The Queen's Maid is a sapphic, historical romance for readers who love angst, tragic endings, and for fans of the tragic lesbian movie 'The Handmaiden'. It follows the story of a maid who develops a love and forbidden relationship with a Queen set in the late Joseon era now known as Korea.

We are introduced to Seul-Ki, whose previous masters were massacred. She is transferred to the Royal Palace to work as a maid for Queen Bae Joo-Hyun, a royal who is known for her reputation for being ice-cold and cruel. Yet despite what people have said, Seul-Ki can't help but be drawn to the Queen's beauty, particularly her feet (don't worry, the foot fetish is very brief). When the Queen asks for Seul-Ki to stay and eat dinner with her, it soon turns to another version of eating: each other. Their romance blossoms, the Queen's health and appetite increasing the more time she spends with the maid. Seul-Ki is willing to do anything for the Queen, and literally. She's one of the biggest simps you'll ever read, a loyal maid who will die for the woman she loves.

Unfortunately, the Queen is bound to the King, to carry his child, and that brings up not only hidden political agendas from the Queen and her brother, the Marquis, but jealousy also rises from Seul-Ki which further complicates things. You'll also meet Sanggung with her tough love, the Bin Concubine and her hate for the Queen, and Seul-na, Seul-Ki's sister whom it's guaranteed you'll hate almost immediately. This story definitely shows the lengths someone will go to for someone they love, and the significant impact a beautiful, bright soul can have on a person who has undergone so much pain in their life.

The Queen's Maid will take you through an emotional rollercoaster, through the highs and lows. From the sweetest gestures like Seul-Ki wanting to take all of the Queen's pain on herself to amazing spice to plenty of stakes that will keep you on the edge of the seat, the Queen's Maid will quickly become one of your favorite reads. So get ready for the best ride of your life, because you'll not be disappointed.
