Potc short story: Untreatable
"Where's yer bloody doctor?" A man growled at Teague as he supported his companion who was injured. As well as half out of it. "We're in need of assistance."
"That stubborn Irish woman, probably's the one who did it in the first place." The third one spat, helping hoist up the injured a little more as they stood at the door.
"Aye, but she's the only doctor we got in miles. Joe don't got that long."
Edward crossed his arms, eyebrow raised. "Well if ye insulted her like you jus' did now. She won't see ye, so might as well give him up."
"To you?" The first asked suspiciously.
Teague scoffed. "Nay, but to the devil down under like he deserves. An' where all men go."
"But he ain't did anythin'!"
"Then you don't need to worry do ye." The Captain replied. Turning inside to go and find Soracha.
It took a minute or so, but Teague finally came out again. Soracha following behind.
The auburn haired woman instantly gave the three men a glare. Making them shift uneasy on their feet as she argued in Gaelic to Edward.
"I'm not treated him, he's incurable in more ways than one." She spat, this time in English. Ensuring that the strangers understood.
"Tell me their crimes then an' I'll agree with ye." Teague said with a slight shrug. Casually taking a drink of whiskey.
"First off, They're an' insult to the human race. Second, they're pigs an' shouldn't be allowed around women is what." Soracha stated, hands resting on her hips. One fingering her knives.
"An' you've punished them already I suppose?" He asked, a sly twinkle hidden in his eyes.
She gave a nod, grinning just ever so slightly.
He then turned to the men. "Then get the hell out of here. Yer lucky to be alive an' she didn't do much else."
They grumbled in response, irritated as they turned to go.
Teague turned as they left, stifling a laugh.
"What?" Soracha said with a shrug. Though there was a playful look in her eyes.
"Those meatheads didn't know what was comin' fer them is what." He replied. "They didn't know ye were an assassin doctor determined to get blood. They thought they could jus' come an' go." Teague chuckled.
She shook her head, giving a sigh. "Next time though, they better watch out. Cause I'll leave them plenty untreatable if they show their faces again.
He laughed again, watching her go.
Being friends with Soracha definitely didn't leave any room for dull moments. Teague decided , but he wouldn't have it any other way.
