It was lunch time at Ever After High, everyone was eating lunch at the castleteria.

What is Ever After High you may ask?

Well Ever After High is a boarding school located in the Fairy Tale World. It is attended by the teenage children of fairy tale characters. Its student population consists of the children of many fairy tale entities, whom the school prepares for their destiny to take their parents' roles within the stories, lest all of them cease to exist.

See fairytales have existed for thousands of years, inspiring imaginations around the world.

Certain stories were so spellbinding, they were passed down to new generations. But there was nowhere to teach the teenage sons and daughters of famous fairytales to follow in their parents' fabled footsteps.

That is until 1812, when the Grimm brothers opened the doors to Ever After High – a high school where the next generation of fairy tales learned to live their legacy. Class schedules specific for each fairytale were handed out – from Princessology for royal legacies to General Villainy for villain legacies. Headmaster Milton Grimm, who currently runs Ever After High, believes the future of fairy tales relies on all students fully embracing their prewritten destiny today to become a legend of tomorrow.

Ever After High is a large castle located at a clifftop. Students are expected to spend the school year at school, so there are plenty of facilities present to accommodate the students even outside classes, and what is lacking can be found in the Village of Book End, which is the village in front of the school. Some of the students even have jobs there.

Beneath the school lies the Vault of Lost Tales, which only a few know about, and the school is for a large part surrounded by the Enchanted Forest, which is a pleasant place to be by day but not so much by night.

As the continued existence of their world depends on it, many fairytale figures have taken up a job at Ever After High to prepare their children and those of their peers to take over the stories.

This is not to say that there are no staff members who support the students' search for an own destiny or ones who try to gain benefit from their important job, but on average the Ever After High staff fits within the spirit enforced by Headmaster Grimm.

Sitting in the castleteria was a 17 year old girl named Raven Queen, the daughter of The Evil Queen. She is part of "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" as the next Evil Queen, and she is a student at Ever After High. In the destiny conflict, she is on the Rebel side. In fact, she technically is the founder of the Rebel movement, because it was her rejection of her destiny that inspired others.  She dislikes this situation, because it makes the other students, Rebels and uncertain Royals alike, come to her for guidance, which she struggles to provide. 

Raven is not evil by any stretch of the definition and so playing the role of villain does not sit well with her. Nor does she enjoy the prospect of the punishment that she, as villain, is destined to. Resolving only her own problem already takes a lot of her energy and as such she cannot help others make their own personal decisions.

Raven Queen has pale skin, violet eyes, and slightly wavy hair in the colors black, purple, and maroon. Despite not being evil, Raven does love the fashion prescribed by her dark destiny. She accessories with lots of silver and other gray metals against a backdrop of purple and black fabric. Spikes and chains are a regular appearance in her fashion choices, as are feathers and dragon-style scales.       

Raven was sitting  alone at the lunch table, playing with her food. Not because she doesn't have any friends, is alone or that the classmates run in fear because she is the daughter of The Evil Queen. No it's because it happened to Raven Queen this past week and she needed some time to be alone and to gather her thoughts.

"Raven, why are you eating alone? Are you alright? What is wrong?" A girl asked.

Raven looked up and saw it was Venom Black, daughter of Maleficent and Raven's best friend since childhood.

Venom is seen having wavy medium purple hair with a pair curved, black horns on her head, has blue-grey color wings on her back, wears a long black trench coat, inside of  her black trench coat was shimmery blue, a mini black dress and a black garter belt with black over the knee high heel boots. Venom has silver in her black clothes to accentuate her outfit. Venom has purple eye shadow, wore red lipstick and had dark green painted nails

Venom sits at the table next to Raven when she notices her best friend's sad face as she nurses with her food.

"I'm fine, Venom. Really." Raven assured the daughter of Maleficent as she stared at her food and continued poking it with her fork.

"Yeah, right. You think we don't know when something troubles you? We know you better than that." Another girl scoffed with a Russian accent.

Raven and Venom look up to see Icelyn Blizzard, daughter of the Snow Queen and their best friend since childhood.

Icelyn was wearing a ultramarine blue winter fur coat dress with the hood up, turquoise blue mittens, paired with light blue leggings or solid tights, leg warmers made out of faux fur, ultramarine blue high heel winter boots and had heavy blue makeup on.

Icelyn sat next to Raven, with a Stargazy pie on her lunch tray.

"Icelyn is right, Raven. We  are your best friends. You can tell us anything." Said Venom.

"If there is something we can do to make you feel better, please tell us. We want to help you." Icelyn added, showing true concern for Raven's well being.

