Chappie 7 Bish what? -RW-
JACK THE RIPPER STRIKES AGAIN
"My, my, this is really getting out of hand." Madame Red sipped her tea, eyeing Ciel's shocked expression as he read the latest news.
His voice held annoyance. "Looks like the Druitt is not the serial killer."
I shuddered at the memory of the perverted Viscount. Feeling a piercing stare, I looked up and Grell was staring at me. Again. His green otherworldly eyes seemed to analyze me, trying to break me down piece by piece, something in his eyes confused and bewildered by me. He looked at me like I was a puzzle set, missing a few pieces, frustration and confusion clearly his expression.
I raised a brow, meeting his gaze firmly. He looked away, glaring at the chessboard on the table. Mmh, how odd.
"Checkmate." Ciel declared against Madame Red, ending their game. She laughed, "I'll win next time."
She stood from her seat, taking steps towards her nephew. "You do understand that there are other options than policing England's underworld. You are not responsible for catching Jack the Ripper. I believe my sister, your mother, would have wanted something else for you. You still have a chance, to leave." Concern was clear in her motherly tone yet a hint of desperation bled as she reached to pet his head.
His hand stopped her wrist, his voice cold. "I chose this. No one else. I will not be coddled, by anyone."
Ouch. She nodded, defeated and trying to conceal the hurt reaching her eyes. She looked as if she wanted to say so much more but held her tongue, getting ready to depart when the sound of a carriage arriving was heard.
"Raven, would you mind seeing me out?"
I followed her out of the room, towards the entrance of the manor. Unsure of why she specifically asked for me, I stood awkwardly as she slipped her coat on. Her back was facing me, rain pattering and the strike of lightning flashing outside.
"Promise me something. Promise me you will never leave his side." Madame Red spoke, her voice sounding broken. "You're going to be confused for a while but just know you must trust each other. Everything will be clear soon, my dear."
"Madame?" I questioned, confused.
She turned around, a forced smile on her lips. "I cannot coddle him but I believe you can. After all, he is just a child in need of his..." She trailed, stopping herself from letting another word slip from her mouth.
"I promise."
I could see the battle going on in her eyes. Emotions conflicting. She looked lost and hopeless, seeming as if she was still stuck in the past. Hearing my promise, her face brightened. Finally satisfied, she turned around to leave, Grell following closely.
Madame Red glanced behind her, looking at me longingly, her lips moving before the doors closed.
"Au revoir, ma chère nièce."
I tilted my head in confusion, not understanding what I believe was French. Not wanting to overthink things, I turned around to head back but stopped in my tracks.
Sebastian stood, glaring at Madames Red's previous spot. He muttered under his breath. "The nerve that woman has." His eyes met mine, secrets hidden within. I know they are all hiding something from me. I'm not stupid. The way everyone exchanges glances, stopping themselves when they've spoke too much. I have so many questions. And I am going to get answers, one way or another.
"She's Jack the Ripper, isn't she?" There was a feeling in my gut that churned at the thought yet I could feel that I was right. In the back of my mind, I knew somehow. I just didn't want it to be true. Sebastian nodded slowly, confirming the worst.
"Damn." I muttered, tears gathering in my eyes. A heavy feeling weighed on my chest. I don't know why. I barely know Madame Red. Yet why am I feeling so betrayed?
My vision blurred. A flashback of a red headed woman rocking me to sleep was remembered. Her lips tugged into a smile, kissing my forehead lovingly.
"Ma chère nièce, Céleste~"
I leaned on the wall for support, gasping. It felt like the whole world was closing in on me. Confusion and fear settled in me. These memories, are they mine? What the hell is wrong with me? Who am I?
An arm wrapped around my waist, steadying me. I fisted his tailcoat, my face buried in his chest. I breathed in his scent, a hint of sweet pastries. The fuzzy feeling dispersed, replaced with anger.
I shoved him, glaring. "I need answers. You have to follow my orders, remember? For a week."
His reluctance was clear. "Miss Raven, you must understand-"
"No, you must understand." I interrupted, stomping in front of him, shoving a finger at his chest. "You are hiding something." With every word, I stepped forward, the butler doing the opposite until he couldn't escape, his back to the wall. "Everyone is. And I am not going to stop until I find out. So you either fess up right now or I am going to force you to answer me."
In one swift moment, our positions were reversed. Sebastian had a tight grip on my wrist, pinning it above my head. "Son of a b-!" I threw my fist forward, only for it to be pinned down as well. "I order you to- mmph!"
His gloved hand covered my mouth. The only thing I could do was glare with burning hatred. I wanted to scream. To cry. To throw a fit. I could feel tears gather in my eyes. Unpleasant feelings bubbled to the surface. Why the hell is this happening to me?
"What a feisty soul you are." His voice held amusement. The look in his dark eyes made the fight in me diminish. My body stiffened, a dangerous aura in front of me. His lips tugged into a smirk, as if he was ready to devour my soul.
"Force me, you say?" He chuckled, the sound making shivers roll down my spine. "I've been receiving orders for quite some time now. I follow them without hesitance, as does a Phantomhive butler should. Sebastian, this. Sebastian, that. It's a nuisance."
The butler slid his hand from my mouth, brushing his fingers across my flushed cheeks. He leaned closer, allowing his eyes to demonize. Its piercing glow made me tremble slightly. I'm actually going to shit myself.
"I do not know why but you infuriate me the most." His voice held a slight sneer.
"... Insulting me on our first encounter.." Shit, I called him 'fatter than expected' when we first met.
"..Thinking I would eat you, though very tempting.." Reread chapter two if you don't remember.
".. Teasing me at the masquerade ball.." oops, my bad
".. Holding me tightly one moment the pushing me away the next.." Damn, he's really making me feel bad.
"..Making a demon feel things that are impossible.." Bish what?
"But what angers me the most.." He paused, clenching his jaw. His grip around my wrist tighened. I winced slightly. He noticed, realization crossing his face. A sigh slipped from his lips, closing his eyes briefly before opening, returning them to normal. The anger had receded. He took a step back, the sudden shift in his attitude confusing me.
Sadness and hurt crossed his face for a moment. I forgot how to breathe, this side of him frightening me the most.
"...You forgot about the promise you made a long time ago."
