HELP!!!!!!!
Okay, I SERIOUSLY need some advice!
So, a couple weeks ago, I got a PM from a fan. They really like The Call to Rise, and they offered an idea that they had for the eventual Kai/Nya reunion.
Now, a little side-note: I already have a pretty solid outline for how I want the reunion to go, I just need to write it down (and probably revise it). So while I told the fan I appreciated their idea, I also let them know that the likely hood of the idea making it into the final product was very slim.
Fast forward a few days later, the same fan sent me another idea for the Kai/Nya reunion. Admittedly, I got a little annoyed with this second message, but after talked it out with a friend (thanks Sopherloafer!) I once again politely told the fan that I appreciated their ideas, but I already had a very solid outline for what I wanted the reunion to be like.
Fast forward to today, and I had thought that maybe they had taken my subtle message to heart and would stop.
LOL nope! Checked my PM box this morning, got ANOTHER message from them, where they then proceeded to tell me an idea for when Lloyd would make his appearance in The Call to Rise.
Please try and understand: I LOVE when people give me ideas, especially when I'm in a slump. They motivate me, and in some cases they actually do make an appearance in my stories (wink wink Ahsoka-2Sabers and Alex-Fierro17 ). But sometimes, I can't use an idea, either because it doesn't fit with how I want the scene to play out, or because I've already written the scene/have a solid idea for the scene. When this happens, I try to make the effort to thank the person while respectfully turning down their idea. Which, I hope you can see, I tried to do with this fan.
But this fan has crossed a line for me. They've done two things that have pissed me off:
1) They keep giving me ideas for scenes that I really don't need ideas on. I've spent literal YEARS thinking about the Kai/Nya reunion and how Lloyd is going to be involved. The first time they offered an idea, I was pretty receptive. The second time, however, was lowkey insulting.
2) They keep ignoring me! Each time I try to politely tell them "thank you, but no", they send me another idea WITHOUT ACKNOWLEDGING THE FACT THAT I TOLD THEM TO STOP!
Am I being too subtle? Should I flat-out tell them that they're being rude? Because Imma be really honest here: I already sent them yet another polite message. If the next message doesn't acknowledge this and/or contains yet another idea for The Call to Rise, I will most likely block them. But I really don't want to do that!
So please, I need some advice! How do I handle this?!?!
