Uther wasn't always such a tyrant ruler. He wasn't always cold towards his wife but, when Arthur was only young Uther made a deal with a sorceress named Nimueh. He bargained the life of another, any other, so his wife Igraine could bear his heir. What he did not expect was for his love to give birth to twins. Adeline and Arthur were both exceptional children in there own right but something was special about Adeline. Her mother was practically hanging onto life by sheer will, she didn't want her baby to die with her, when all the sudden the pain was gone. Igraine was healthy again as if she wasn't deathly pale just the other minute. She had life in her cheeks again, the dull look in her eyes gone replaced with a renewed fire. Adeline was giggling happily her hair glowing a soft  gold color.

News spread about the happy royal couple and their new children the sorceress Nimueh was infuriated. A life was supposed to be taken in place of theirs. The old religion demanded it and she had been thwarted by a baby. She couldn't accept it, she wouldn't. Late on the night of Arthur and Adelines first birthday Nimueh quickly snuck into the twos bedroom. She held the dagger above the baby's head but when the baby opened her deep blue eyes Nimueh couldn't do it but a price had to be paid so instead she picked up the baby causing her brother to shriek at the sight of his sister being picked up by a stranger. The cry alerted Adeline and that night she performed her first ever spell. It was so instinctual that not even the great Nimueh sensed it. That night she created a bond between her and Arthur. Leaving a cresent mark on both of their forearms. Ensuring that the two would be destiny bound to find there way back to one another.
