Edward and Bella just feels so right that it's almost impossible not to ship them. But I'm not denying that Jacob is hotter than Edward. Sorry, but for me, werewolves overpower vamires any day. ❤
Lillian's POV
In my dream, it was dark, and what dim light there was seemed to be emitting from Raven's skin.
I couldn't see his face, just his back as he walked away from me, leaving me in the surrounding darkness.
No matter how fast I ran, I couldn't catch up to him, and no matter how loud I yelled his name, he never turned.
Unsettled, I woke up in my bed sweating.
Just a dream, I told myself. It was only just a dream.
I wrapped myself tighter in my duvet, feeling the symptoms of a hangover slowly rolling in.
I could hear my phone ding with message after message, knowing none of them were from Raven; he had a special ringtone.
My brain felt like it would pop beyond the capacity of my skull and now my lack of water was getting harder to ignore.
I would have to bump down the stairs on my backside. Again, my stomach gurgled and lurched.
Maybe some pain killers would help...
Slowly, I draped my legs off the side of the bed and cautiously stood on my feet.
I licked my cracked lips then rubbed my eyes, knowing my hangover was no were near over.
As I staggered downstairs and into the kitchen, my eyes had trouble coping with the bright sunlight.
I dragged my heavy limps to the fridge, deciding that eggs, bacon and sausages was the perfect meal to eat right now.
As I was about to turn the stove on, my phone rang, the words Ellie flashing on the screen.
I slowly picked it up.
"Ellie," I groan, my voice dry.
I walk to the sink to grab a glass of water.
"God, Lily you sound nearly as bad as I do," she giggles and I laugh, hearing her sniffle.
"I haven't looked on social media yet, in fear of what I might see," She mumbles.
I know what she's talking about. I have a feeling we both fear what we might've looked like last night, but I certainly wasn't gonna be the first one to ask.
"So, was it bad?" She asked.
"What was bad?"
"Me."
I chocked on my water.
"Oh...no," I hesitate. "I don't think so."
"Your lying," she grumbles. I can almost picture her squinting in suspicion right now.
"I honestly don't remember anything," I state truthfully.
"Well, it's probably best if I didn't know anyway," She laughs.
"You and me both." I reach for some aspirin in the top cabinet, taking it from the packet them chucking it into my mouth.
"That reminds me, are you ok from last night? Raven, I think that's his name, said he took you home after you fell down some stairs," She asked, her voice was laced with concern.
I furrow my eyebrows. I don't remember that...
"I don't remember that happening. Are you sure you heard him right?"
"Yeah. That was before I was drunk...I think." She doesn't sound certain. I'll have to ask Raven myself.
"Emerick ended up taking me home," She adds, quietly.
"Emerick?"
"Yeah... Raven's brother apparently."
"Oh, ok. I'll just ask Raven what happened today. Just to clarify," I say, putting my glass down.
"Ok, then. Bye. Love you."
"Bye." I hang up.
My hangover was gone, the only thing that was running through my head was suspicion.
Did that really happen? I don't believe it.
I decided just to let it go, trying to slid it out of my mind, telling myself not to worry.
Raven wouldn't lie to Ellie... would he?
Rubbing the last bit of sleep from my eyes, I walk upstairs and into my closet, ready to pick out something for the day.
I went with some light blue skinny jeans, an over-sized sweater and a pair of black hightop converse.
Technically, they are my average everyday cloths.
I pack my bag, grab some bacon, then head out the door.
I arrived at school 10 minutes before the bell, which gave me enough time to meet up with Ellie near our lockers.
"Well," Ellie says, raising her hands in a mock surrender. "I guess neither one of us won that bet, eh?"
I laugh. "Yeah, I guess so."
Before Ellie could get another word in I quickly blurt out, "El, do you think Raven's lying...you know, about me falling down stairs at the party?"
"What makes you ask that? I don't think he would lie to me," She says, her lips thinning into a straight line.
"You have too much trust in people! I wasn't that drunk you know."
My voice was getting a bit too loud and people were starting to stare, but I couldn't help it. I wanted- no, needed answers, and I needed them now!
"Look, Lily, I don't know alright. If your so curious, why don't you ask Raven youself. Cause he's standing right behind you," She sais, her last words registering in my head.
Oh, shit.
