Being woke has become a social trend especially on social media. I'm sorry to tell you this but having #blacklivesmatter in your Instagram bio does not make you woke.

Being woke does not entail having hashtags in your bios or taking an aesthetic picture of yourself in an Afrocentric museum. It's about being socially aware and speaking up on topics that our society has shunned.

There's legit no point putting all these hashtags in your bios and titling yourself as "woke" when your wattpad is filled with predominantly white books, when you have all these hashtags but once someone is shot for their skin colour you're suddenly mute, when you like putting deep Maya Angelou quotes under your pictures but don't even know or understand the meaning.

Why did you get mandarin tattooed on your bicep because it's pretty but then call the Asian guy in your class "Ching Chong" and think it's okay, why are you calling yourself woke but still over sexualising the Spanish language and calling white people "mamí or papí" like that isn't cute anymore, just very disturbing because this is what hispanics and latinos (yes, there's a difference between the two) actually call their parents.

Don't go around calling yourself woke when you're not, if you think you're woke but can't speak about cultural appropriation, intersectional feminism then sis, there's the door on your left.