The daughter of the Evil Queen  sighed as she pulled her two best into a tight and affectionate hug.

"Venom, Icelyn.... thanks for caring." Raven sighed again as she continued and let go of Icelyn and Venom.

"It's just something strange that happened to me...." Raven said.

"Did those royals insult you or pick on you again? Or a teacher is forcing you to be evil and follow your assigned destiny? Or are the teachers insulting or picking on you again for not wanting to be evil? Well just point to whoever is and I swear I'll send them to the next ice age." Icelyn said as she clenched her fish tight and glowed ice blue as she conjured her ice magic.

Raven giggled, "No it's not because of that. Plus I think the royals understand I'm not gonna be like my mom. It's actually something else..."

"What is it, Raven?" Venom asked.

"Do you remember when we sign our name in the storybook of legends?" Raven asked.

"Yeah, we did to defeat Courtly Jester from preventing her from ruling Wonderland by signing Lizzie Heart's destiny." Venom said.

"And I signed my page from the storybook of legends so I could save you and Venom when you both were under the control of your mothers dark magic." Icelyn said.

"Right. So after that...something strange happened to me." Raven said.

"What kind of strange?" Venom asked.

"Well I started getting new powers." Raven said.

This made Icelyn and Venom confused as they looked at each other, then back at Raven.

"New powers? What do you mean? From your mother?" Icelyn said.

"No. Even though I haven't seen my mom or heard from her for a very long time, these powers didn't come from her." Raven said.

"Can you describe these powers?" Venom asked.

"It all started when I noticed spiders started to follow me everywhere. Now I may not have a fear of spiders but it was creepy still. I'm used to Apple White having her animal friends follow her but having spiders follow me everywhere is just wrong, weird, scary and creepy for me. Then I started to get new powers that involve spiders. I can conjure up spiders. I can summon spiders of various sizes, spiders that are normal and demons.  Then I suddenly have this physic link to spiders and can communicate and talk to spiders like I never before. Similar to how Apple and Ashylnn Ella can talk to animals. I can feel how the spiders feel and the pain they feel. I have new magic that involves spiders.  And just this morning, I woke up with my eyes glowing like green and hands glowing not my usual purple magic or my mother magenta magic but were glowing with lime green magic. This whole thing was weird because neither me or my mother have lime green magic or have powers that involve spiders." Raven said.

Venom and Icelyn sat in silence to take on what Raven just said about her new powers. They didn't know what to say.

"The only person who I know has green magic is my mom, Maleficent. But I doubt your mom has that kind of relationship with my mom. Not that I'm saying lesbian relationships are horrible but it's just my mom isn't into that kind of stuff and my mom sees your mom as a friend. That's all. Unless my mom uses some sort of magic to transfer her magic to your mom so that you have my mom's powers when you were born. But I doubt that is possible." Venom said.

"I doubt your father, The Good King, has those types of powers. I don't think he has any powers at all." Icelyn  said.

"But that's not all. I also overheard a conversation between my father and another person on the phone that made me question my family." Raven said.

"What happened?" Icelyn asked.

"It went like this....." Raven said.

(Flashback)

A while ago, Raven Queen went back home to see her father, The Good King for the holidays.

The Good King was so happy to see his daughter again.

Because of her mother's imprisonment, Raven was raised singularly by her father and her family's servants.

Raven and the Good King obviously had a close father-and-daughter relationship, with the Good King caring for his daughter.

It is unknown how Raven's father got along with his evil wife before her imprisonment, although the Evil Queen did not think very highly of her husband, though whether the Good King returned these feelings of enmity is unknown. If they did argue, they at least kept it from Raven.

Whatever the case, after his wife was sealed in the Mirror Realm, the Good King took care of Raven and it is possible that it was his influence that caused Raven to become so different from her sinister mother.

Raven and her father continued contact after she began her life at Ever After High, the Good King sending Raven a beautiful dress for Legacy Day.

Raven grew furious at Duchess Swan for insulting her father, which caused her rage to morph into a wave of magic.

Raven retained from informing her father of her rebellious choices out of fear of how he would feel, although she most likely eventually told him.

Given how the Good King encourages his daughter's kindness, he most likely supports her.

Even though The Evil Queen is currently locked up in Mirror Prison. She and Raven appeared to have a rather mixed mother-daughter relationship and, despite her dark nature, the Evil Queen generally loved her only daughter and her love of Raven is one of her few weaknesses, Raven possibly being the only person the Evil Queen truly cares about.

Raven cares for her mother in return and, though she doesn't want to be like her and dislikes how her mother makes fun of her father, she still cares for her imprisoned mother and the two shared some happy memories during Raven's youngest years.

