Summer Reading

*takes a few deep inhales* Okay....Okay....I am calm....I am calm....

*thunks head on table* Oh who am I kidding? I am so not calm.

*sigh* This is what I get for deciding to take AP Lit next school year(last year of high school...help me...). Summer reading. Ugh. -_-

And it wouldn't be so bad, if they actually chose good titles. Look, I don't necessarily mind reading classics, but....why can't the classics they choose ever be interesting????

The Call of the Wild? Interesting.

Pride and Prejudice? Burn this thing with fire.

Black Beauty? Interesting.

1984? Throw this thing into a lake.

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn? Eh, it was halfway decent.

Lord of the Flies? Shred this thing into a million pieces, set those pieces on fire, then throw them into a lake.

*sigh* I think you get my point.

But did my AP Lit teachers choose something fun to read over the summer? Nooooooo, here's what they chose:

Othello by William Shakespeare

Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte

& Wide Sargasso Sea by Jean Rhys.

I have no idea what the last title is about, but the first two have not left me with much hope.

I mean first of all, freaking Shakespeare! WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE HIM SO MUCH?!?! HIS STORIES ARE NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO READ!!!!!

Second of all, I read Pride and Prejudice in 8th grade for a project.....didn't even make it halfway before giving up. That book is so BORING! So that really doesn't give me much hope for Jane Eyre.

And that's not the worst bit! I actually have to buy paper copies so that way I can annotate them! I suck at annotating!

Thank goodness I have threeish months to read these things....