The Evil Queen attempts to nudge her daughter towards evil, taking her to her war meetings and disliking her energetic puppy, Prince, viewing it as not appropriate for her daughter and heir, so she made a "puppy potion" to improve him, which turned him into a bone rat with black fur and red eyes, which the Queen renamed him Bubonick.

It was Prince's transformation that encouraged Raven to not want to be like her mother.

Despite having a desire for her daughter to become evil, the Evil Queen expresses pride in her daughter's rebellion, as she herself had rebelled in her own way.

After her mother is imprisoned (it is unknown how old Raven was when her mother was sealed in the Mirror Realm), Raven was allowed to speak to her once a year, as the main majority of the fairy tale population believed the Evil Queen to be dead after her attempted takeover of Wonderland, speaking to her via a magic mirror.

Despite this, the Evil Queen apparently kept a close eye on her daughter from the Mirror Realm, watching Raven's life through the reflecting-sides of mirrors.

Despite their long-distance mother-daughter relationship and their different desires for Raven's life, Raven still loves her mother dearly, a feeling her mother reflects.

Despite her transformation of Prince, the Evil Queen apparently dotes on her only daughter, often sending her gifts, which Headmaster Grimm disguises as gifts from Raven's father.

Anyways after Raven returns home to her father for the holidays, they spend all of their time together. Spending each other's company. Happy to be with each other.

It was around that time, Raven began to develop new powers after signing the storybook of legend but didn't tell her father because she didn't think he would understand because he didn't have any magic powers.

One day, Raven was walking down the hallway and passed her father's office when she heard something from her father's office.

It sounded like a phone call.

Curiosity got the better of Raven and she pressed her ear to the door.

"Yes, my daughter signed the storybook of legend to save her friends from Courtly Jester,  preventing her from ruling Wonderland and stealing her friend Lizzie Hearts's destiny. Why do you ask?" The Good King asked.

There was a pause before Raven heard her father's voice again.

"What?! What do you mean my daughter will inherit your powers after she signs the storybook of legend?!" The Good King asked.

Raven pondered at what The Good King said.

Her inheriting someone else's powers after she signs the storybook of legends?

What did he mean?

Raven listens to the conversation with her father even more.

"What do you want with my daughter?! You haven't seen or talked to her in years!!! You couldn't see her because of where you live and how dangerous your home is! The high crime rate makes your home even more chaotic!" The Good King said.

"The reason I took Raven and raised her after the Evil Queen's imprisonment in the Mirror Realm  is because she didn't want to become evil like her mother, especially after what happened to her puppy, Prince, when she was little. Whom might I add you helped by further Prince's mutation into a spider creature that horrified Raven tremendously when she was little." The Good King said.

The Good King gives Raven Queen a puppy for her sixth birthday.

Prince was Raven Queen's childhood pet. He was an energetic puppy with curly white fur. He was given to her on her sixth birthday by her father, the Good King.

The Evil Queen did not think her daughter's pet was appropriate for her, so she made a "puppy potion" to improve him.

Raven gave the potion to Prince without second thought, and it turned him into a bone rat with black fur and red eyes.

The queen renamed him Bubonick. Young Raven was sad because she liked him the way he was.

Young Raven decided that she did not want to be like her mother after seeing Prince's transformation.

To further add to Prince now known as Bubonick, he was given another potion that transformed into a hideous spider monster creature that horrified and traumatized young Raven very much.

Raven Queen still has nightmares to this day about Bubonic in his mutant spider monster attacking her.

"Oh so now you are sorry for transforming Prince into a mutant spider monster creature and scaring Raven in the process. You sure didn't sound sorry when you did that when Raven was 6 years old." The Good King said.

"I was the one encouraging Raven's kindness in spite of her destiny. I spent a lot of time with my daughter and worried for her well being since her mother was imprisoned for her crimes. Meanwhile you were with Raven because she looks like her mother whom you once dated in the past when you two were students at Ever After High and were known as High School Sweethearts but then  broke up after graduation. And you hope by babysitting Raven, The Evil Queen will date you again." The Good King said.

"What do you mean it wasn't because Raven looked like her mother who was also your high school ex girlfriend and so that you could get back together with her?! What other reason would you happily agree to babysit and spend time with Raven?"  The Good King asked.

The Good King then sighed.

"Look, just because Raven Queen is not my biological daughter and my daughter by blood, doesn't mean I don't love her at all. I still love her even if she is you and Evil Queen child! Even if she has your demon blood in her I still love her no matter what and raise her as if she was my own with kindness, care, love and gentleness! It doesn't matter if she is yours and Evil Queen daughter. She is still my daughter and I love her no matter what." The Good King said.

Hearing that made Raven's blood drop and run cold as she backed away from the door to the room the Good King was in.

Raven let everything she just heard process in her head.

Raven couldn't believe what she just heard.

"I'm not my father's daughter? I'm his adopted daughter? I'm the daughter of an affair and a demon?" Raven asked herself.

(Flashback over)

After listening to Raven's story, Icelyn and Venom just sat in their seats at the lunch table in disbelief and in silence.

Until the silence was broken.

"Are you mad? Your father, The Good King, being your adopted father and you being the daughter of an affair and a demon? That sounds like something Madeline Hatter would say." Icelyn said.

"I swear that is what I heard from my father's phone call when I visited him during the break. I don't know if I should call my father well, father, anymore." Raven said as she held in her hand, feeling stress.

"Well, does your father know about your new spider powers or that you overheard his phone conversation with someone?" Venom asked.

"No I didn't, I didn't want him to know I overheard his phone conversation so I tried to be discreet about it. I ask my....father what would he do if I was the daughter of someone else and not him and have new powers that are not my mom's powers. He didn't answer at first but he told me he will love me no matter even if I wasn't his daughter. And if I do get new powers that were no from my mom, then he will gladly help me control my powers. Though I think he is onto me that I overheard his phone conversation so I didn't ask any more questions." Raven said.

"Maybe you shouldn't have made your question obvious that you overheard your father's phone conversation." Icelyn said.

"Not helping Icy." Raven said.

"Well if The Good King isn't your biological father but your adopted father. Then who could be your biological daughter?" Venom asked.

"I don't know Venom. That is what I'm trying to figure out." Raven said.

Suddenly Icelyn then perked up.

"Wait. I think I have an idea on how we might find out who your real biological father is." Icelyn said.

Raven and Venom look at Icelyn.

"How?" Raven and Venom asked.

"Well your father listed clues in his phone conversation that you overheard when you visited him over the break. Clues that might help find out who your real, biological father is. Okay so let see, The Good King wasn't the first man your mom dated. There was another man The Evil Queen dated. This man was once a student at Ever After High like our mothers. He and your mom were high school sweethearts who may have broken up after graduation. He didn't get over your mom after their breakup and when she started going out with The Good King and married him. So your mom's ex high school boyfriend decided to use you to get back with your mom there by babysitting you when you were little. With these clues, we can easily find our answer." Icelyn said.

"How? What are you saying? Where are you going with this?" Raven asked with skepticism.

"We can't get answer from our moms because my mom and Raven's mom will denied answering any of our questions because they think having an affair is not even close to being evil or that Evil Queen won't answer or just denied she had any lovers before she meet The Good King, the same goes for my mom. And as for your mom, Icelyn, the Snow Queen, she will probably be dismissive because she thinks we won't understand or that she will tell us a half-lie, half-truth to us to hide her best friend's secrets from us or something to hide something from us because it something we shouldn't get involved in, are too young to understand." Venom said.

Icelyn gave Raven and Venom deadpan looks seeing how dumb and dense they are.

"Seriously guys? Are you guys that dense? You don't know? Don't you see, The Good King said to the mysterious man on the phone about them and Evil Queen attending Ever After High and being a student Ever After High and were known as High School Sweethearts. So all we have to do is go to Legacy Orchard and read the yearbooks from the previous students of Ever After High. More specifically the year when our moms attend Ever After High and graduate. And then once we do that, we may be able to find the ex-boyfriend The Evil Queen dated during her years as a student at Ever After High." Icelyn said.

Raven and Venom quickly understand what Icelyn was saying.

"Oh that makes sense!" Raven said.

Icelyn playfully rolls her eyes at her best friends.

"Where would  you two be without me? I swear I'm the smart one in this group." Icelyn said in a teasing way/tone.

"But what about the  part about Raven not being The Good Daughter's biological daughter? You don't think that The Evil Queen Ever After High ex boyfriend is Raven's biological daughter?" Venom asked.

"Woah, woah, woah. One step at a time, Venom. We first find who was The Evil Queen's ex boyfriend their year at Ever After High as students, then we can discuss who Raven's biological father is. We aren't going down that rabbit hole yet." Icelyn said.

The girls then  quickly finished their lunch.

After finishing their lunch, Raven stood up from her seat.

"To the Legacy Orchard!" Raven said.

Raven, Venom and Icelyn ran outside of Ever After High to the Legacy Orchard to find out and research  who was The Evil Queen ex-boyfriend from their years at Ever After High as students.
